A word from The Pirates' House
The entire family is sure to enjoy Savannah's most intriguing & historic restaurant. At the Pirates' House, our most precious treasure is the food. Situated in Trustees Garden, merely a scant block from the Savannah River, the Famous Pirates' House is the most historic spot in Georgia. The Herb House, erected in 1734, located inside the Pirates' House, is said to be the oldest house in Georgia. The Pirates' House first opened in 1753 as an inn for seafarers and fast became a meeting point for blood-thirsty pirates & sailors. Enthusiastically recommended by AAA, Food & Wine and Redbook.Continued

  • "First, this place is pretty expensive. The food was good with very large portions. They have a pirate walk around so you can have your picture taken with her. The kids really wanted to go to this place. No need to go back."

  • "This was our second visit to the Pirate House. We came back a second time because we so enjoyed the first. The food is great, as is the service. The wait staff is super friendly and helpful. We find it fun, even as adults, to get in the pirate atmosphere. You don't have to be a kid to enjoy the pirate tour. And there's lots to be said about the history surrounding you. This was the way I chose to celebrate my birthday this year. The dessert with a sparkler in it was a nice touch. We drove down from Augusta - 2 1/2 hours away. Thanks to all at the Pirate House for helping make my birthday a memorable one."

  • "Went for the grand kids. Expected less than quality food. Pleasantly surprised......food was excellent as well as service! Will definitely return, even without grand kids!"

  • "This is a great place to eat. Fresh, delicious seafood. Best she crab soup I've ever eaten. It's also a historical site and fun for kids!"

  • "Great food and service but where we're all the pirates? There was only one pirate walking around in a place that advertised "dine with pirates". The lack of pirates is the only bad thing I can say about this place. I only bring that up because we had 4 excited kids (under 6 years old) who wanted to interact with pirates and they left a little disappointed. The waiter was awesome and gave the kids skull mugs."

  • "Wonderful food and awesome atmosphere! We make a point to eat here anytime we're in town. Make sure to have the she crab soup! It's second to none!"

  • "I got the parmesean crusted tilapia and I thought the food was excellent. I enjoyed that they had both rolls and cornbread to dine on while waiting for the food to arrive. I thought the atmosphere was great with the decorations and the pirates in costume walking around. Overall great experience with reasonable comparable pricing to other restaurants in the area. Definitely would eat there again and recommend to others!"

  • "We had reservations and were greeted nicely. It went down hill from there. First, we were seated at a table reserved for a larger party and had to move. No problem, except they did not seat us at a table that was serviced by the waitress of the room. Our waitress was split between two rooms, hers and us. Guess who got all the attention. The waitress who had the room ignored us. Therefore, water glasses went empty, beverages for our dinner arrived after the food, etc. Not a good experience. We won't be back nor recommend this place to anyone."

  • "Entrees were served quickly and looked appetizing. Fish entrees were excellent (trout). Scallop appetizer outstanding, but the fried calamari was tasteless and it's "marinara" sauce also tasteless. Our bottle of Sarah was very good. Overall, we enjoyed the experience in Savannah. Place is loaded with ambiance! We will return."

  • "I'm not much for fried but the shrimp was very good. Portions were large. Lots of history in the building."

  • "A great place to take the kids with a ton of history and a gift shop upstairs. Ask the wandering pirate for a tour. Food was okay. Service was fine although a little slow."

  • "For the prices, I expected a better quality of food. It cost $80 for 3 people and I left hungry. The chicken dinner I received was not as described on the menu. My husband's dinner was supposed to have sausage in it, but was lacking. We were really looking forward to eating here. This was our first and last time eating at Pirates House. Very, very disappointed."

  • "The Pirate's House has the unique distinction of being located in a place of historic significance, where the founders of the Georgia Colony busily set about establishing the colony, and where pirates once roamed. The restaurant has done a great job of preserving its combined history, and merging it into their business. The atmosphere is rustic, the servers friendly, and the food excellent. I would recommend it to anybody, but anyone who enjoys history or has a fascination with pirates would enjoy The Pirate House."

  • "From it's historic background to authentic decor, the pirates house was a great experience. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly and helpful. We will be repeat customers!"

  • "We visited the restaurant for lunch and chose the buffet. It took several minutes before our server came to the table to take our drink orders, so we left and went to the buffet. Upon returning, we had water on the table. The server was good, but he was very busy. The food was very good."

  • "The honey and pecan coated fried chicken was delicious! It's a signature dish and came highly recommended by our server. It did not disappoint."
    Dined on 7/10/2014
  • "The food was quite mediocre, and was way overpriced. Cute theme, but really the theme was only carried through a little of the decor and one pirate character walking around. The wait and service staff seemed very unhappy and I even heard a few of them talking about how much they disliked their jobs."

