  • "Always great food and the wait staff are wonderful."

  • "Your basic bistro with no-nonsense good food at good prices; nice atmosphere; family friendly; parking a bit sketchy."

  • "I opted for a different table near window when being seated. The server was training another and both made my dining experience enjoyable. This was my first visit and although a group of dads and their sons were sat near me, (both who were extremely noisy), I enjoyed the ambience and people watching. The bar was full of the after 5 crowd. Fun. The food was tasty and plenty of selections that I must return to sample others."

  • "Server was more condescending than informative, I understand a busy Saturday night, but when people ask a question, it's OK to just answer it without any inflection in your voice."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with our first visit to The Point. It truly is a hidden gem for anyone living outside the beltline. I would recommend The Point and we will be back with friends."

  • "The wood oven cooked flounder and scallops were excellent. The spinach salad, slaw, and fresh warm bread were very good. The bread pudding dessert was excellent. Service by Stephanie was very friendly, helpful, and attentive. We liked the ambiance of the wood fired ovens. Parking is a problem, there is none, we had to park a block away in the neighborhood. The noise level in the restaurant by the clientele was excessive."

  • "My wife goes crazy when a restaurant's sanitation rating is below 95--this restaurant is 91. However, we enjoyed our meal, but the Caesar salad was weak."

  • "Great food. Great place to grab lunch. Parking was a challenge though."

  • "I've never had a better tasting burger. I have had bariatric surgery and ordered the black & blue burger without a bun and they were happy to make the necessary adjustments. The burger melted in my mouth! I was by far the best burger I have ever put in my mouth! The wood fired oven/grill taste can through. The burger was cooked exactly how I ordered it. My boyfriend had the lasagna and his son had the pork chops. Both the other dishes were excellently cooked as well."

  • "Went to this place as a Plan B when our original choice was booked solid all night. The table for two was tiny; the menu barely fits across it without hanging off the side. We found the restaurant by searching 'fine dining', and it falls a little short. The drinks were good and strong, and my seared tuna was very good, but the restaurant itself is too loud for what I consider 'fine' dining. Entrées run between $15-$30, but the kids' meals are only $5, so the place may as well have been Chuck E Cheese, just without the games or anything else to entertain a child. The result is a bunch of whiny, restless kids, which I can understand because I would have hated to have to go to a place like that when I was a kid. Three stars out of five."

  • "It was ok. the food is good. it's pricey for the quality, though."

  • "I was underwhelmed by this restaurant. Several questions to the waitress were met with a glazed look, the food was just plain and when I was asked how my meal was, I replied "just ok." She asked why and I gave her the details (disappointing patty melt with very little toasting of the bread) she said she'd pass on the comment but nothing else. I wasn't expecting the meal to be comped but I did expect a "Sorry you didn't enjoy it.""

  • "We had reservations for 7:30, but didn't get seated until after 8. The food was below average. The waitress was good, but the host was over his head on a not particularly crowded night."

  • "We found The Point thru web search, visited for late Valentine Dinner. We were pleased with the food and service, but found the noise level too much. We could never bring our 11 y/o autistic son due to his sensitivity to noise. We found the food selection to be great, as was the service. Finally, we did not see "no firearms allowed sign," which has become important to me. Being former correctional officer, I understand better than most the danger of simply walking on a sidewalk or being in a new environment. I always try to be discrete, not my intention to cause anyone discomfort. If The Point is uncomfortable with CCW customers, I understand - Charlie"

  • "Able to make a 6pm reservation on Open Table (one of the few restaurants with that wasn't already totally booked) but it turned out to be our gem. Food was awesome - my bride had the lobster pasta and I had a seafood medley with olives. The only distraction to a perfect meal was that the tomato bisque with crab meat came out slightly above warm rather than hot. Not a fatal flaw considering the place was absolutely packed for Valentine's Day. Service was excellent. Dessert was awesome and the post meal coffee was outstanding - a challenge for many restaurants since it was decaf. Getting to the restaurant was challenging as the sidewalks were covered with snow - someone should have spent 10 minutes with an shovel before they opened."

  • "Lucked out with a same day Valentine's Day reservation. We were a little taken by the humble outside appearance, but it definitely made up for it with taste. The menu has a large variety of food, all looking great, and sitting right in front of the wood-fired grill smelled great. We had the sampler appetizer, which was well worth it, and while we only bought a sandwich and a calzone, we were pretty impressed with the overall experience. Will go again for sure."

  • "I was looking for a place for my wife and I to have a Valentine's meal about a week before Valentine's Day. It seemed that most of our regular choices were totally booked. I happened to find The Point and they had some availability. So glad I happened upon this place. We arrived and were seated promptly and our waiter arrived quickly as well. I had the Mahi and my wife had a pizza. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. Lively enough without being annoyingly loud. We will definitely be back and I would recommend The Point for a welcome change from the typical chain restaurants. They have a very large menu and it seems that they do most everything well."

