The Pirates' HouseA MUST!You can not go to Savannah without eating at the Pirate House! Our kids loved it and the food was excellent!6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMA place to experienceI have been to Savannah a number of times and shame on me for not having dined at The Pirate's House.
The food was good but certainly wouldn't qualify as "foodies" category. The staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. The pirates who interact with the patrons add a wonderful historical flair to the meal.
This building is steeped in our Colonial American history, so history buffs will enjoy gleaning all the details. I would return to enjoy another round and certainly recommend this to others. I already posted a thumbs up on Facebook.
Don't wait as long as I did to enjoy this place.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Fried Chicken EverThe Pecan Fried Chicken was the best I have ever eaten. I would look for a reason to visit Savannah again just to get some more.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great service, fun!The food was awesome! Highly recommend "Release the Kraken," terrific drink! Service was fantastic! Only drawback was that another patron was extremely loud, but this can happen anywhere. It was my daughter's birthday, and they brought a free dessert with sparklers on top, and we even asked if we could have one of the paper pirates hats that they give children (my daughter is 20) and the waitress brought one. We also asked the waitress to take a pic for us, and she walked us to the pirate out front to take a pic there so it would be a better pic than just sitting at the table. Great place!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food and Fun AtmosphereThe staff at The Pirate House make this a great place to dine. Our waiter was very attentive and ensured we enjoyed our food and our entire "Pirate" experience. This place is a treasure itself. Lots of history, lots of fun!6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing she-crab soup"I love the relaxed feel of this place -so many comfortable dining rooms, each with its own history and charm. I definitely would return to try more dishes from the menu, the buffet was tasty with many food choices. The she-crab soup was amazing. Service was well-timed and friendly. The gift shop upstairs had many items to choose from to remember the outing.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMA great experienceRich with history and charm. We have never dined here and what a mistake that was. We were seated quickly with our reservation. Our food was prompt and flavorful. The stories surrounding the restaurant were interesting and the wait staff informative and helpful. We will be back.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first time tryingThis was our first time trying this resturant, and we were very pleased!! Will def. be going back!!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat foodThe lunch buffet was wonderful. The green beans and mashed potatoes were amazing. My husband really enjoyed the fried chicken as well. The key lime pie was great. The atmosphere was fun, but we were seated in the very back room which didn't have the same ambience as some of the others. I would definitely asked to be seated somewhere else. Our server was not very good - not overly friendly and not much personality. However, the quality of the food made this a worthwhile experience. We also enjoyed the gift shop. I would recommend families give it a try. It was worth going. I would stick with lunch as the prices are a lot more reasonable than at dinner, and the buffet is only served at lunchtime.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMFun Place with great food!Lots of good food to choose from the lunch buffet was perfect.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the Pirates HouseI have wanted to go to the Pirates House since I found out about its link to one of my favorite books, "Treasure Island". We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience and I will highly recommend it to our friends and family.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMpromptWe arrived at the time of our reservation and were taken right to our table. The food arrived in a timely way and was very tasty.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMgood food and funThe kids enjoyed the pirates in the restaurant and the food was one of the better dinning experiences we had.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMIncredibleAwesome food and friendly wait staff! The pecan crusted chicken with the maple glaze was amazing. Will return for sure!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat for Savannah's GuestsWe live here locally but had family in from out of town last weekend. We took them to The Pirate's House for dinner on Saturday and they loved it. We had 2 very young children with us that enjoyed it and were well behaved. Our waiter was good, food was great and service was quick. You do need to make a reservation but it's a very neat and historical place.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA neat little place to eatIf you are interested in a fun place to eat, in a very historic building, with very good food, you will like The Pirate's House. We did not order off the menu, instead opting for the buffet. Some have said it is better than the buffet at nearby Paula Deen's The Lady and Sons. I think it is comparable, with some things better and others not as good (but close). (My wife loved the fried okra.) Definitely worth a stop in you are in Savannah.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMI had a great experience,I had a great experience, the ambience was excellent and the service was great.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat history lesson and dinner! We've gone to the Pirate's House every time we've gone to Savannah and we've yet to be disappointed. The prices are a little expensive, but incredibly worth it...there's so much food!!! They've added a gift shop upstairs that is amazing! Loved it!5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Buffet......We arrived for lunch as the doors opened, and were greeted by a polite and enthusiastic host and server. The menu was explained to us and the server walked us to the buffet for a personal explanation of the food items. The crab cakes were excellent as was the buffet, especially the "greens." Irish or pirate music in the background would be a nice touch as well as a few trained Macaws.
