Unfortunately patrons have seemed to disregard any form of proper dress for such an establishment. Suit and tie should be the norm, and it no longer is. There were customers in t-shirts cargo shorts and sneakers. Women in jeans and a shirt. The restaurant deserves diners that will dress the part; that is part of the allure of going to The Metropolitan. Otherwise, the lofty prices and tuxedo wait-service seem a bit on the pretentious side. I hope Seattle-ites and other guests will find their way to a button down and some slacks (and cocktail dresses for the ladies) before they next go to The Met.
The food, the service, and drinks are all superb at The Met. From the wait staff to the food to the valets, everything is top notch. I recommend the two-filet sampler-- if you enjoy beef, you must get this. I love the American Wayagu, and the Prime is an excellent contrast in taste and texture. The house Cabernet pairs well with it. I also love the onion soup. The waiter we had was perfect...he knew when to come by, knew the menu intimately and most importantly, we were never left wondering where he was. NY with garlic mashed potatoes and it was plenty of food. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and tasted fabulous, tender and flavorful! Our server was pretty good but the gentleman who brought our dinner was great!

Super disappointed that our reservations were pushed out almost 40 minutes. Your hostess was "matter of fact" about it, no apologies and not very helpful or accommodating. Told to go to the bar and someone will come get you. Later in the evening, as we were finishing up, your maitre'd, kept giving me looks like it was time to go and we were still eating, because we were seated 40 minutes late! Shared rib-eye carved at table, cooked to perfection, extremely tender; confusion on 2 sauces (cheese and one for the steak - couldn't tell which was cheese for potato/ which was for steak.) Gigantic hot baked potato, spinach was weird; i may be wrong, but thought it was to be 'creamed'; was tasty but baked dry with cheddar topping (?) - at any rate, not creamed. Fresh baked tomato -large/excellent flavor. Shared Caesar, fresh/ good. Wonderful fresh oysters! Tons of food, took home for 2 more meals. They were completely knowledgeable, and extremely patient. I went there expecting to order Steak, but after reading over the fresh sheet I could not pass on the Copper River Salmon. What a delight. I remember going to The Metropolitan Grill over 10 years ago, and it didn’t seem as special as it was on my recent visit. I really enjoyed the booth's for two, they are elevated a step up from the floor for easy in/out seating and a unique dining position I've only experienced @ the Met.
We made reservations online the day before. Our experience with all levels of the staff was welcoming and professional start to finish. Dad is gone now, so we are keeping a tradition alive with celebrating my brother's birthday at this fine establishment. The food is very good, and the service is exceptional. We will return. My husband touted the French Onion Soup as better than he has even had in France. I loved my lobster bisque. He had Buffalo Tenderloin and I had filet mignon, both were expertly prepared and very flavorful. We topped it off with tableside Cherries Jubilee, my favorite!!!! The service as usual was fantastic. We arrived 5 minutes prior to our reservation, so I figured it was Saturday night and we may have to wait a few minutes - not the case. We were seated immediately. Our server (I do not remember his name) was fantastic. Waiter was knowledgeable with the food, but was unaware of added items to the menu including additional wines. Apparently they were added on his day off. The only real "discomfort" was the actual booth itself. They were sunken in dramatically causing leg pain and left us with wanting to hurry our dinner just so we could stand up. The seating needs to be either updated or at a minimum re-upholstered. At least add cushioning to the seats.
