  • "Good food, great service in a charming setting. The Copper Door is our go-to place for a nice evening out."

  • ""I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. Tuna is my favorite entree --- it is always expertly prepared, nice and rare, never overcooked of tough. Their Crab Cake is loaded with crab -- better than crab cakes at Rehoboth Beach, an East Coast resort town known for their excellent restaurants. My husband loves their pot roast and meatloaf entrees = perfect meals for comfort food lovers. Clara said her seafood pasta dish was divine. I have never been disappointed with seafood at this restaurant. Eating at the Copper Door is a lot like eating at Ocean Air in Atlanta. The food quality and the service are identical, but the prices are much more affordable at the Copper Door!"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The quality of service and food was beyond our expectations. We will definitely dine at the Copper Door when we are in town again."

  • "We had a wonderful meal at The Copper Door! My Scallops Casino was excellent as was my husband's Fruits de Mer! I have only one complaint as the shrimp in my husband's dish was a tad overcooked! Our waitress Amber was a gem and made our meal that much more enjoyable!"

  • "Wait staff a bit off their usual level of service. Had to remind them of outstand service items a couple of times."

  • "Dennis Barber and his staff are extremely competent, gracious, and attentive. We are a resort area with several very good restaurants, and I think the Copper Door is the best of them all. The quality of the food, including preparation and presentation, is consistently high, from humble delicious meatloaf to gluten free chocolate torte, perfectly prepared lamb or pop overs. No bad nights or doubtful dishes. A really good year round place where you can count on an excellent meal."

  • "We had a friend visiting from Florida and wanted her birthday dinner to be special so we booked reservations at the Copper Door. She and we loved the meal and the environment. We have dined here twice before and loved it."

  • "Great food and service !! Greeter was friendly, good table.. service was excellent and food to die for !! The Copper Door is a "Buckhead quality" restaurant located in a small town... a rare find in such a lovely town. We dined on grouper, steak, smoked salmon and it was all excellent ! One of the few memorable restaurants that I always find delightful."

  • "Two couples came to have a special anniversary dinner - what a wonderful treat! The setting is lovely old world, English Pub décor with a large stone fireplace. The waitstaff was impeccably dressed and skilled in their duties. The food was wonderful, presentation beautiful and portions generous. Our waiter, Andrew, was super! It was so great to NOT have children during our dining experience - this is an adult atmosphere and should be respected as such! Worth the trip from anywhere - we were staying in Hiawassee GA, having traveled from FL and IN."

  • "We decided to have our 50th Anniversary Dinner at The Copper Door. What a good choice we made! The food was so delicious and our server, Toni was attentive but not hovering. She brought each course at the perfect time. If you are looking for exceptional food served in an attractive environment, I would recommend The Copper Door."

  • "Second time at The Copper Door was even better than the first! Impeccable service, food is cooked with passion and to perfection, and I could not think of a better place in Hayesville, NC to go to celebrate or to have a nice quiet evening with someone special. Truly an incredible establishment that deserves to be recognized."

  • "Our experience was great! The food was excellent and prepared to perfection. Our server was spot on! We had reservations and had no wait when we arrived. It was one of those dining experiences where everything just went perfect. No complaints what-so-ever."

  • "Great atmosphere, food, and drinks. My martini was perfect and my wife liked her serving of the house cabernet. The food was great - as always. My only criticism, which I've NEVER experienced before at this restaurant, was the service. The waitress tried as hard as she could to rush us through the meal."

  • "In the future I will assume I will sit at a table even with reservations. Therefore, I may wait until day of dining. If I can get reservations I may go. If not I will go somewhere else. If you want me to dine happy in future tell me how many days or weeks in advance I need to make reservations to get a booth. I have eaten at Copper Door about once every two months. Good food and good service but I want a booth. I give 20% or more for good service and never gave less than that in past at Copper Door. I gave about 11% Saturday because no booth."

  • "I took my wife here for our anniversary. I called in advance and The Copper Door staff really put on an amazing experience for us. Flowers, customized menus, etc. the food was unreal. The bill was high, however we got all the bells and whistles.... Champagne, appetizers, entree, desert, the works!"

