Diner Reviews
  • "Soft jazz playing in the background and an innovative choice of selections on the menu equaled a lovely Easter Brunch experience. We did not want a huge buffet that we could not eat so we chose a restaurant that had menu selections for brunch rather than a buffet. We ordered mimosas to give a festive start to our brunch. My eggs benedict dish was perfectly prepared with an innovative "horseradish" hollandaise sauce and accompanied by the signature breakfast potatoes. My spouse's "meat-lover's" omelet was prepared with homemade sausage. Each plate came with a "peep" cleverly nestled into the entrée. Both were very tasty. We finished the meal with the Bread Pudding and declared one of the top bread puddings we had ever eaten. "

  • "My husband and I dined here for the first time this past weekend. We had great food, wonderful service and an all around food time. We definitely will be returning and will recommend it to friends."

  • "We came in at 8 pm for dinner on a Friday, and the atmosphere was vibrant and bustling without being chaotic. The lighting was low but not to the point that we couldn't read the menu. We ordered drinks and the shrimp appetizer and were really pleased with the shrimp. He ordered meatloaf and I got the scallops and we were both very happy. Finally, we split bread pudding and it was very moist and flavorful. My ONLY minor complaint about the evening was that everything came out really quickly. I know that wouldn't be a complaint for most people and we could have ordered more spread out but it was our first time there. I just enjoy a slow, relaxing meal, especially when I enjoy the ambiance of a restaurant. Overall, great experience!"

  • "First time dining at this restaurant. Good service. Food was really good, a lot more upscale than I expected. Had a decent craft beer selection too. It was very loud though and not well lit. Overall though I would definitely go back!"

  • "Cannot say enough good things about Northside Social. Service was great and everyone in our party got fish dishes; all done to perfection and so flavorful. I almost asked for bread or a spoon to finish the miso broth my Mahi Mahi came with. Also highly recommend triggerfish dish my husband had. Yum! Outstanding cocktails and bread pudding was large enough to share!! We will definitely be back and bring our dinner club this time."

  • "My boyfriend and I went out for a date night. It was our second time going to Northside Social and again, it was great. Our service was great and very fast. After ordering our food it came out very quickly and was delicious! We actually discussed how much we liked the restaurant during our meal because we get great service and the prices are fair. We liked how it is 'classy casual' as we called it. We also liked the fact that there are TVs that you can see from anywhere in the restaurant but they are not in your face if you don't want to watch. It has a great ambiance and we have decided to make this our go-to place since we always have a great time and it is close to home."

  • "We had always wanted to try NS Social. Went on a Saturday night, which was a mistake, had to shout to hear each other. Food was great, but I would only come back on a week night ( unless I was with a big, loud group!>"

  • "We had a party of 8 and they got us in on time and took wonderful care of us. Thank you to the bartender who swapped my wine when I was being picky! Also, note, the German Chocolate cake is GINORMOUS."

  • "At the tail end of what used to be one of the more downtrodden strip malls in Broad Ripple is a place where you'll find a surprisingly good meal. It isn't much to look at... yet. No, it's not your great aunt's back den, but the proprietors chose their investments carefully: good service, well-trained, and a chef who understands entrees. The beer brisket is right on the money -- superb flavor, and you can put your knife away. Side dishes need some work. It's not necessarily a romantic place to take a date simply because the decor doesn't scream "love" -- it's more like what St. Elmo's might look like if it were designed in this century."

  • "We really enjoyed our night out. The noise and the darker ambiance was fine for us. Only concern I had was that our reservation via email said 6:30 and the restaurant said our reservation said 6:00pm. I was shocked at the difference in time. I showed the hostess my email from Open Table and luckily she took us right away to our table with no issue. Hope this doesn't happen in the future."

  • "It's a good solid restaurant. Glassware should be better given the pricing."

  • "Very Good food, great service, but too dark to read menu ( server had tiny flashlight on hand to help) and too loud to hear person talk across table comfortably. Was pricey. Would go back, but try another day ( other than Sat. night) and ask for different seating for better lighting."

  • "We had talked about eating here for years and finally decided to try it. We ate early to take advantage of the "Early Bird Special." The website indicates that it is available daily, but when we arrived at the restaurant we found out it was only good on Monday-Friday. That started the evening off on a bad note. I was a little surprised by the number of TV's in the bar area. It takes away considerably from ambiance in the dinning room. They have a large selection of draft beers and a number of wines by the glass, all at very reasonable prices. The Beef Bourguignon needed to simmer much longer, but the Barbecue Pork Tenderloin was very good. While the food was ok, there are many other better restaurants in the Indy area."

  • "First time dining experience was outstanding. The restaurant was packed on the Saturday of Valentines weekend, but we were promptly seated and served. Food was delicious. We were even able to finish our meal without rushing and make it to the movie. Definitely returning for a special occasion."

