  • "My husband tried the octopus dish and I had the wild boar. Each of these were very unique though my boar was a bit dry. The bartender was helpful and made a drink that was not on the menu which was delicious! Overall, a great experience!"

The soups of the day are usually great, the pork tenderloin is great, the salads are super fresh, the hummus plate is huge and enough for four people as an appetizer, the mac and cheese is to die for, great local brews as well - highly recommend!"

  • "We had dinner at The Local for the first time this past Saturday night and it was fantastic! The food was absolutely delicious and we loved the atmosphere. Everyone in our party commented on how much they loved the uniqueness of the restaurant, the quality of the food, the variety of choices and the fact that it worked so well for everything from family dinners to watching the NCAA tournament games while enjoying drinks at the bar. We'll definitely be back!"

  • "We happened to be in the neighborhood visiting a rehabilitating friend and made a reservation. Normally, we do not venture outside of the downtown of Indy. This place had a farm to table menu and market specials that sounded great so we tried it. It was good enough that it will make us get our passports out and venture to the northern suburbs of Indy to go again."

  • "I have never had a bad meal at The Local. Their food is always fresh, well prepared, and tasty. The selection of locally sourced food is as amazing as it is delicious. My only warning is that if you want to be seated in a reasonable amount of time on a Friday or Saturday is to make a reservation. Without one you could be waiting a quite a while."

  • "Came here with a group of five other people for Northside Nights, and the menu was so unique that we ended up veering away from the NN selections. I ended up with the bacon-fat braised octopus, which was a bit dry, but the dish was so unique that I don't regret my decision to try it once. The Local has a decent selection of local craft beers, and their semifriddo dessert was incredible. We ended up staying for several hours. Would recommend!"

  • "Although the food selections are great, the noise level and acoustics are terrible. Was a Saturday night, so might have something to o with it.Too loud for conversation at our own table. Has a stark warehouse feel. We chose this place because most in our party had not eaten there. It was great that we could all sit together (12) but did make it difficult to have conversation with those nearby. I tend to avoid kid friendly places. Unfortunately this one will be added to that list. About the food, I enjoyed the Carmelized salmon, medium well was perfect. Others had mufalerta, tenderloin, gyros and soup. French fries were delivered instead of tots, and although the server said she'd bring out a plate of tots, they never appeared."

  • "I had been to The Local before just to grab a beer and wanted to come back to check out the food. My wife and I tried it out for Valentine's Day weekend and had a great time. The menu had some unique, locally sourced options to choose from - like the Duck Burger. The service was great and so was the craft beer! Definitely recommend!"

  • "This only downside to this meal was our friend was allergic to a certain spice and asked the chef if he had put it in his chili. He said no, she got some, and had an allergic reaction instantly. She was fine, just wish they knew everything that went into their food! Other than that, great dinner and experience."

  • "the local has been serving up top quality casual dining offerings for 2+ years now. when we are in the area, we try and make a point to stop for dinner. service can be annoying slow at times, but the food is almost always very well done with top quality ingredients and flare. the lamb burger is the best around, albeit a bit pricey."

  • "I was excited to see a muffuletta on the menu. While the ingredient were wonderful, there definitely wasn't much of them. For the price I expected a hardier more substantive sandwich. While I've tried many things on the menu - the lamb burger is a favorite - I'm not sure I would order the muffuletta again."

  • "First time for 6 of us from Carmel. Arrived during the Colts game. Great energy, fun vibe. A little loud, but Colts were winning. TV's were present, but not overwhelming. The menu was amazing. Hard to choose, so many interesting, unique comfort food choices without being over the top. We ordered the hummus plate, Spanish burger, chicken and waffles finishing with the carrot cake bread pudding. Everything was superb. I noticed the kids menu and it would make any child happy. We all had a couple of beers and margaritas served in ball jars. A very fun night. Can't wait to go back for both lunch and dinner. It was so nice to have an independent restaurant that has great food and atmosphere in the neighborhood!"