  • "Excellent food in a beautiful building. I've been there twice, the first time was a lot quieter but the last time was loud. I think it has to do with the size of the restaurant and the energy of the guests. But after those few loud tables left we were able to enjoy a quiet, romantic, delicious meal and dessert. The food and drinks are always wonderful!"

  • "My husband said that the crab cakes he had for an appetizer were the best he had in a very long time and the rest of party really enjoyed all of their meal right down to some fantastic desserts. Our waiter never seemed to hover, but yet he was right there when we needed him. We were not rushed and were allowed to DINE. We will definitely be returning the next time we are up in this area."

  • "Sorry but both meals were underseasoned and rather bland, lamb was too tough to chew and two of the chops were not split, others were very uneven and sloppy cut. If you only offer 4 lamb chops on a rack they should be perfect. The bread pudding was the standout of the night. "

  • "We loved this restaurant! Second visit for us and we can't wait to return. My hubs even said he'd drive from Atlanta just to have dinner here! LOL"

  • "The Copper Door is fine dining done right! It has been a long time since I left a restaurant with the feeling that the experience was exceptional. Andrew was our waiter who was above and beyond a great server. He was knowledgeable about the wine list and had no trouble answering questions about food choices. I was most impressed by Andrew's timing in that he did not rush to take the order to soon allowing us time to enjoy our drinks and appetizer before taking our entree order. The menu was great and the food was exceptionally good. It was apparent that Andrew admired and had great confidence in the chef. We look forward to dining at the Copper Door again. Thank you!"

  • "Finest quality restaurant in Mountains. Food is unbelievable. Service is outstanding. A great find."

  • "Our family loves this place. It's not the cheapest but its definitely the most upscale restaurant in the area. I would guess you would have to travel to Highlands, NC to find anything that compares. We have brought our kids (5,7,9) before but we typically eat at 5 pm. Everything I have ordered has been superb and the rolls they serve are divine. Highly recommend for anyone seeking to satisfy a sophisticated appetite."

  • "My friend and I dined at the Copper Door early one Saturday evening. By the time we left all the tables were full. The menu had good variety. I had the "bronzed" salmon at the suggestion of the server. The seasoning on my salmon was great, not too blackened which I'm not a fan of. My friend had the pot roast which was tasty and tender. We also had a salad and for dessert, bananas foster! What a nice treat. We live in Atlanta and had been to the Copper Door previously. Because it was so good the last time we dined, we came through Hayesville on our way home from Asheville (sort of out of the way, but well worth it). Too bad there's not a Copper Door in Atlanta."

  • "We recently visited the Hayesville area for a vacation near the lakes and best roads in the region. The Crane Creek Vineyards recommended a visit to The Copper Door for our anniversary dinner. We weren't disappointed. Tucked away off the city square, the restaurant was brimming with activity on our visit. Once we were escorted to our table, we were delighted by the wood interior and quiet surroundings. The drinks and food were excellent as was the service. The duck entree was fabulous and not what you'd expect to find in the area. We finished our special meal with a banana foster prepared table side. Lovely evening at a lovely restaurant. "

  • "Being from NJ, I was a bit skeptical of finding a good restaurant in the area. Boy was I wrong. This would make 4 stars anywhere - Manhattan, Northern New Jersey. Not only was the food well prepared and good, but the service (for a group of 7 hungry people) was exceptional. I will never denigrate that GA, NC, TN corner again. Wineries, scenery, good restaurants, grist mills, everything was wonderful."

  • "The Copper Door has no peer in a very wide area from where it is nestled in southwestern North Carolina. The food, service and ambience, not to mention the wine list, is extraordinary. A true gem for all of us in the area."

  • "This was our second dinner at The Copper Door and there will be many more in the future. We took houseguests from Atlanta who raved about the food and exceptional service. We are in this area several times a year and will certainly visit The Copper Door again. Our server, David, was wonderful! Thank you for a great evening."

  • "Excellent dinner with well prepared food ~ the escargots and crawfish crepe were outstanding and so was the swordfish entree. Service was very efficient and discrete! The best restaurant within 100 miles I have found in the tri-state area. We drive from Blue Ridge and it is well worth the one hour drive! No surprises, always consistent! "

  • "The service was very good. The mussels where not, the lack of bread was disappointing but the rack of lamb was excellent, I would not mind to go back and try something else, the menu is interesting enough and the wine list is good, overall was a pleasant experience."
