  • "We were seated in the back room with two large parties and a screaming child. Our waitress was not friendly and only came by twice after we ordered. We ordered dinner and our salad came right away. Then 2 minutes later, our entrees came. We told the runner that we just got our salads and he continued to just set the entrees down. Our waitress finally came by and did offer to take the entrees back until we finished. We asked for bread and it came in a paper bag with a foil wrapped butter pad. The bread was cold and hard and the butter was mushy. He table seated next to us asked for extra bread and they told her it was an additional charge! We gave her our extra bread and butter. The waitress came back once more and was still very grumpy."

  • "Everything was a very nice mix of great and fantastic. As a vegetarian I would frequent there. Grandma had a great birthday dinner and a coffee mug for momento and present. Grandma also had the best burger in eons! Not many places have vinegar for fries too. Thank you for a great feast!"

  • "Did not feel that there was a lot of variety to the menu. Was very over priced for the amount of food you received. Chicken for $23.00 with French Fries. Steak salad $17.00 with mixed greens, some pieces of steak, 4 croutons and some feta cheese. The salad was served in a wooden bowl and everything was mixed together so couldn't really tell how much meat there was, not a good presentation. We wouldn't go back to this restaurant."

  • "We went back to Empire to celebrate our first date 3 years ago. The food was fabulous, the service was perfect. We had the lamb and duck, both of which were excellent along with oysters as an appetizer. Their small plates/appetizers are perfect for sharing if you went for happy hour."

  • "Thank you, Empire! On my last visit the waitstaff didn't tell me all the dinner specials as soon as I had sat down and before I had even ordered a drink. Much appreciated! Now, the next thing that you can do is to give more than 1 drink menu at a table. When 2-4 (or more!) people sit down and there's only 1 drink menu, the first person starts looking,,,the rest of us wait...at some point the 2nd person gets to look...inevitably at this point, the waiter comes back to take drink orders. People 1-2 may be ready, but the rest of the table hasn't even looked yet and has to either hurry up and choose or ask the waiter to come back, prolonging the whole experience. If you just put 2 or 3 drink menus on the table, the process will be smoother."

  • "My husband and I tried the Empire Lounge out, due to a recent mention in Sunset magazine. We were not disappointed. It is a cute place, the service was good, the food was tasty. They had plenty of gluten-free options, which appealed to us. The major frustration we had was that the bartender kept throwing empty bottles into the trash can with a crash! bash! clang! sound which made us think he used to work in a dive bar. It was completely off-putting to a romantic dinner. We told our waitress this, but she did nothing to rectify the situation. We also told the hostess on the way out, but we could tell she was not going to do anything about it."

  • "The food was great, I had the pork chop and my friend had the duck. I especially liked that they served the pork chop medium rare, most places tend to way overcook pork and make it dry. I sure you can get it overcooked if you like it that way. The only issue is we were seated by a large group and they were loud, so it made it a little hard for an old guy like me to hear our conversation with all the background noise. This was my first time to visit and I will be back."

  • "I had to make last minute Valentine reservations, so we were able to get a reservations at this highly-rated restaurant (very deservably so!) at 4:45PM. It was Valentine's day I realized that restaurants are extremely busy & rushed..but were greeted by a not so very friendly host (at this time of the day, I would think that he wasn't tired?) who setted us at the back of the restaurant even though most of the tables & booths were empty. However, despite this, that was the ONLY disappointing thing about our otherwise EXCEPTIONAL dinner! Everything was over-the-top Fantastic! I had the pork chops and every bite was a bit of heaven! I will go back again & bring guests, but next time I will make reservations way ahead of time."

  • "I always enjoy the food. It's well priced and the servers are attentive. Note to the waitstaff - you're almost there. Please, please, don't read me all of your specials as soon as I've just sat down and am reading the drink list. I want to choose a drink first...I am not ready to hear about the dinner specials! Wait until we start looking at the dinner menu. And a note to the bartender - your martinis are good, but please strain the ice chips out of them before serving. I don't recall that I'm supposed to chew ice chips while sipping a martini."