  • "If you are looking for good food, themed ambiance, and some Savannah souvenirs, then The Pirate's House has it all! There are several different dining rooms, each with its own theme, and some come with a ghost story. The food is good, and there is a kids menu that doubles as a pirate ensemble. The second floor has an extensive gift/souvenir shop. If you are in Savannah, you should make a point to come to the Pirate's House for lunch or dinner."

  • "Amazing food and historic building. A MUST when you are in Savannah!"

  • "For as much as is written about the fun, historical aspect of the house...we found it to just be okay. We did the buffett and the food again, was just okay - but pricey! The inside of the house is neat, but you can't really see much of it. We thought you might be able to explore a little more of the house but it's blocked off. So, basically we just ate and left - something you can do at hundreds of other restaurants in Savannah for less money. We're glad we can check this off our list of things to do, but we won't go back."

  • "The service was great , the history of the place brought us in, food was good , drinks overpriced and lacked in alcohol , take a sweater it's very old uncomfortable cold . It's an experience !"

  • "Drink and food menus are extensive with super names and descriptions. Great location history so the combination makes this an excellent choice to take out of town visitors. Food was superb but service got a little challenging as the place was very busy (rolls didn't until after entrees; wine order placed with delivery of entrees didn't come until after meal). Excellent gift shop upstairs!"

  • "The food was excellent. We had the soup and scallops for an appetizer and they both were good. My husband and I both ordered the chicken dinner, it was drizzled with honey and pecans and still it was very crispy. What great flavor. Very moist inside. Service was great. It is located in the oldest building in Savannah, so the history of the building is very interesting. I almost forgot the biscuits, hot, buttery and melted in your mouth. The meal was perfect. Make a reservation because the wait could be long. Enjoy!"

  • "Nice atmosphere. The history of the building made it worth visiting. We weren't expecting a gourmet meal and it wasn't. The appetizers were good. My husband had a BBQ plate that he enjoyed but my daughter and I just picked on our Athens shrimp pasta...very bland. Our waitress had an attitude and service started out very slow. It was 15 minutes before we got our drinks. One visit is definitely all we will need."

  • "Genuine Savannah historical restaurant, food was good, mixed drinks very good and the kids loved it."

  • "Used to have a great local menu. Very generic now. My friends had the buffet and said it was too salty and the fried chicken wasn't good. I had a burger. I asked for well done and got charred. I miss the local menu. They should stop trying to copy cat every chain restaurant and make their food something special again. Server got our drink orders wrong, dressing for salad, forgot to change our drinks. Very nice guy, just seemed preoccupied. Will go there for a drink again for the ambience but definitely won't eat as long as their menu looks like every other place out there."

  • "We eat at the Pirate's House every time we visit Savannah. The buffet has the best fried chicken ever and the greens are fixed to perfection. On Fridays, you are treated to seafood au gratin. It is loaded with REAL crab meat and shrimp. The buffet is definitely a must if you like Southern food. We bought the cookbook so we can try to duplicate some of the recipes at home!"

  • "The fried chicken with pecan syrup was great. Huge portion, 4 pieces of chicken. The building was very unique. Liked the story about the underground tunnel."

  • "We have visited Savannah a number of times and had stopped here for drinks but never to dine. We decided to try it this year. Service was slow and the food was good. Somewhat limited menu. Great little place to stop."

  • "service was slow this time around. I got pecan crusted fish and it tastes like it was caught in a sewer. My child's burger also tasted horrible like the meat was old. I used to like this place but the food is not as good. Also, mixed drinks are no good."

  • "We stopped in Savannah for a night and decided to try Pirate's House and we loved the mix of entertainment, history, and really good food here. With my reservation I happened to get a private room for our party of 8 and that was perfect. A little stop in their gift shop upstairs and my kids were over the moon. Would def recommend eating here, we had lots of fun!!!"

  • "All was good. However, no hamburgers or anything of that nature for children. Did not like the pecan crusted chicken. If I had known it was going to be sweet, I would have not ordered. Not fond of sweet meats."

  • "The Pirate House is definitely a must do in Savannah! The food is great and the atmosphere speaks for itself! Be sure visit the gift shop upstairs for awesome pirate apparel and memorabilia. I will visit again on my next trip! There is so much history in the building that one trip will not be enough!"

  • "Two adults and two kids went for dinner at 5:30. No wait for our table and we were seated right away. The kids enjoyed the spooky history of the place and the pirates. The menu looked promising but the food underwhelmed. The Captains special had a gummy Mako shark tough swordfish, and 4 shrimp that were just ok. The Parmesan crusted tilapia was better but nothing spectacular and worthy of its $25 price tag. The was a kids menu that featured the typical greasy fare. my son had the chicken fingers and fries, again they were just ok. The best part if the meal was actually a frozen kids drink called a frozen rainbow! Best $3.95 of the night. I would suggest only going here if you have kids and not ordering food for yourself!"
