Diner Reviews
  • "My girlfriend and I decided to meet for dinner and I chose the Palm. It turned out to be the a great choice. The food was delicious and the service was good. We let the bartender recommend a good Pinot Noir and it was excellent! I will definitely return!!"

  • "As always, a wonderful experience at The Palm ... we got lucky and had Dario as our waiter - he is simply the best."

  • "all good marks for this restaurant but the wine list markup on many of the wines was ridiculous. They would make up in volume the difference just by marking up the bottles by $25. This would bring bigger crowds on the slow nights. The competition is moving in this direction and you do not want to be left behind."

  • "We had a group of 6 for a special occasion luncheon. Our server was wonderful and the meals were delicious!!"

  • "The Palm has always been a family favorite for fine dining and special occasions. We love the fresh seafood and steaks and the service and atmosphere are truly perfect."

  • "This Palm was sorely in need of a redo which has finally come through as of August of 2013. Thankfully and finally the service and food quality is up to the east coast standards."

  • "A lot of hype about the Palm, but I do not know why. Service was good, but not outstanding, food was good, but far from the best available in Houston. Our $300+ dinner for two was well overpriced considering the service and the food. Can think of several places where we would have done much better for considerably less."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "We went for dinner and although the service was a little slow, the food was delicious. The steaks came out perfectly cooked, the lobster was exceptional and the swordfish outstanding."

  • "I love this Restaraunt. It reminds me of what Old Houston during the Oil Days was like. You would see all the celebrities here, when it wasn't trendy to go to just be seen. This is like it hugs you when you come in, and again, memories of old."

  • "Entrees and sides were superb. Service was lacking for a restaurant in this class. The desert was also not up to standards. These deficiencies may be the exception and due to temporary staff issues. I have dined here in the past and had a completely wonderful experience."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Found the lobster to be of poor quality and smaller than what they advertise. Their side dishes were nothing special. Mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts. Found the waiter trying to act more like a butler. Felt a bit phony. If you want to show off your new Ferrari then thats a good place to go, but if you want to get what you expect when paying 200$ for dinner, there are better places out there."

  • "One thing you can count on at The Palm is consistency. Food was very good and the service was attentive. The steaks and lobsters were exceptional. Side dishes were good. Pass on the warm donut desert - they are very heavy."

  • "My wife received word she was offered a new job and I wanted to celebrate her achievement. We only had one hour. I asked her to meet me at the Palm, I made the reservation on Open Table only one hour before our scheduled time. Within an hour we enjoyed a New York Strip Steak, pre-sliced and a 3lb. Lobster! As always it was delicious and the meal ended with complimentary Lattes after I mentioned to our waiter he news about my wife's job. We had a wonderful celebration in a very short time! This is a sample of The Palm's consistently excellent efforts to please their customers."

  • "We had steak and Lobster. The Lobster was great as usual, however the steak was below par, it lacked the flavor normally associated with Prime beef."

  • "Reservations on a Saturday. Seated immediately. I got the surf and turf (half large lobster; 14 oz ny strip). She had stuffed lobster with crab. Food was awesome. Service excellent. Searching for any criticism the waiter forgot to ask (and I forgot to say) how I wanted my steak cooked but it came out perfect - pink in the middle. Cheesecake for desert was incredible. Extensive wine list but marked up significantly in price, more than most restaurants. Over all - excellent but expensive."

  • "The new Palm is hopping. The bar and tables around it are packed with friendly and interesting people. You'll always find someone to talk to and the bartenders are very helpful and friendly. The updated restaurant has more space and the food is just as good as always. Part of me misses the old, wood bar but times must change and I think the more modern Palm will continue to thrive for many more years to come."

  • "Restaurant is known for class and that is just what you get. No problems, Great waiters, GREAT FOOD!."

  • "This was our first experience at The Palm and we celebrated my husband's promotion. Everything was smooth, the food was delicious, and the wait staff was attentive and pleasant. I highly recommend this place for to celebrate a special occasion!"