  • "The food is great and the atmosphere is very welcome on a cold winter's evening. They almost have it there with the service...a note: if I'm just sitting down and say that I want a few minutes to look over the drink menu and I'm clearly not in a hurry, don't rattle off the dinner specials. I'm not listening, I just sat down, and I haven't even ordered a drink yet. Wait."

  • "The food at Empire is excellent. The pork chops were delicious, but needed steak knives to cut - none were offered. The brussels sprout salad is a nice unique option. Deviled eggs and bacon wrapped dates were perfect shared appetizers. Very good steak salad. When I ordered a mule cocktail, I was told they needed to hold a photo ID as security for the copper mug - really? - I was not comfortable releasing my Driver's License to the staff - which left a bad taste in my mouth. I selected a Rye Manhattan instead - three of us ordered this and loved them - the bartender is very skilled. The beignets for dessert were heavy - more like donut holes and lacked the light fluffy texture a good beignet needs, but marscapone ice cream saved it!"

  • "5 of us spent NYE together. We had a great time at the restaurant until we were asked to wrap it up and leave because they had people coming (not there, they were "coming"). After spending $300 and already paying the bill, it was pretty insulting as we had just had minutes before received our last round of drinks. We understand it was New Years but there were 2 tables open down from us and since there was no one waiting, why did you have to ruin the experience that started so well by asking us to hurry along? The food was mediocre but could have been worth another try, but since it left a bad taste in our mouth after spending so much, we will give it to someone who appreciates income and provides great service. Zucca, here we come!"

  • "We went on Christmas Eve a Tuesday. The place was almost full and had groups, couples, and families. The food was excellent and an excellent value. The place is very interesting. Bread is homemade and great. Oysters were excellent including the vinegar dip. Although they have salads, they are really large enough for lunch, not really a salad as a side unless shared by 4. The Crispy Calamari salad was very different, but way too much for two people as a side. The sides are also huge, we had the roasted squash, grilled broccoli, and homemade fries, all of which were some of the best any of us ever had. Excellent homemade meatballs, grilled skirt steak ,and the mussels were wonderful. My only complaint was the food came too fast."

  • "The Empire is one of my go-to places when I want a really good meal in a great environment. The calamari salad is terrific - order them with a side of fries (the best I've had in the metro area by far) and your taste buds will be very happy!! The meatballs are so light and tasty that it's worth ordering one as a side dish to share!! Good service from always happy waitstaff."

  • "Our first visit - the ambiance was great, the menu innovative and widely varied and all well prepared and presented. The bacon-wrapped dates and deviled eggs were just the right start to a late night dinner. The Brussels Sprouts salad was a delight, the Empire grilled cheese was perfect and the shrimp and grits were delicious. Cocktails were great ( pins& needles) and the wine suggested by the server was just right. We will return!"

  • "I love going to the Empire! Their food is excellent. It is fresh and often local and thoughtful. I have never had anything bad there. The food is fantastic and interesting without being pretentious. My 11 yo daughter loves to go. My husband and I enjoy the bar and wine selection. The bartender there is truly one of the best.The service is variable - sometimes perfect and once and a while just ok. It is our go to spot. We go just cause we cant figure out dinner or for a special occasion. I take people there for proffesional dinners and interviews."

  • "The Empire is a must is must if you love food prepared to bring out the best in it's natural flavors. We love going for a great dining experience( just went for our one year wedding anniversary this past week and frequent multiple times throughout the year). Reservations are suggested. It has a vibrant atmosphere but at the same time when at your table, you are able to fully immerse yourself in the conversation of your companions. We haven't had one thing on the menu that we haven't enjoyed and the cocktails are delish(+ there is always a few local beers on tap). Must tries are the calamari along with the duck enchiladas. The pork chop is also always great. Don't forget to save room for desert! The lemon tart is out of this world."

Currently I always figure I'll have a bad day after eating out but I'm very pleased to say that the chef at Empire Lounge took excellent care with my food. I had a very tasty dinner--as did my non food-challenged companions. And no belly ache the next day. Kudos and many thanks! Service was excellent as well."
