Diner Reviews
  • "This restaurant has a great location, but is more focused on being a bar than serving good food. My buddies and I were in Boston for the first time, and chose this place as a starting point. The service was slow, and the food was way overpriced. My friends got the burgers, and the bottom bun of the burger was soaked, and the taste was unmemorable. I ordered the steak frites, which was overcooked and under-seasoned. For drinks, appetizers and to hang out, this place is fine, but if you're looking for good food, look elsewhere."

  • "This is a great restaurant. Boston nightlife, food, service and ambience is perfect. The price is a little high but it matches with the service. Parking is the only hustle like any other place in the city. But there's a $5hr parking 5min walk away."

  • "I went to the Living room with couple of friends to catch up and I liked that they had a dining room separate from the lounge area. There was DJ mixing music after 10pm. Overall we had great experience."

  • "There was a large party of us here for a bachelorette party. The atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. The Asparagus frites were delightful. It was a little expensive, but we had a lot of fun. I would like to try this place at night."

  • "I reserved a table here for my birthday, it was a great atmosphere and very laid back setting with good cocktails and food! I really enjoyed it and would recommend for a laid back evening!"

  • "I called earlier in the week to let the restaurant know that we would be going there after an improv show for a bachelorette party. The Living Room was the perfect venue. We were put into the private party area in the back, and we were still able to enjoy the music. Our server was AMAZING. Everything was very reasonably priced, and we even ordered a few appetizers for everyone too. We kept talking the next day about how perfect the Living Room was as part of the bachelorette party. We will DEFINITELY be going back. I highly recommend this lounge!!!"

  • "We had a great time, it was my niece's 7th bday. The whole restaurant sang. Would highly recommend!! "

  • "The service was very slow for both drinks and food. There were inaccuracies in the orders and a lack of attentiveness by the waitress to see how the food was, refill water, etc. "

  • "Went there for brunch and the food was great. Chef Andreas has a great menu and the food was outstanding"

  • "I love this place! Perfect location, great prices, great food. It feels like an upscale lounge but the prices are so good, it's a great combination. The atmosphere is also great. It's perfect for either dinner or drinks (or both). My only issue with it was that our service was ridiculously slow. Like we were sitting for 15 minutes before we even got menus! But our waitress was incredibly nice and everything besides the speed was great."

  • "The menu could be a little more varied and original but overall its good, great for a larger group and prices reasonable. Good location, too."

  • "My family and I stopped into the Living Room before the Celtics game. Having lived in the North End for several years I had known The Living Room as a place to grab drinks but I was curious to try the food. The food blew me away. Apparently, The Living Room just hired a new Chef who used to work at several Ritz Carlton hotels. The food was incredibly delicious and the service was very professional. The portion sizes are generous and the selection is a refreshing break from the typical Italian fare you find in the North End. The Chef is very creative with the presentation of the meals. I highly recommend the lamb meatballs. I would absolutely recommend The Living Room for dinner."

  • "I go to the L.R. for brunch every 5-6 wk. I come back because it is convenient, usually not crowded and they take reservations (many brunch places in this area does not!). Plus the food is good (yummy steak and eggs) and the environment is nice. (couches, lots of light, a fireplace and piano, nice bar). That being said, the timeliness of the brunch needs to improve. Usually I blab away with friends so it's not that big of a deal, but most recently I noticed it took about 35 min for a simple 2 plate order. I also had to ask for more water and coffee... things I think should always be topped off. Then we languished as our plates were cleared but no bill came, once it did, another 5 mins before she came back for cards. Speed it up!"

  • "...And we were surprised to see a change in menu. We had remembered the menu offering more food and drink options, but now it's evident that The Living Room is going for a more upscale vibe with limited menu (which is fine, but not what we had been expecting base on past experiences). They definitely take pride in the visual presentation of the food, but it's definitely pricier compared to how it used to be last year. Overall, I don't think I'll personally be frequenting this place as much, because it's more of a special-event type place and no longer as casual., but it's still a great place!"

  • "food was excelent. Portions not too large, which is great for me since I would rather enjoy an appetizer and a meal without feeling toooooo full........ How ever the coffee was terrible....... That was the only negative....."

  • "When I came in on a Friday night and discovered that, while the bar was packed, the dining room was literally empty, I was pretty apprehensive. But what we experienced was a lovely, quiet dinner that featured creative twists on standard fare. For example, my husband's fish and chips were light and not greasy at all, and served with fried asparagus stalks instead of french fries. The decor was modern and classy, and the staff we attentive without being obtrusive and extremely accommodating of both food allergies and our tight schedule. This is definitely a location that I could spend a couple of hours at, leisurely enjoying wine and dinner. I hope that the word is spread, so that next time the dining room will be much more full!"

