Diner Reviews
  • "Great food, eclectic dishes, fresh inventive, Jason our server was most helpful. Desserts are a "must save room for" part of the dining experience. "

  • "Never disappointed with the food and service. The restaurant was busy and crowed. Our server Matthew was attentive and knew the menu. Do not even think of going here without reservations. Always a nice time."

  • "One of the best Wedge Salads I've ever eaten! And, I'm from New Orleans and we know food! The Grouper Piccata & the fried crab claws are exceptional. Pensacola Beach is vey lucky to have a place like this restaurant, it is a gem!"

  • "The Grand Marlin is a wonderful establishment. It is by far the best restaurant on the beach. Prices are fitting for the quality of food. The Tuesday night Surf 'n Turf special is great, both in taste and price. The staff is always friendly and efficient. The cocktails are to-die-for, as well as the dessert. I recommend this restaurant for almost any occasion! It is not exactly "made for kids" but I have seen many families dine here and they seem to enjoy themselves."

  • "Tired of the "kid" bars and restaurants in PCB? Well, this is for you! Great crowd with quality people, all ages who enjoy a healthy bar scene and fabulous gourmet food! It's a higher end restaurant but definitely worth the money! Start with the oysters, all are great, meals are large and can be shared. Dine before 5 and they have great discounts!!!"

  • "We were on the island for a special event and decided to try this restaurant for a special meal. Made reservations and asked for a table with a water view and also a let them know it was a birthday. The experience was above and beyond what we had expected. We tried the Ciopinno and Raw Oysters and the food was wonderful. Our waiter provided great service, and we they have an awesome atmosphere with water views inside and outside! Based on our experience while in the area there are a lot of great restaurants in beach area, but this one tops them all!"

  • "In my opinion, the best dining option on the island. Definitely need a reservation. The food was excellent. We were seated in the outside bar area, so it was a little more casual and noisy. I assume because we were outside, the water & cocktails were served in plastic cups... Other than that - excellent meal, excellent service."

  • "This is the best restaurant on Pensacola Beach. The food is consistently delicious, and the service always good. The BBQ shrimp, gumbo, and praline ice cream dessert are musts. I haven't had a cocktail there that I like yet (way too sweet), but they have a great wine list. It's a large restaurant, but it's always very clean, even on the outdoor patio. The outdoor patio seating is more causal than indoors, but both have great water views. Sunsets are especially nice inside. I can't recommend it enough."

  • "Excellent food, service and view of the moon rising over Santa Rosa Sound. Must be doing something right - always packed. One of my family's area favorites since they opened."

  • "booked a reservation on OT for a Sunday evening dinner with family to celebrate some milestone birthdays. We had an amazing server, the food was great and they had a kids menu for my 7 year old nephew. Highly reccommend.. not my first time.. I love sitting out in the Northdrop bar for drinks with friends after a day at the beach. A late night tapas stop with the date for some lobster mac and cheese or raw oysters.. i lived in Atlanta for over 10 years.. and I am so happy to have a place that reminds me of all those great places in the city."

  • "Our dining experience was good, but not as good has it has been in the past. The wine that we used to love has been replaced by something that I am sure is cheaper for them to buy. The new brand is not anywhere near as good as the other brand. I wanted to send it back, but my husband insisted we keep it. The food was good, but again, not as good as in the past. I think the quality in general, has gone down hill. The shrimp cocktail was disappointing. The shrimp was tough and there was very little cocktail sauce served with it. We will try again in a few months to see if they can go back to the excellent restaurant they used to be."

  • "The Grand Marlin definitely qualifies as a must visit restaurant. Casual semi out door option as well as formal indoor option. New menu each day and exquisite options and good stand bys."

  • "The service was great as usual, though the hosts seemed to be a little confused by their jobs. Food was good and the drinks we ordered from the bar were great as well. Jen Ray was an excellent waitress!!1"

  • "Grand Marlin is my favorite place to go celebrate with my family. I've celebrated passing my nursing boards, my anniversary, & my birthday. Every time is both delicious and accompanied by a wonderful atmosphere. Jessica (with the adorable pixie haircut) was very attentive, got everything out correctly and in a timely manner, all with a warm friendly attitude. So long as the food stays delicious and the service is always great, you bet we'll keep coming again and again :)"

  • "Of all the restaurants in this area, The Grand Marlin is our favorite! We love to bring guests from out of town and they always rave about the food."
    Dined on 4/5/2014
  • "You guys hit a homerun with the meal and service. Jessica was just outstanding and will be requesting her by name the next time we dine at the Grand Marlin. The food was excellent and we have no problem recommending the Grand Marlin to anyone. Again, thanks for a great night out.l"

  • "If you are on vacation and looking to have that really good seafood dinner, this is it. From the raw oysters through the daily updates to the menu, this place has the seafood you are looking for. And be sure to finish with the Key Lime Pie."

  • "This was the third and last time we will be dining at the Grand Marlin. The first time we were served completely raw chicken and were told that was how it was suppose to be. The second time we only had drinks at the bar. This time, we went to watch the sunset. Although we made a reservation, we had absolutely no view from our table. Service was good until food arrived then the waitress disappeared. After 15 min. of looking for our server and watching our dinners get cold, we asked another server to help us out. Our waitress re-appeared with an obvious attitude from then on and made the dining experience unenjoyable. We gave the Grand Marlin three chances. Will never be back!!!! Oh and they charge an island fee!!!"