The pirate gals seemed a little bashful but they enjoyed interactiing with the kids. This restaurant is doing everything right, only suggestion would be to arrival early and enjoy yourself.
Arghhhhhhhhh....enjoy matey.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMRecommendedReally good lunch, historic building, great staff.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSurprisingly Tasty Meal! This was a much more upscale dining than we had thought it would be. Our daughter LOVED the menu that could be folded into a pirate hat, mustache, earring, and coins. We all had the special which was very good. This was a fun stop in Savannah!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat restaurant! We had a wonderful dinner experience. Food was very good and service was excellent. We will go again on our next visit to Savannah.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Brunch in Historic SavannahPirates House has a good buffet at a reasonable price. The fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and squash casserole were all very good. The setting is very unique, being an old pirate inn and the history adds a lot of charm. There is plenty of free parking behind the restaurant. Kids would enjoy the men and women walking around dressed like pirates, I did not like them stopping by to chat, but again, kids sure would! Everyone was very nice and hospitable.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMThis restaurant was superThis restaurant was super fun and the food was excellent. The pirates walking around are hysterical. Definitely check it out!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, great service and neatWe red the reviews and fiends told us about the place and all we can say was they were right. Amazing food. Steve our waiter wa wonderful and what a neat old building. Was a great night. Do yourself a favor. GO!5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMQuaint and charmingWe chose The Pirates House from a recommendation by a friend. It was a good choice. The food was by far the best we had in our 4 day stay in Savannah. The atmosphere was cute with pirates walking around and the rooms named - pirates den, captains quarters, etc. The price was pretty reasonable, as well. Also, there was a gift store, which we did not go to. It was a nice change of pace, but not too "piratey" .5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEven better than expectedI had been a couple of times before over the past decade, and took my brother there during our trip because of the interesting spooky/historical location, and the fun of the wandering pirates, etc. This time, the food took center stage and was so much better than I remembered from years past. The she crab soup is, and always has been, amazing and not to be missed, but there was nothing we ordered that was not delicious and extremely well prepared. One dish in particular stood out- grilled shark on a bed of almond rissoto with pepper jelly- oh so tender and a great combination of flavors. I love a sweet finish, and must say the chocolate torte was the best I have ever tried. Will definitely be a regular stop whenever I am in Savannah!5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMA historic gem!.What a historic gem! Delicious food in a historic and intimate setting. I tried the luncheon buffet and what a treat. A great selection of Southern cuisine with healthy choices. The fried chicken is to die for. Imagine sitting in a friendly, comfortable restaurant constructed in the 18th century eating comfort food. You won't be disappointed.
The staff is professional, friendly and provides attentive service.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Historical RestaurantMy husband and father inlaw ate here while we were visiting Savannah and the food was amazing! I absolutely loved the historical aspects of the restaurant. It was a very neat experience. The gift shop upstairs was very cute as well.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExceeded expectations - great foodWe feared the touristy pirate theme would mean average to below average food but we trusted Trip Adviser and went. I am glad we did as the food was excellent. The flounder with crab meat was superb as was the dish my husband had. The biscuits are to die for. We were too full to try dessert. We were there at 6 so the room we were in was quiet. Other areas might get loud. The "pirate" who stopped by our table had a reasonable patter. He was terrific with the kids at another table and gave them pirate hats.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMA delightful surpriseOn the recommendation of friends we tried this venerable restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. Great waiter, terrific food and delightful atmosphere if you like a little history with your meal. One of the best Seafood Platter's I've had since New Orleans.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great service!!!Excellent lunch buffet. Must try to squash casserole, not good for you but good for the soul. Atmosphere was great along with the service. It was not crazy expensive but you might want to make this a late lunch and eat a light dinner later one. The food was very filling. Bill was around $80 with the tip for 4 people. I guess that's not too bad for a large lunch in Savannah.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and fun atmosphere.Great food! We went at night and the Ghost Tours are constantly walking by the table which is a little awkward. But we would definitely go back. The shrimp creole was outstanding and the Savannah Sweet Tea delicious!!