A word from The Macintosh
The Macintosh opened in September 2011 in downtown Charleston, SC. Located downstairs from its sister lounge, the Cocktail Club, and bearing the one-time name of the alley that runs alongside the building, the Macintosh explores the breadth of Lowcountry flavors in a comfortable setting. Executive Chef and partner Jeremiah Bacon showcases his talent for creating upscale, American cooking using the seasonal bounty provided by his local farmers and fishermen throughout The Macintosh's menu.

  • "Great food , poor choice for date night, go with a group."

  • "Try the beef marrow bread pudding! Sounds weird but it is delicious. I was reluctant to order it but am very glad I did. Service was excellent."

  • "We just returned from a Charleston getaway and of our 3 meals (Magnolia's, Macintosh, Husk), we'd rate The Macintosh as the best! The food was incredible as well as the service and ambiance!"

  • "Great place for brunch, and a wonderful place to start out on Second Sunday in downtown Charleston. Have done it twice now and really enjoyed it both times. Food at The Macintosh is very, very good; drinks are excellent; and the staff is quite friendly and knowledgeable! Will have to try the restaurant some evening for dinner."

  • "The Macintosh is a wonderful restaurant on upper King Street. It's conveniently located (best if you can walk there), and a good sampling of low country dishes. Brunch is especially good and you'll be trading tastes just to sample others' dishes. Food is rich so prepare to take some home. Service is outstanding--they are attentive, not formal, and make you feel welcome."

  • "Just outstanding, a fun evening, great with friends and delicious, well prepared meals. Excellent wines and creative desserts. One of our favorites in Charleston SC."

  • "By far the best restaurant experience of my weekend trip to Charleston. The bone marrow bread pudding was off the charts. Service was great and the atmosphere was energetic but not distracting or overly loud. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to foodies. The Buttermilk pie is a must-have!"

  • "McIntosh is definitely a 5* place; extremely popular and creative. This is my 3rd visit and I also took family members, five total in the party. We ordered a bottle of the Fisher Unity which was very nice. All the plates looked phenomenal and were good. Both appetizers (shared) clams & oyster mushroom and the pasta were overly salty. My entree was the striped bass and it was a nice portion served over a marinara over potatoes. It was tasty. The fish charcuterie was very tasty. No complaints on the others (deckle, burger and I forgot the 5th) and they looked nice. Server was very good. I thought the wine pouring was a little too fast, that by the time the main course came the wine was gone. It seemed like someone was pouring after every sip."

  • "I can't say enough about this restaurant Lauren was excellent she really helped is in our choices. Menu changes often I heard. But if you can order he Deckle & your a meat eater you will not be disappointed with this Duck was outstanding My only complaint was their Brussel sprouts too much vinegar Save room for dessert ... Try the Banana Mousse ...Yum or any of their choices"

  • "First meal - Brunch - upon arriving in Charleston. Terrific brunch with very inventive, well cooked and tasty brunch offerings. Attentive service. Place was hopping with a long line waiting for tables, but we were seated right away. A friend had recommend Macintosh, and the conciege from the hotel also listed this as one of her top choices. Both were right. We would definitely return."

  • "Charleston is one of my favorite food towns and we were really looking forward to our first visit to this place. Sadly, this was the first real bust we've had there. Most (but not all) of our issues were with the service. Maybe we just had a bad waiter, as other tables seemed to be enjoying themselves, but ours was a total space cadet. It was over 50 mins. from when we were seated until the appetizers hit the table. He never asked us for a drink order- I had to flag him down (during our endless wait for the first course) to ask for a beer. My first course was a vegetable salad that I could best describe as deconstructed cole slaw. Vegetables were bland with overwhelming dressing. Not great. I will say the Deckle was very good, though."

  • "The Macintosh is one of the best restaurants we've tried in Charleston since moving here 18 months ago. Nothing disappointed from the great service to the excellent menu. The bartender was a master at mixed drinks and our meals were beautifully plated masterpieces. The chef used the perfect combination in his creations and they were absolutely delicious. We will be revisiting this gem in the near future and spreading the word to our fellow foodies."

  • "The food is always great and you just never know what will be offered on the menu....then there is always the famous Mac Burger which I am always tempted to get but cannot pass up one of the wonderful fish dishes."

  • "Ambiance was good. Dark inside. Patio nice. Service was top notch. Appetizers were as expected - awesome. Usually have great food here, and fine dining cost.. But my fish (Bass) was tough and charred (not in a good way) Disappointed."

