  • "This is my favorite restaurant in downtown Omaha. But this last visit, I was mildly disappointed. Mostly in the Ribeye steak - it was the toughest I've ever had. This ribeye was more chewy than a sirloin - my jaw actually got tired and I didn't finish it. It had very little marbling and still had grissle on the end. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) with a nice sear on the outside and warm red center, not too seasoned. So, it wasn't the person cooking the meat - it was the cut of meat, itself. Other than the steak:Latkas & asparagus were good, appetizer platter wonderful (although rather expensive - $60!). I spent $80 not including tip for dinner. Was it worth it? In this case, no - because of the steak. A+ for service, though."

  • "Cindy and I celebrated our 20th anniversary at the Flatiron as we have for roughly the last 10 years. As always, everything was fantastic! Mike, our server, was jocular and attentive without being obtrusive. The food is always top-notch. We started with the Acorn Squash Pierogi in a Cider Broth garnished with Apples baked in White Wine. It was a delight of wonderfully complementary flavors. For entrees, I had the poached lobster, and Cindy had the Rib Eye Steak with Maytag Blue Cheese butter. The lobster was terrific, the Rib Eye was off the charts good! If you are looking for romance and solitude, ask for the front table in the "V" of the restaurant. It is our favorite, and you feel as if you are the only people in the restaurant."

  • "Visiting from out of state, we had Flat Iron recommended by several people. We couldn't have chosen better! Great staff, amazing food, elegant atmosphere. Not inexpensive, but we left feeling like we got the experience we were looking for---Something we rarely really feel after a fine-dining experience. The people made the difference. The food was amazing (We strongly recommend the steak medallions!) and the wine recommendation was spot-on. In all, it was simply a great experience..."

  • "Excellent food and service...still our favorite place for a great meal and dining experience in Omaha. And for those of you that know us and the restaurant options in this city, this is high praise indeed. You simply will not find anything better."

  • "The restaraunt itself is fun to sit in due to the view out of the windows. The food was delicious and everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed what they ordered. Would recommend this restaurant highly."

  • "Food is first rate with elegant service served by the family that owns and treasures the restaurant. Wine list is superb and the food is elegantly midwestern. The beef is outstanding. The setting is a balance of quiet, fun and sophisticated."

  • "We dined at the Flatiron Cafe recently on an early Saturday evening during a pleasant snowfall. As our table was near a window, we felt as if we were dining in a snow globe--how fun!. The food was perfectly prepared, the service impeccable. Our server was attentive to every request, and we were able to enjoy a special meal in a relaxed, not-rushed, picturesque environment, Bravo to the chefs, staff, and proprietress and her family at the Flatiron Cafe!"

  • "The staff was absolutely amazing. Loved the service, attentive but not annoying. Chilean Sea Bass was wonderful, my husband had chicken, he wasn't as thriledl with it as I was the Sea Bass, but it was still very good."

  • "They always seem sincerely pleased that we chose to eat there. The wait staff know the dishes and pay good attention without being intrusive. Then the food.... I am not much of a carnivore but the beef tournedos are irresistable! My partner enjoys their seafood and we both savor the crunchy french bread."

  • "Everything about our experience with the Flatiron was excellent, but the quality of service provided by our server and the support staff was top notch. Finer dining establishments can sometimes give stilted, uppity service. Not so at the Flatiron. Our server approached the menu conversationally and answered our questions in a friendly, upbeat way. He was always available for our needs but never overbearing, and he gave some wonderful recommendations for drinks and dinner. If I had to cite a negative aspect, and it's not much, but the price for a whiskey sour seemed a bit steep. We would happily return and will recommend friends as well."

  • "The owner and wait staff made our anniversary something to remember. The food was great, and the atmosphere was exactly as we envisioned. Our server was not as knowledgeable about the menu as we would have hoped, but she was kind and attentive."

  • "Recently dined during the last big snow storm. It's a testament to the food and service that there was a pretty good crowd even with the strom. Our guest and I both had the fish special and it was great. Service was outstanding. It is a must dine spot in Omaha hands down."

  • "I've been to this restaurant a number of times over a number of years. It HAS been a while since last I was there. The food seemed overly seasoned compared to my last visit, and did not seem like it was presented directly after preparation. For the price, it was not the best value, compared to prior visits where my guests have reported that it was one of the top meals they've had in Omaha. The service is great and my guests were happy with the atmosphere and ambiance."

  • "We were in town for the weekend from Chicago. Our evening at Flatiron was delightful. We loved the intimate and unique design of the dining room. Our server Allison was a joy -- very sweet, very happy, knowledgeable (brought my wife a great Merlot that wasn't on the menu). The food was excellent and the course timing was perfect -- nice and slow just like we asked for. My only criticism is that there were a number of changes to the printed menu, so if you have your heart set on something you see on the website menu, you might want to double-check they still have it before you arrive."

  • "The Flatiron has always been our go-to place for very special occasions or a night at the Orpheum. At our most recent visit, the service was impeccable and the ambience excellent. However, the food wasn't up to the extremely high standard as we had come to expect. The soups and entrees were over-salted which distracted from the perfect preparation of the fish and beef.. The salads were fresh but the house dressing lacked flavor. Deserts were outstanding although the tea selection was anemic and the water flat. I would say that the Flatiron is still an excellent place to dine, but for $200 a couple, I expect better."

  • "We were excited for our first Flatiron Cafe dining experience and they exceeded our expectation in every way - fantastic meal, great service and a comfortable, holiday decorated atmosphere. My wife and I treated my mom and dad to dinner there for our Christmas gift to them. All were pleased, including my vegetarian wife who really enjoyed the vegetarian appetizer and main entree."

  • "The Flatiron Cafe has outstanding meals and an impressive wine list. When my husband and I were first seated, we were sitting across from one another. I felt like we had to speak very loud to be heard. Then we were moved to an open table that had seating where we could sit right next to one another. This was much better for visiting. Other than that, I enjoyed eating here. It was a memorable meal."

  • "Food good--not outstanding. Service a tad below accustomed; too frenetic a pace all around--not a leisurely, pleasant, memorable meal."

  • "My wife and I celebrated our 46th wedding anniversary at the Flat Iron Cafe. This is really a misnomer. It is so much more than a Cafe. The wine list is great with selections from around $25.00 to $200.00 per bottle, but they have half bottles for a reasonable price and by the glass as well. The menu is diverse. My wife had the special of the day a land and sea plate. Very nice. I had the Sea Bass. A wonderful flavor myriad. An oriental fusion of sauteed vegetables and a flavor filled piece of fish. And the service!!!! What a great job the serving staff did. Not too intrusive, but attentive. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a very nice place for a celebration a romantic dinner, or just a nice finish to a good day."

  • "The menu is most impressive and we were all very pleased with our selections. The service was perfection and also friendly. The location is fascinating -- an amazing old flatiron shaped building with large windows. It is certainly one of the classiest restaurants in Omaha, and we will certainly return."

  • "The Flatiron is the perfect dinning spot before an Orpheum performance. We have been going there for years and have been very happy. It is very popular on show nights, therefore I would not book a reservation after 6PM if you plan on attending the show. If you are not attending a show an 8PM reservation would be perfect. We also frequent it for special occasions and have not been disappointed."

  • "I have already been proclaiming Flatiron Cafe as one of Omaha's loveliest dinner spots since our fantastic night there! We had a delicious dinner, beautiful wines, and the service was impeccable. Thank you, Flatiron, for putting the exclamation point on our first year of marriage!"