  • "The Local is a fun spot near where we live, we are usually there several times a month. It is kind of spartan inside, but open and spacious and during appropriate weather, an outside section where you can dine. The restaurant is set back from the two major roads, so the outside section is pleasant. There is also a full service bar. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Food is sourced from local farms in Indiana, hence the name. Everything I have had there from salmon to the BLT has been fresh and excellent. There are some regular menu items and a good number of new items periodically. My wife has Celiac and the staff is attentive to gluten free needs and has a specific menu of gluten free dishes. I have never been disappointed."

  • "Nice local farm products in the menu. Lamb, Bison, Duck, & traditional beef burgers are all served very well. A gluten free bun such as the one available @ Bru-Burger in Downtown Indy is a must this day & age. A few more gluten free options in the salad and pasta (corn pasta) area would be a real plus. My choices as a gluten intolerant person were extremely limited but what I chose ( Lamb burger minus the bun) was excellent."

  • "The Local boasts eats and drinks from local vendors. The array of food items is satisfying and the food itself was enjoyable. I loved the feel of a brewery or tap room with several options for sports on the many televisions. My only complaint is that the beer selection was mainly Sun King. I would have liked to have seen some of the other local breweries on tap. However, maybe they rotate and SK is what they had on this particular evening. I would definitely recommend, especially for a double date or group. I will be back."

  • "Nice evening dinner. My wife had a Chicken Ranch sandwich with no bun and a salad. I had Bangers and Mash with smoked venison bratwurst. Both where tasty and mine was too large to finish. The menu was down to about 10 main courses (out of my 1st choice, Lamb Stew), with Bison steak the most expensive at $28. Several sandwich and bar food selections, but out of my 1st beverage choice (Dragonfly IPA). With Football games were on the TV’s in the somewhat a sports bar area that was only partially separated by a wall, the noise level was only moderate."

  • "We'd read a lot of good reviews so decided to to try it out for ourselves and it certainly didn't disappoint. I had the bison ribeye which was outstanding. My wife had the sturgeon which tasted like it was just caught. Delicious. We didn't care too much for the fruity bread pudding but overall it was a super dinner experience. Great service as well. We will certainly be back."

  • "But more kids there than Applebee's. We were there on a Friday night at 645 as a couple and had been there before several times but never seen so many young children there. Excellent food and inspired menu that changes often. Locally sourced. But so many kids made it loud and not a great choice for a couples dinner. Will plan accordingly next time and not waste the $ on a sitter! Our food was, as always, excellent. Lots of choices and amazing Mac n cheese (hence the kiddies?!)"

  • "The food was great, The service was great. The decor was nice. The short ribs were delicious and perfectly prepared. Get the goat cheese appetizer. But the flickering compact fluorescent lights need to go, or be replaced with LEDs, or have an appropriate dimmer, or something. No one went into an epileptic seizure, but reading the menu was somewhat nauseating."

  • "We had enjoyed The Local's creative offering at Dig IN 2012 and it took us 18 months to check them out. From 7-8:30 it was packed with families and sooooo loud. Our goat cheese appetizer was good but the French bread was blah. Multigrain or crusty artisan bread would be better. My fusilli with bison sausage literally was 1/2 a pound of pasta with 4 little pieces of sausage and 6 green strings of probably spinach and lots of cream sauce. My husband's tenderloin was thickly breaded and not crisp. The tater tots were good. My peach crisp had a chocolate drizzle and I can't imagine why."

  • "since it's been around a while so they must be doing something right & figured we'd try it - interesting menu, old stuff & nuvo, changes weekly which I'm not sure I like - when I find something good, I wanna go back & have it again, not likely here & current menu not up to date online - food was good, hummus plate was huge - place was busy, lots of kiddies & noise - might try the bar side next time, it's divided from the dining area"