  • "From the front door til we left the restaurant, the Macintosh was a standout. Service was impressive and personal, food was fresh, beautifully presented, and absolutely delish!!! Wait staff was amazing and so educated on the menu and flavors of charleston. Foodie heaven!!!"

  • "There is nothing wrong with this restaurant, and I am sure many recommend it. It just was not anything special on our night there. Nothing special to comment on. They served a octopus dish that was less than average that brought the experience down. Everything else was fine."

  • "Too pricey. One dish was way over salted. An interesting combination of textures and flavor in one entree. The restaurant did not live up to our expectations,"

  • "We had several friends recommend "the MacIntosh" to us and we are pleased to say that the meal was outstanding, with beautiful presentation, concentrated flavors and excellent service. You wouldn't think brussel sprouts would be a big seller, or triggerfish bologna - but oh my! The kitchen was in high demand so the meal (which consisted of 4 appetizers and 1 side as we were "mining" the menu) - so the delivery of some of items to the table was slow, but this let us savor our choices, enjoy our evening, and let our tummies settle for the next course. It says a great deal about the MacIntosh that the manager and waiter made ample apologies and sent us home with extra desserts! Change the music from 80s to jazz and it's perfect. Bravo!!!"

  • "The evening began with perfect Grey Goose martinis. Next I had grilled octopus for a start and a luscious ...very delicate flounder for entree. Another had scallops ceviche (fabulous) and a grilled striped bass. We shared the Bone Marrow Bread Pudding and almost licked the plate! Charleston is a vibrant foodie city and Macintosh is the epicenter!"

  • "Food was excellent and the waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the food sources (this is a farm to table establishment) and the details of preparation. Many unique entrees not found elsewhere."

  • "I give it thumbs up for most original drink. The Witchdoctor: High Wire Vodka, cucumber, elderflower, mint, sechuan button! YUM! The food speaks for itself...."

  • "The service and food were excellent this past Friday night. I highly recommend the Seafood Charcuterie, the pork Ravioli and the 7 oz. Grilled CAB Deckle. We will definitely return on our next trip to Charleston."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant. Two of us had the CAB Deckle. It was the best ribeye in Charleston. Looking forward to a return visit."

  • "Everything was terrific at Macintosh. Our waiter was wonderful and we followed his suggestions on what to order and we were not disappointed. We will definitely dine there again soon."

  • "Great southern cooking and hospitality in a current, casual environment. Chicken and waffles, omelette, biscuit and grits were all outstanding for brunch. Traditional foods with a modern touch. Good french press coffee, too!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Again I visited here for their fantastic Sunday Brunch. Nothing beats a southern biscuit with their delicious, savory orange marmalade. My dining partner enjoyed the "interactive" Witchdoctor cocktail, which is accompanied by a spicy szechuan button. Fun! The vegetable frittata was refreshing, although it would have been a tad low-salt without my side order of bacon. The "starter" course of an egg sandwich on a brioche roll is really fine for a meal. The french fries were yummy, and the serving was huge - probably enough for about 8 people! As always, the service was impeccable. The decor/scene is under-the-radar cool. Definitely one of my favorite US restaurants."

  • "Last evening was our first visit to The MacIntosh and it was wonderful. Our waiter Chris was outstanding...very knowledgeable about food and wine, and he often checked with us during the meal to see how everything was going. He has a nice sense of humor, too. The food was simply THE BEST... from the vegetable salad, to our triggerfish and scallop entrees to the lovely coconut lime parfait for dessert. And the free valet parking is a very nice extra. It was a great experience all around."

  • "Food and service was good, however we were rushed through the meal. Would have enjoyed more if we had more time between courses."

  • "Had friends visiting from California, took them here and was joined by another local couple. Everything was wonderful! Our waiter, whose name escapes me at the moment, was fantastic. Cocktail menu was very good, loved the Paloma Flower. Had "clam pudding" appetizer, which sounds questionable, but was one of the best things I have ever eaten!! I am gluten free, so there were a few delicious sounding items I could not try. We visited 3/21/2014. Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be back soon."

  • "Heard a lot of positives but thought it might be art than food. Instead everything was delicious with combinations of ingredients that really worked. Will definitely go back on my next visit."

  • "Varied menu and excellent preparation drew us to this romantic fine dining spot on upper King. We sampled the decadent bone marrow pudding, seared scallops and pork ravioli for starters. The sea bass prepared in a caccatiore style was succulent. The triggerfish was also a delicious combination of flavor. We were disappointed in the duck' pho'. It needed a more flavorful broth. Dessert was a buttermilk pie and goat cheese 'whoopie' pie. Again, delicious."
