A word from The Metropolitan Grill
The moment you step into the Metropolitan Grill, you know you have entered a classic steakhouse. Guests enter through tall mahogany doors to be greeted by tuxedo clad Maitre D’s. Cuts of beef are showcased in a glass display in the front entryway. Framed photographs of celebrities, sports heroes and local politicians, all frequent visitors to The Met, line the walls.

At the Metropolitan Grill, the focus is on the Prime beef, American and Japanese Wagyu. Steaks are seared over the high heat of the “Iron Wood of the World,” imported mesquite charcoal, ensuring the most tender, juicy steaks available. Metropolitan Grill Chefs personally select each cut that is served to guests.

The Metropolitan Grill’s award-winning wine list showcases the definitive steakhouse selection of premium West Coast red wines, with special emphasis on Cabernets, Merlots and Meritage.

I love the Metropolitan Grill, but the past two times my steak had been overcooked. This time it happened again, so my guess is that the house style for "Pittsburgh Rare" is a half step up from rare as the center was red and warm each time. Their menu should offer "blue" as a temperature, as Ulrich took that as a temp and the steak came back perfectly. Also, the wine list is exceptional and the desserts (Cherries Jubillee) were awesome!

Everything is always wonderful at this restaurant. Perfect place for a special night. Great service by James. Also, kudos to the guy (sorry I can not remember you name) who carved and presented the Chateaubriand and Bananas Foster. We all had a great evening. Fire in the hole did make another diner jump out of his seat. We ALL got a smile out of that including him. Thanks for all your great work.

All in all a nice dining experience. A couple things, we weren't finished with out salads an appetizer when they brought out main course. Then the rib eye was grisly, we were going to 5th ave Theatre, and didn't have enough time to send back. But our peach salad and the caramel bacon was delicious. Our waitress was fun and helpful.

Went for anniversary celebrations with another couple. I am not a steak eater but everyone else is. I thought I was taking one for the team until I tried my meal. The steakhouse chicken is so yummy. The rest of the group had steak. My husband said it was the best steak he has ever had. He's already trying to think of reasons to go back to celebrate 😊. So much food. The waiter was so friendly and helpful. He was awesome. They brought us out two desserts that were on the house for our special occasion. Both were delicious. It's spendy by our definition but absolutely worth every penny not one person left hungry. Great place.

My favorite restaurant and I got served the worst steak I have had since boot camp. It looked and tasted like it came from Denny's or Sizzler's. And I am not being melodramatic .I ordered a 16oz NY. It was about 3/8" thick and tough and under done. Wanted med rare, got rare. Do not know if I'll ever go back. At those prices I expect great steaks, not Denny's steaks.

Not too much more to say than "Amazing!". Excellent martini and house Cab. Started with a spinach salad and french onion soup (highly recommend both! My husband and I both had fillets (perfection)! Though already stuffed due to the generous portions we went ahead and ordered the apple dessert cooked table side. Do be warned: though served in two dishes, this dessert is fit for a table of 5-6 people. Our waiter was superb as was the gentleman who cooked table side. The entire experience was perfection!

I love the Met, was only on Seattle one night and that was my obvious choice. Been a few years since I've been there, and while I expect a restaurant of this quality to be expensive, $72 for a New York strip???? Getting a little price prohibitive.

After hearing so much about the Met Grill, the hype may have been too great. While the meal was perfectly satisfying, it was not particularly memorable except for the wine and wine service by Aaron. No fault in the place or its ambience. However, when you are paying top dollar, $83 for a 17oz bone-in filet minus 4oz for the bone, you expect a high standard. The meat was good, slightly overcooked on my mistake of not ordering medium-rare, but I've had much better quality and pricing. I can understand it is a Seattle institution, but I would be very surprised if you cannot find better.

Service was extremely slow. It literally took 20 mins for server to come & take our drink order. We decided to time when the server would come by to take our appetizer order, it was 20 mins each course. We wanted to order a bottle of wine so she sent the wine captain over. We gave him our preferences & we decided on one of his recommendations, a $150 bottle. The wine never opened up & we wanted to discus with him. he must've known it would suck becuz he never came back for our feedback! The best service we got there was from the valet guy! Anyway, the food itself was good (we got ohmi carpaccio, wagyu ny strip & filet mignon) but we still prefer John Howie's steak & service. Unfortunately, Met was not worth driving from Eastside.

My spouse and I were celebrating out first anniversary and wanted to come back here after the great experience we received last time about 2 years ago. We ordered the peppercorn encrusted steak and looked forward to our meal (we normally go for filet, but wanted to change it up). We both ordered our steaks as medium well expecting pink in the middle. Ian's steak was a bit red, but tolerable. My steak was rare throughout the center of the steak. Add to that the crust of peppercorn almost completely covered up the flavor of the steak. Our server responded and prepared a filet to my liking so dinner got saved somewhat. They comped our desert, so that helped. Really surprised something on the menu would not highlight the pepper.

I have been trying to fit in a visit to The Metropolitan Grill for several years now. Well, we finally had an free evening in Seattle and I made reservations a couple days in advance. It was worth the wait. The food was everything we could have asked for, the service was impeccable, and the bill was astronomical. Even sticking with the Prime beef, our steaks were in excess of $60. Having tried Wagyu beef at other fine restaurants, we felt that the difference doesn't justify the extra cost. The Metropolitan also offers Ohmi beef (a premier version of Wagyu, to my understanding) which gives you the opportunity to pay around $100 for 6 oz of meat. Sticker shock aside, The Met is a must for those seeking a classic fine dining experience.

I just went to the MET for my first time last weekend for my wife and I's 12th anniversary. I've heard lots of rave reviews from friends and family, and I am pleased to say that the Metropolitan Grill really does live up to the hype. Our waiter (Jim) was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant. He handled every one of our needs without being pushy or annoying. He seemed professional, not just fishing for tips. The prices were high, but I knew that going in, and I believe that it was worth it. My steak (top sirloin) and my wife's (filet mignon) were the two best steaks I've ever tasted, no joke. Anyways, I had a great time, and I highly recommend the MET to anyone.

My overall experience at the Grill was great. It was clearly an upscale restaurant with a flexible dress code. We showed up 20 minutes early for our reservation and we're seated a few minutes later. Our server was great very professional, he asked us what we were celebrating and after dinner he brought a free dessert. All though the overall experience was great I did notice, we were not treated as well as the regulars I could easily point out who the restaurant was treating as more special and it seemed like the people they didn't care about where shoved at the back in a corner of the restaurant. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive at our table which was a long wait, never received an explanation why but did receive a free dessert.