  • "The service was great! The food was ok. I will try Grand Marlin one more time with different food choices but my first impression of the food was that is was expensive and not worth it."

  • "Not sure what happened on Monday evening at the Grand Marlin. It took 1.5 hours for our food to arrive, and then, the special was not available for all who ordered it. The waitress was great, remaining calm throughout. She "comped" one of the meals and after asking for another round of drinks, she did that as well. We were all trying to "nurse" the drinks, but after waiting over an hour, it was nice to enjoy a free glass of wine with our dinner."

  • "We had a great meal - watched the sunset! The food was excellent - a lot of food - but it was good! I would recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Pensacola beach - great views!"

  • "Never have had anything other than perfect dinner, food always cooked to perfection and daily specials add a nice change to normal menu."

  • "Service was excellent. Views as good as the service. The food was a hit and miss. I ordered the calamari and peppers and found that it was mostly peppers. The scallops had sand in them however my wife ordered the red snapper specials which was excellent. Overall a good restaurant; however, very over priced for what you get."

  • "We always dine at the Grand Marlin as the food and service is always consistent and great. We dined twice on our last visit to Pensacola. Raw oysters are great. Fish is great. Apps great. Cannot comment on steaks or pasta as we always order seafood."

  • "We had a delicious lunch with our three children here. They do have a kids' menu. For appetizers we did Blue Angel chips and BBQ shrimp. Yummy! I had shrimp while my husband and oldest had steak with a wedge salad. All were delicious! We also had dessert. Fabulous! Try the enormous carrot cake and lemon pound cake!"

  • "Best food in Pensacola and the service (Server was named Rusty) is always great as well. My wife had a salad and the Flounder Piccata and I had the Crab Cakes and a Ribeye. It was our first wedding anniversary and we were surprised with a special dessert that was very delicious. It is worth the drive to the beach for the locals and if you're already down there don't waste your time eating anywhere else!"

  • "We dined at the Grand Marlin on St. Patrick's Day. As we followed our hostess to the table, we saw a different table in a quiet area that was unoccupied and asked if we could be seated there. She said no problem and we were seated and proceded to enjoy a very tasty Wedge salad and House salad followed by a fantastic hot meal of swordfish and grouper with great potatoes and veggies. Our server was wonderful and spot on with perfect timing to wait on us when we needed something. At the conclusion of our dinner, he brought out an incredible dessert that we enjoyed as much as we could. 'Happy Anniversary'(our 35th) was written in chocolate script on the plate! To be sure we will be returning to the Grand Marlin soon!!"

  • "Spent our anniversary at Pensacola Beach and a friend recommended The Grand Marlin. We were immediately greeted and seated. It was too cold and wet to sit outside, so we got a small booth in the dining room. On Mondays, they have raw oysters for 50 cents a piece, so we had a dozen, and then another 1/2 dozen. Yum! My pompano special for dinner was very good, but the orzo was not cooked all the way. Hubby was very pleased with his Cippino and ate every last bit. We were offered up a complementary dessert for our anniversary, which was very nice. Service was attentive and food was very good. For the beach, this is probably as good as it gets. I wish the weather had been better so we could have enjoyed a nicer view."

  • "Definitely glad we made a reservation, because there appeared to be a good wait. We didn't realize there was an internal portion to the restaurant and were very relieved to be taken inside the noise level was a little too overpowering for us. Our waitress was very knowledgeable on the menu and great at offering up suggestions on what to try. Everything we had for dinner, from the drinks to the dessert, was delicious. Very happy with our experience."

  • "Being an out of towner the name "Grand Marlin" sounded like an elegant place we should check out for good eating. The layout was better than expected with both inside and outside dinning. We selected inside seating due to the cool weather, Great viewing of the water. Celebrating the wife's birthday we did necessarily want "normal tourist selection". Food was high quality, service was great and atmosphere was what we wanted for the occasion. The Grand Marlin is on our must visit list for our next trip to the area"

  • "Not many choices to choose from especially because the me his printed daily. I came here mainly cause I was craving oysters. I got the Rockefeller and bienville 1/2 dozen each and I couldn't even finish half. I felt like it was too creamy. I was really looking forward to having some fried calamari but it seems like there was more banana peppers and pickles. It was alright not so great. But I wouldn't go back"

  • "We are regulars at Grand Marlin. However, Brunch was a first for us today. We liked the order-off-the-menu brunch selections. Our party of 4 enjoyed delicious omelets, an old-style quality cheeseburger with fries, and a generous breakfast skillet served in a small iron skillet. As for drink selections, Mimosas, Bloody Marys, etc. are done well and reasonably priced. We've now eaten Brunch, Lunch and Dinner at Grand Marlin and agree that all come highly recommended by our party. The only criticism is about the Brunch Bread Basket we ordered for the table. It consisted of 4 mini muffins and 2 mini biscuits served with a side of cinnamon butter. It was very tasty, but be aware it's basically small nibbles."

  • "I was so thrilled to see this on the menu. It was delicious and fresh, like California cuisine. Of the 5 of us, 4 ordered the grouper piccata and all loved that too. Will definitely go back."
