A word from The Fish Market
Serving the freshest and finest seafood in San Diego. Our harbor side restaurant located on San Diego bay offers multiple dining venues and amazing views. We have outside patio dining, outside cocktail area, enclosed patio dining and banquet facilities. We also have an Oyster Bar, full service bar and a Sushi Bar. We even have a retail market for fresh fish and all of our menu items are available for take out. We print our menus twice daily so that we may offer only the best. Mesquite charbroiled seafood, pastas, salads, specialties, clams & oysters, crab cakes, sushi and much more. You must try our famous Dungeness Crab Cioppino and signature Smoked Fish Sampler. Start your meal off with our exceptional sourdough bread and plan to finish your meal with a slice of house made key lime pie, creme brulee, or chocolate indulgence.   • "We arrived at 3:45 and hoped to get an item off the dinner menu. We asked if we could wait, and the waitress said it would be no problem and we could order off the dinner menu now. That's amazing service you won't find in other restaurants. The shift changed and we got a new waiter who never missed a beat. The waiter kept the drinks coming and never seemed bothered to get extra bread or additional plates. Wonderful experience overall."

  • "The service was pretty good, as was the food. I was in the mood for a Louie salad, and it definitely satisfied my craving. The salad was large, the shrimp and crab were plentiful and fresh tasting. The dressing was served on the side without me having to ask. Parking is a problem if you don't valet. The spaces in the lot are extremely narrow and hard to maneuver into."

  • "A friend recommended The Fish Market for excellent sea food. Coming from San Antonio, Texas, people think sea food is at Red Lobster (NOT!!!). I made recommendations, but as it turned out they really were not needed. I could tell there were a lot of tourists as well as locals. The food was very very good and I would definitely recommend it. They have wonderful outdoor seating as well as indoor seating with an excellent view of the water. The service was top notch. We were pleasantly surprised."

  • "The Fish Market consistently gives both great food and views. With pricing the same as other Fish Markets, you are getting the great San Diego harbor views for no premium. Even with the large restaurant size they somehow make every table feel special. They ran out of French Fries but substituted any side as a replacement."

  • "I usually eat at the Fish Market when in San Diego and went there again. I thought the food was really only average although my companion's deep fried scallops were excellent. My mahi mahi was good but the sides were lackluster. The companion's sides were also blah - fries and cole slaw with nothing to really say about them. We had creme brulee for dessert; the strawberry it was topped with was good but the creme brulee itself was average. And their coffee isn't any good - I expected at least colombian but it wasn't and it was bitter. So, can't say I was impressed. Guess I'll go elsewhere next time."

Bagged it up to take home. We did not make it very far out the front door before a man walked up and said he was hungry. Asked if we had some food. How can you say no to a guy asking for food? The homeless around here eat very well."

Later as we were eating our main courses, it got pretty noisy and crowded, as we know it can be. Crab cakes, calamari, mahi mahi, chipotle prawns, lobster were all delicious. The hot bread was a nice addition and the Key Lime pie a great finish. What a nice menu for Restaurant Week!"

  • "Had a late dinner with the family here, and they placed us on the outside deck that was covered up. It was literally on the water, which is great, but because it was night time we didn't get a lot of benefit from it. The outside area chairs were unfortunately plastic, with the table typical for an outside patio, but again plastic mostly. It felt very unsophisticated. Just for this I would have rather dined inside. Service was outstanding - we had a # of bad services in recent places. We have a toddler which requires a lot of attention, and we were able to get that from our waitress. Kudos to her."

  • "I was hesitant to go to the place as I usually seek out the best possible area seafood restaurants. This place is in a tourist area of the city so I was thinking we'd be disappointed . We all found the fish to be fresh and very well prepared. We all had our fish simply grilled. I had the swordfish grilled medium with the steamed veggies and coleslaw. Everything was excellent, everyone agreed and so we came back again the next night and had the same meal again!!"

  • "Enjoyed a baked crab. (Warning, the buttery sauce was peppery. I had to request melted garlic butter on the side, which they provided but it took quite a while to get and came in a very small dipping container. If you do not like spicy, I recommend you order the garlic butter while placing the dinner order and ask for extra since the serving was very small.) I had ordered the half crab, but when the order arrived it was a whole crab. I explained the problem and they honored the price for a half order without any problem. Loved the view, especially the sunset!"

My son had a Craft beer which he really liked and said was hard to find in other restaurants. Crab appetizer was really good, remaining items were good. Very noisy so conversation difficult, but again it was busy."

  • "I've been to the Fish Market three times now, and this was by far the busiest night I've gone. We had a group of 6, so reservations on a Saturday night were a must. The server was friendly and our spot by the back deck was nice. We were in an indoor-outdoor seating area, so the space heaters were great to have. The view of the bay is spectacular at night. My only complaint would be the crowded feel of the restaurant, and the noise level inside. The cioppino is excellent (seafood soup), as were the spicy tuna rolls for an appetizer. I highly recommend the Negra Modelo for a good beer to pair with the richness of the chowders and soups."

Server was very good, explained menu selections and specials well, timely service. Food was very good, well prepared, tasty, nice portions. Too full for desert. Waterfront view a plus, added that little extra to our dining experience. Definitely will be back next time visiting San Diego."