  • "Lived in Indianapolis 18 years and wished I knew about this place sooner. I went there with my wife for an evening out from the kids over the weekend. Found this on OpenTable so gave it shot. From the outside looks unimpressive but after you walk in...wow. People are friendly, interior is well kept, has decent bar set up if just wanted to hang out. Sitting area is not overly top fancy but nice enough it is business casual. Food was outstanding with lots of flavors and mix of spices and veggies. We each had different fish selections. Prices were very good. We both had a drink, salad, meal, shared dessert and coffees....for just $85. I say just $85 because this food was comparable to locations at twice that price. Great local find."

  • "Really enjoyed Valentine's dinner at the North Side Social. The food was great, service very good, but not overbearing and the atmosphere was energetic. We also found that the menu prices weren't too bad for a nice meal. Didn't know about the restaurant, but will be back."

  • "My girlfriend and I had reservations here for Valentines day. The weather was terrible and we were an hour late, were still able to be seated and get service right away! The appetizer and food was delicious. Very good cocktails and wine selection. We received our food and drinks very quickly for the amount of people in the restaurant. It did get a bit noisy to hold a conversation towards the end of our dinner but well worth a visit!! Will certainly return!!!"

  • "First time to visit. Enjoyed it tremendously. Wife has basa and I had brisket. Very good although could have done without green beans . Wonderful ambience, but a little loud. Heard entire conversation of couple at next table . Parking is a problem. Not many spaces in little strip mall. Excellent wine list."

  • "My wife and I went to The Northside Social for Valentine's Day. It was our first visit and could not have been more enjoyable. The food was fabulous, the service was very friendly and the jazz in the background made for a perfect romantic evening out. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "There were 6 of us in our party. The food was absolutely delicious! The service was exemplary. It was a very comfortable restaurant and we all agreed that we'd go back again. The only disadvantage was the noise level. The design of the restaurant must enhance the noise volume. We had to shout to be heard and it made it difficult to enjoy all the group when it was so hard to hear each other speak. Otherwise, a terrific choice for dinner."

  • "From the minute we entered the restaurant, we were treated very well. We were given our choices of the bar, a booth or a table for dinner.. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the entrees and explained every question thoroughly. Service was perfectly timed. Food was excellent, i.e. salmon, Thai shrimp. We asked if we could split a wedge and dessert and both requests were nicely accommodated. A special kudos to the water-server. Our water glasses were never less than half full. We will definitely return and recommend others to attend."

  • "I asked for a private table for a birthday dinner on the on-line reservation. Upon entering, I was greeted by name and taken, with my guest, to a table in the back of the restaurant. No one else was seated near us until the restaurant filled up. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly waitress, who asked who's birthday is it? We started with the Beef & Blue, a creamy cheese fondue, served with melt in your mouth beef tenderloin, toasted bread & sun dried tomatoes. I could have made a meal of it! I got prime rib. It was wonderful! It was cooked perfectly. It was very tender & flavorful, served with a large helping of horseradish mashed potatoes & grilled asparagus. I was very impressed & will make it my go to place from now on."

  • "We came to the Northside social for a birthday bash and really enjoyed the food. Everyone ordered something different and each dish was incredible. Don't overlook the mac 'n cheese. Wow! We also loved the cornbread."

  • "First time experience, dinner was great, loved the menu choices and was happy with my selections. Want to try a few other things. Only 2 downsides. As the dinner wore on and the place filled up even more (was already about 3/4 full when we arrived at 6:50), the noise level grew to the point my wife and I couldn't hear each other well (and we don't have hearing impairments). Seems that there are some noise-reducing things they could do that doesn't mess with the atmosphere (which was elegantly plain, which is a compliment). Other thing, the parking was terrible. Again, only about 3/4 full when we arrived, but the parking lot was already full and overflowing into the bank next door. Too bad more on site parking isn't available."

  • "I have had lunch at the Kitchenette, but this was my first time at Northside Social. Very good food and nice ambiance. I will definitely put it in my restaurant rotation. I enjoyed my beef bourguignon. Nice proximity to Broad Ripple but with its own parking lot."

  • "Great menu, fabulous food & good service, but....so crowed & noisy. Seems like they wanted to max out the seating capacity. It got very tiring trying to have a conversation there. If you want a party atmosphere while you dine, this is the place."

  • "Three of us had fish: Grouper, Trigger and Tile and one had the grilled meatloaf. We shared two tasty appetizers of the spicy green beans and the calamari fingers. However, we found the wine list lacking - and the bottle we selected was disappointing. Unless the wine is corked, The CA Sav.blanc blend had a bitter aftertaste and not great with the food or by itself. The familiar wines on their wine list are marked up far beyond the typical 100% that you expect when dining out. My suggestion would be to offer better wines both by the glass and for bottle purchase. There's nothing better than great food with equally great wine. The lousy wine altered the experience somewhat. I hope you're open to suggestions NS & improve the wine list!"