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, even better tourOur meal at the Pirates' House was great. The local crab chowder in particular was delicious. Our server was extremely friendly and helpful. The highlight of the night, however, was the tour of the Pirates' House led by an employee of the restaurant dressed up as a pirate captain. He was wonderful and the tour, which was free, lasted longer and was much more enjoyable than a similar walking tour offered by a tour company later that night. The actual building the restaurant is in is historic and has all sorts of interesting and spooky quirks our tour guide showed to us. The whole experience was the most memorable part of my trip.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHistoric and fun!Pirates House may seem a tourist trap, but the shrimp, oysters, and crab were delicious, and the charm of eating in the oldest house in Georgia, the Herb House, was the highlight. Our server was delightful, and our table in the perfect spot. plenty of free pRking. Don't miss it.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMNice timeWe were a group of 6 adults first time in savannah ga
We had a private room that sat 8. We loved it It was like sitting in our own dining room
Waiter was great. Beard mustach and pony tail. Lol. Sorry cant remember his name So nice. Had the buffet. Very good and tasty. Drank a rum kracken Yum! . We had a visit from a pirate. Would have stayed longer but had to make the boat back. Told my son to go while he's in hilton head this august. With his family and friends5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were a group of 3 one beingWe were a group of 3 one being a visitor from Denmark. We all had the swordfish special which was the best piece of swordfish that i have ever eaten. Our visitor had never had swordfish before as it not fidh native to Denmark, she truly enjoyed it. The pirate who ce to our table was extremely well educated and travelled and spoke several languages and made our visitor feel right st home. She invited him and his family to contact her on his nrxt trip to Denmark and she would show themall the right places to visit. A superb evening for all. Thanks pirate's hoise.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMummm umm good!FOOD WAS GREAT REMINDED ME OF MY GRANDMAS COOKING. ..5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding serviceWe live in the local area but this was our first visit to the Pirate House. It was Mother's Day and there was a small crowd waiting when we arrived. We were seated quickly and received excellent service. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was so nice. The building itself is historical and was decorated nicely. There is plenty of off-street parking, which is rare in downtown Savannah. We look forward to our next visit!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingEvery time we've been we've had an amazing experience and Mother's Day was no different. Thankfully we were put in a well lit back room with other families with children so as not to disturb those celebrating without children. Our waiter was wonderful. He was there when we needed us but not bugging us when we didn't (which is tough when you're battling with two toddlers and getting them to eat). This is a restaurant I see our family spending all major holidays and special occasions for many years to come!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat lunch buffet!Highly recommend the southern buffet for lunch. EVERYTHING was excellent, especially the fried chicken. Can't say enough good things about the food. Great historical spot and fun for all ages.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food! The pirates wereGreat food! The pirates were a bit strange, but I am sure little kids would love them!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Pirate's House has beenThe Pirate's House has been a favorite of our family for more than 45 years. If that isnt enough of a statement about this restaurant then too, bad. I have been dining here since I was 4 or 5 years old, I'm now 50 and I still like it just as much as I ever did.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMoverallWe felt everything about the Pirate House was outstanding5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe drove from Atlanta to eatWe drove from Atlanta to eat here and it was very good food. Huge portions and a great experience.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMPirate HouseThe food at Pirates House was awesome. Great service and a cool unique atmosphere. Lots of history in Savannah and this definitely fits the bill. Would recommend it to anyone5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and service. We just spent our 20th Ann. at the Pirates' House and enjoyed the two times we went.....It was really fun the Pirates actually came to our table and had a conversation with us. The food was delish. And we got a free tour of the house. It was so much fun we will be coming back asap.5/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful TimeGreat experience! Very energetic. The place was packed. Lunch was great. We had a party of 15 split into two tables. Our server was great, getting everything right considering how busy they were. Reasonable prices. Costumed employees dressed like pirates came around to the tables. A great touch! We had pictures taken with them. Lots of fun. Everyone enjoyed themselves.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPirate's HouseThe food was fabulous and the waitress was very attentive. Great food, great service.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMPirate HouseNight time - The fried chicken/ pecan syrup is to die for.. Not only is the food good, but the atmospher is even better..