  • "Four in attendance for Birthday Celebration. Average cost per person was not bad: $55 before tip. Food Quality: Marginal Spinach & Pear Salad. Long stems on the spinach - the pear looked and tasted dry and old. Lamb T-bone. Tough. Vegetarian Dujour. Excellent. Shrimp Cavatappi. Excellent. Lobster Flatbread. Excellent. Caeser Salad. Passable but not recommended. Grilled Trout. Fishy tasting. Stuffed Mushrooms. Excellent. Grilled Filet Mignon. Passable but not recommended. Red Velvet Cake and Chocolate Rasberry Cake. Excellent. Bar drinks and wines. Excellent. Service- Excellent. I recommend Seasons 52 for drinks with Appetizers. Not recommended for dinner - marginal quality of entrees and noisy atmosphere."

  • "The Wedge lettuce salad was GREAT, as was the service. We also ordered two filet mignons. My wife's was great, but mine had three areas of gristle. Also, we ordered a Half & Half (half potato fries and half onion rings) but they were over-cooked. Alll-in-All, we were somewhat disappointed."

  • "While going through the bill, I found out we were charged $34.50 for one glass of their house cabernet. We didn't complain, but we will not be going back!"
    Dined on 2/21/2014
  • "Great food, but at a price. Seriously $100 for a small lobster and another $54 for an ok steak. Don't get me wrong, my wife and I enjoyed our dinner, had a fairly quite booth and some nice food. But total bill was $265 with no wine included."

  • "I found The Palm in San Antonio 2 years ago and now look them up in every city I travel to and take clients to them because I know I will get excellent food, service, and great ambience for impressing new clients."

  • "The Palm has a great ambiance, friendly and attentive staff, and beautifully prepared dishes!"

  • "Wonderful table, waiter and food. We had the best bottle of wine, it was recommended by the sommelier who took an extra amount of time to help us pick the perfect bottle. He brought out 4 bottles and describe each and we then made our decision. It was wonderful. We love the remodel!! A must go to place!!"

  • "Arrived for reservations, had to wait 45 minutes before being seated. Waited at the bar ordered a cosmo martini that was $15. After being sat and placing our order, it took a very long time before the food arrived."

  • "It was the 42nd anniversary of our engagement and we couldn't have picked a better place to celebrate it. The food was over the top and the wait staff couldn't have been nicer."

  • "Always have received excellent service and have never received a bad meal dining at the Palm."

  • "We went to the palm to celebrate my brithday. Service was ok, but didn't meet my expectations(not as good as Palm in DC). The bacon-wrapped scallops and lobster bisque were delicious . We went to the Palm for steak so we both ordered filets. They were cooked perfectly, but my husband's cut of meat was not acceptable. It had a thick fat line and was full of gristle. Not wanting to ruin my birthday, he just quietly chewed his steak and then spit out the gristle he couldn't swallow. You shouldn't have to spit it out pieces of a $50 steak! I mentioned this to our waiter and he just shrugged and walked away. No apology, no acknowledgement, nothing! Watching him struggle to chew his $50 steak was very upseting and ruined my birthday dinner."

  • "Imagine our surprise when we arrived and found that they had no record of our Open Table reservation! Kind of embarrassing. We were able to get a table in the bar which had open seating, so the evening was not lost."

  • "Entire bar staff knowledgable about wines, tequilas, and anything else you could think of. Bartender named Haley D was top notch. I recommend to anyone in Houston for a great evening!"

  • "After a busy convention day, we enjoyed a wonderful meal with great wine."

  • "The Palm has been renovated which has given it a better ambiance and is much quieter; however, the food is still fabulous as is the service. It is a favorite of ours!"

  • "great style of lobster preparation, and an attentive waitstaff made for nice b day celebration. since female lobster not in season, enjoyed our 5 lb male. one really big claw, and sweet tail meat."

  • "While we felt the food and service were excellent, the noise level was excessive for this kind of dining. In no way should a $400+ dinner for four have to compete with the high noise level - It diminished the experience..."