  • "I absolutely loved the food. Seriously, my mind is changed forever about Salmon. The wait staff however? They were terrible. First they kept trying to push the coat check. Ask once, if we don't want to do it, please don't follow us to our table and remind us twice it exists. We get it. It took almost ten minutes for someone to come get our drinks. She apologized profusely, but then took forever to come back with our drinks. Our meals, again, took forever to come out. We were all freezing as well, so it was a good thing we kept our coats. We didn't tell the wait staff, however, because we had already pegged them as really not caring that much."

  • "I came for brunch, but I imagine this is more of a latenight hang out place. It was basically empty when we got to the restaurant. It has a beautiful sprawling space, and is arranged very nicely with tall tables, regular tables and couches. The food was decent, typical brunch fare. Not too great, but I was just thankful to find a brunch place on a Saturday! It was cute too, all the waitresses were in PJ bottoms for brunch. The only bad part of my whole experience was the annoyingly loud and bad music blaring from the speakers right above our table."

  • "The Living Room was an absolute treat. I met my sister there for brunch. We are outside and enjoyed the sunny late August weather and enjoyed the view if the Christopher Columbus park. I had a delicious chicken and avocado club sandwich on a fantastic sourdough bread. It was absolutely amazing. My sister had chocolate chip pancakes with bacon. Our server was pleasant, attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. Overall, our brunch was quite pleasing. I am totally looking forward to my next trip to Boston and a meal at The Living Room."

  • "I went to The Living Room with two friends and we had a blast. Who wouldn't want to eat dinner on a comfy couch after a long day at work? We ordered a few appetizers including the nachos which were amazing. We also ordered the Mac & Cheese which was THE BEST dish I've ever had! You could tell that the cheese sauce was homemade and cooked to perfection. And if you go you MUST try one of their martinis. I will be going back just for their Red Sox Martini!"

  • "Went for Sunday Brunch on Father's Day. Had reservations right when they open at 11AM. Arrived 15 minutes early and was (politely) told to leave and come back in 15 minutes. We chose to sit outside as it was a beautiful morning. Very nice ambience; not too noisy with traffic. Took a while for a server to come to us and we received our first drinks at 11:20. Took another 30 minutes before breakfast came but it was worth the wait. The best blueberry pancakes & huevos rancheros we've had. My wife ordered a second drink but it never arrived. Hoping it was just a bad service day because the food was fantastic. I am willing to give them a second chance because of the food. We were there 90 minutes, which for breakfast is too long IMO."

  • "We were looking for an early (5:30pm) dinner in the neighborhood because we had plans at 7.. Unfortunately traffic delayed us until 6- Everyone was so accomodating still- from the manager to our server to the kitchen. We had a delightful dinner and didn't feel rushed, despite the state we arrived. I would imagine if this occurred during peak time it may not have turned out as well, as this restaurant was quite filled by the time we left - but lucky us. Will def be back :-)"

  • "This very busy bar had a surprisingly empty restaurant area. We had a large group (14), and despite the restaurant area being more than half empty, it took over three hours to to have a few appetizers and entrees. No one bothered with desert because it was already 10:30 by the time we had finished our entrees. We rarely saw our waitress. Drinks, even water, took forever to order and receive, much less refill. The food was TGI Fridays-type fare, but a bit pricier. It was not bad, just a lot of fried or processed, high calorie items. The bar area looked fun, active and inviting, with couches and coffe table in some spots. And the bar manager was very helpful getting a car service to pick up part of our group, because it was raining."

  • "Not very impressed with the food. It was just ok, nothing that great to rave about. Drinks were very strong, cool scene, great crowd, servers and staff all very friendly. Accommodated our very large party with making a simple online reservation 5 days in advance. They had out table ready on time for it also."

  • "I went to the Living Room for dinner on my birthday, and I have to admit that I was disappointed. I thought that the appeal of the restaurant was that you could eat in the lounge area, but since my brother is only 20 years old we were not allowed to sit there. The dining room was abandoned, quiet, and almost completely dark- not exactly what I had in mind for a birthday dinner (on a Saturday night at 7:30)! Before we had even finished paying the check, the waitstaff came over and placed a 'reserved' sign on the table. I thought that was so rude! The Living Room might be fun for drinks, but skip the dinner."

  • "We stopped by The Living Room last night because they have the best veggie burger (with sweet potato fries) in the North End. We were sad to learn that they've taken the veggie burger off the menu! It was a quiet Thursday night so we opted for a cobb salad, which was very good and the turkey tips. Overall it was a good meal, the server was very kind and we enjoyed ourselves. Please bring back the veggie burger though!"

  • "I really like this place, this is only the second time here. The first time, maybe 2 years ago I had the best piece of Tuna I had ever had and my friend had the best Swordfish she ever had. I took my boyfriend this time and the space is still awesome but I was not overly impressed with the food this time. I had the roasted tomato soup, flavorful but too salty and the pan seared salmon which was cooked perfect but lacking anything to write about. My boyfriend had the specials of the night, the salad was the favorite. The waitress was great and the martini's were awesome. I did not like that all the bar tables were reserved, it was not very inviting."