  • "Our visit was on a busy Friday evening and thanks to The Point for using Open Table as we were seated immediately while the walk-in's were waiting. We ordered the sampler platter and especially enjoyed the fried olives, duck wings and cider dipping sauce. The creamy avocado vinaigrette on the spinach salad was an unexpected but delightful flavour addition. Main course seafood pot pie gets SIX stars for deliciousness and the shrimp and grits paired perfectly; the shrimp bursting in the mouth with just the right touch of heat from the Tabasco butter - YUM! Service was very attentive. The extensive menu made choosing an entrée difficult, but with so much selection and such a great first impression, we will be back to try more!"

  • "The Point is one of our regular stops. We tried a lot of things from the menu and haven't had anything yet that wasn't delicious. Fav's are the Lasagna and The Bootlegger!"

  • "Convenient spot, with a wide variety to chose from."

  • "Our guests are always surprised how good the seafood is here. Always fresh and lightly battered. Love the flounder and oysters, fried or fire-grilled. Bootlegger is also very good."

  • "This a a fun place to watch a game or meet up with a group. The food is pretty good for a sports bar. Service is a little slow and it can get noisy... . Not a romantic atmosphere- not good for a date. but a fun atmosphere"

  • "The Point was a great overall experience. We loved our dinner and service; however the bar area was very loud and in close proximity to our seats. We attended the location based on recommendations and our favorite band was playing for NYE. The festivities were not well managed and became uninviting after many guests were left with standing room only. The evening was exciting, but this location did not seem able to handle its young clientele and thus leaving some of its paying guests to be without any room to enjoy their night."

  • "Took my (out-of-town) mom for lunch. We ordered the sampler appetizer. The server must have not heard me because we never got it. The food came quick though, so I didn't complain. My mom was set on the Oyster Po' Boy that we saw on the online menu, but we found out they were out of oysters. We all settled for Flounder. It was okay. Overall, the service was fair, considering we were the only patrons there during our visit. The prices weren't bad. There was adequate parking. I love the ambience. I would go back in the evening maybe to catch a basketball game. The menu looks better and the place probably has more of a pulse."

  • "Went out NYE to celebrate, they had the Al Williams Band there. The staff was friendly, the food was great. They were very accommodating. This is definitely a spot I would go to on a regular night out. Nice atmosphere. The food prices are very reasonable."

  • "Right next door to the Rialto Cinema The Point at Glenwood is a perfect spot for after movie dinner. Or before if you prefer. It is a busy place of high energy but with a neighborhood feel with a mixed dining crowd. Food was very good with a varied menu and our server Katherine was excellent. It will be one of our favorites, a place we will revisit frequently."

  • "I have taken my elderly parents here several times when they visit. One of the few places they like that my adult children also like. However, the music was much too loud on the dining side. It would be great if the music could be turned down until 9pm."

  • "We have frequented this restaurant about every 2-3 mos. since we moved to Raleigh 5 yrs. ago; good food, ambiance, reasonable pricing. We have seen the menu and pricing changes over the last year. Friday evening may be our last visit. Food is still good, but pricing is unreasonable on some of the simplest bar food. For current pricing, a better dining experience can be found elsewhere. Service was awful and it was so loud inside that we could not have a conversation across the table with each other. Not sure what direction management is trying to go in, but they have lost their appeal as a neighborhood spot to enjoy."

  • "Extremely bad acoustics - don't try to have a conversation with anyone in your party regardless of how close they're sitting. Food was good though."
    Dined on 11/1/2013
  • "food was pretty good, prices a little heavy. bread and a salad with the meal would have been nice. Noisy place. Probably more of a bar that offers pretty good food, than a restaurant that has a bar."

  • "Tuesday evening. The bar was busy, the restaurant not so much. Food was well prepared and we didn't have to wait very long. Service was nothing remarkable, but good nevertheless. Wine list was dominated by Argentine offerings which seemed a little unusual for a bar/restaurant. In any event, the four of us had a good time. We left full and happy"

  • "Ambience good, food very good, when it arrived. Super-slow service. Brought 1 salad and 3 other people had to wait more than 30 mins, and an inquiry from us, before we saw food. Did not check on us before meal arrived; ran out of drinks. Had to ask mgr. to check on our food. Waitress very nice young lady, tried hard, but food service was s-l-o-w! Not happy that the grilled vegetables are no longer an option. Will visit again, maybe not on a Friday night ( though they were not busy enough to justify the delay). I've been there before and had great service, so I am willing to give The Point another try."

  • "We had a nice supper at The Point. The food was good and it is so much nicer since they have remodeled things a bit. This is a great place to hang out with friends and grab a drink!"

  • "We tried this restaurant for the first on the basis of Open Table reviews. Perhaps this was an off night but we were disappointed with the food. The gnocchi texture was completely off. The beef tenderloin was just okay. The hamburger was fair. The fourth guest had a chef's salad and it was good. While this is a fun place, I am not certain it can accommodate for the mediocre fare. And, parking is absolutely abysmal."
