Diner Reviews
  • "This is a once every 3 months place because of expense. But food was great as always. One dig on ambiance: older decor, booth seats covered in duct tape. I do expect better than the dated and tired appearance. Overall a 4.5. We do love this place. Oh, careful on timing ...it was a three hour romantic dinner so careful if you have a movie planned for after."

  • "The food and service was excellent. My only suggestion I have is maybe training your host/hostess better. They walk way to fast ahead of the customer and there was no greeting. Also when we left no one was at the desk to even say good night or thanks for coming. My score would have been very poor. It wasn't a good start. Thanks to JR he turned everything around."

  • "We celebrated my husband's birthday here with our two kids. We got a booth beside several other family booths. Our wait staff was polite and attentive. Our dishes were cleared promptly. The restrooms were clean and attractive. We had the loaded baked potato cheese fondue. The kids loved dipping the bread. We also ordered the mojo cooking style with 2 orders of meat (shrimp, sirloin, duck and salmon). I liked the duck the best. My kids preferred the salmon. Be careful not to cook the meat too long or it gets tough. We had the dark chocolate fondue for dessert. The kids liked dipping the brownies. I preferred the bananas and strawberries. Overall, the food was filling and fun but pricy. We also had lots of leftovers."

  • "Fun and interactive dining. The meal is an experience. Definitely not inexpensive, but fun for a special occasion."

  • "We love Melting Pot -- and are glad to have this location (Thousand Oaks, CA) so close to where we live !!"

  • "Our server Kevin was horrible. We ordered the wine flight and did not get it until the third course! He spilled wine on my husband cell phone. He told us he had a hard table he was dealing with who he must have spent all his time with since it took forever to get our food and drinks. Our bill came out to $198 and for that you would think we would get better service. I am saddened."

  • "We enjoy eating "fondue style" & this was the only fondue restaurant we could find in the Valley. The 5 of us were squeezed in a too-small booth that had 2 heating elements in the table top. Because of the table configuration it was impossible to reach the fondue pots without knocking over glasses or elbowing one another. The oil temperature was insufficient to cook the food; the battered foods remained soggy & the meat had no color. The server was knowledgeable but aloof & condescending. He was slow to correct errors in 2 of our orders, didn't replenish the beverages without being asked, and didn't return to the table to check on our progress. The food was marginal considering the price. Someone please resurrect Le Fondue Bourguignonne!"

  • "Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly, made you feel welcomed. Food was tasty, good quality. Quiet atmosphere, relaxing if that is what you want. More decorations on the walls would make it more cozy."

  • "We celebrated a special birthday and though the Melting Pot did nothing to recognize the event we enjoyed the food and ambience. Service was friendly and prompt and the food delightful!"

  • "The staff took such good care of our family from England that came to Malibu to marry on the beach. It was a one of a kind experience that will forever be a great ending to a perfect day for them. English folks love coming to CA and this Melting Pot will forever be one of the destinations we will be visiting!"

  • "Interesting concept that doesn't produce anything special in terms of taste. Having to be careful because your table is hot is a distraction. At least it WAS expensive. Service was good"

  • "Fun night out for the girls and their girls. A little more attention to the table could be paid to the table. But the food is good and service is friendly."

  • "For the past 8 years my fiancé and I have been coming here for many occasions, anniversaries, birthdays, and just because. Have always enjoyed the service that we get here and the servers definitely make the experience even better! Would recommend this to anybody with love for food and fun experiences."

  • "I would have given the service more stars if we had not waited about 20 min just to get our wine bottle open. The place also looks a little dirty."

  • "It's great food, but unfortunately a high price tag. The server we had was awesome and so friendly. The waitstaff was on top of getting us our food and making it timely."

  • "Went to the Melting Pot for my wife's 50th Birthday and was pleasantly surprised! Had heard good things about it in the past, but had never gone before. The night was great, from seating promptly at reservation time, to the four course meal. So much food! The waiter was the best too! He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, waited on us many times, but was not nuisance. I would recommend the Melting Pot to all my friends! Thanks for making an important night great!"

  • "This was a last minute pick for date night with my boyfriend. It had a great dessert selection and was amazing! The tables around us were a bit loud, but overall it was a great experience. Would definitely go again!"

  • "My girlfriend and I went there for our first time on our one year anniversary! We got the four course deal and it was amazing! The cheese was great and all the meat was delicious! Andy favorite part was the bananas foster desert! So good can't wait to go again"

  • "Have been here several times in the last 6 months. This was my least happy experience. Server was new and I can kind of forgive this, but it did make the experience less than ideal. Overall the dinner was good, but I had taken my daughter and her boyfriend and was hoping it would be more fun, as it has always been in the past. No offense to the server, I am sure she will improve with more time."

  • "My boyfriend and I were looking for something different to do so we decided to try Melting Pot. The cheese fondue was amazing as was dessert. The main course left a lot to be desired. The seasoning on the meats was odd, some spicy. I think if I was going to go there again I would just do cheese, salad and dessert. The service was ok...not worth a $20 tip but that's 20% so it is what it is. The restaurant was practically empty yet all the guests were in the same dining room. It would have been nice if they would have spread us all out a little so we could have enjoyed some quiet, romantic time."

  • "Great service and great food. Wish the booths were up to date. Sat in a booth with some sort of duct tape. I was wearing dress pants and got the sticky-ness from the tape. Everything else was excellent!"
    Dined on 2/24/2014
  • "The experience was great. Prices very very high. Once we started cooking up the meats, chicken and shrimp, everything tasted the same. Cheddar chess Fondue very average and lacked flavor. Dessert was best of all. Worth to go for dessert only! One experience was enough."

  • "Went here for a postponed valentines dinner. It was, as usual delicious and a wonderful dining experience. Great drinks at the bar and a dinner that was very enjoyable. It was timed just right and really let's you enjoy the many that you have. It can be a little pricey but for the amount of food that you receive it is worth it."

  • "You know when you have high expectations, and they're all met? Yeah ... it was that. There's really not much to say here. The food was awesome; we had a quiet little corner room, and Kevin, our waiter, was funny and attentive and perfect. We had a couple drinks, and a four course meal. The only thing I could possibly complain about was 3/4 of the way through our meal, a couple was seated next to us, who decided the quiet romantic restaurant would be a good place to watch YouTube videos on their phone. But even that, after such a wonderful time, was something roll our eyes at and laugh off."

  • "Have been to a Melting Pot before in Missouri and swore to never eat there again but we tried this one in Thousand Oaks, CA and it was delicious...our 9 years old new favorite place =) Service was great, food was delicious; will definitely return."

  • "Any business is only as good as it's last impression on the customer. Service was pathetic. There were lots of empty tables. It seemed like there were only two waiters on staff. Short staff was a bad decision by whomever makes this call. First, we were seated and waited at least 10 minutes for the first contact with any wait staff. We ordered drinks. We waited another 10-15 minutes for them. We ordered with the description of our choice in mind. It was prepared by the alternate staff member who moved so fast food was flying al over the seats and table. Then, to our dismay, one of the key dipping foods was missing. They explained they were out of this portion. Then, 5 minutes later, it was delivered! Not fun this time."

  • "My friends and I went to the Melting Pot to have dessert, cocktails, and catch up. I made a reservation, but was running late, and it was not a problem for them to seat me after I got there. Our server was friendly and very patient with us while we chatted and took awhile to figure out what we wanted to order. The server was also very attentive, but didn't disturb us too often. The chocolate fondue was delicious as always. Overall, good place to meet up with friends and have yummy dessert."

  • "My wife and I come here about once a month. This was not one of the best visits we have had. They were training new people apparently and we were this servers second table. I understand you have to train new staff but it should never come at a cost to your guests. The cost was quality of service. The waitress was saying things like "My boss would be so mad if they saw me do this." Her trainer left her alone a lot. She continued to do things wrong while clearly knowing so. This is bad. Another trainer was training a different employee also. This trainer thought she had to speak at 100db. You could literally hear her on the other side of the restaurant. When she was near it was distracting. She really needs to dial it down."

  • "I went to the Melting Pot with my parents for New Year's Eve and it was amazing. This was likely due to the fact that we had a cheery, helpful waitress who guided us through our first time at this restaurant. We had a four-course set dining list and it was very much worth the price of $60 a person. This is not the place to go if you're in a rush, as our dinner was 2 and a half hours, but for a special occasion, it is amazing. Upon entering we were given a complimentary champagne toast, and from there had a cheese fondue, salad, entree (consisting of poultry, red meats, and seafood), and ended with a chocolate fondue. The service and food were amazing, and cooking the entree ourselves proved to be quite fun. Highly recommended!!"

  • "My sisters and I came here upon recommendation of several people. We were surprised it had been so highly recommended, as we were not impressed. The cheese dip and chocolate fondue were delicious, but the salads were not all that great. We skipped the entrees and just did the 3 courses, and it came out to about $35 a person. The service was very, very slow, and we felt we waited an excessive amount of time for everything. The waitress was friendly enough, but that is the only positive thing I would say about the service. Overall, the actual fondue part was good, but the entire experience was not worth the price and I do not believe we will return."
