She took the time to read the note I made on our reservation that it was our anniversary so that when we walked in she wished us happy anniversary. It was a classy touch and demonstrated her commitment to making a difference for her customers. She even provided a complimentary anniversary dessert. The arctic char was delicious. The wine list is solid. We will definitely be back."

  • "I recently went to the Chase Fish & Oyster for my anniversary dinner, and it was the perfect spot. I had no idea what to expect other than hearing that the food was amazing. It did not disappoint. We started with their tuna nachos, which were a perfect share able appetizer. The raw tuna was amazing. The server, Kristen, recommended a fantastic bottle of white for our meal. Probably the best white I've ever had. I had the Atlantic Char, on perfectly roasted cauliflower with a deliciously buttery puree. The fish was fantastic and was complimented very well by the crunchy-ness of the quinoa. A great dish all around. The dessert was a key-lime cake, and was the perfect end to the meal. Will definitely be coming back!"

  • "Quaint. My husband and I rarely get a chance to go out for a night of entertainment with two boys in hockey and other extra-curricular activities. The Chase was a real find! It was quiet and relaxing and the service was great. We ate oysters, cold and raw appetizers and a main dish, and a piece of key lime, vanilla cake all in about 11/2. We took a short walk down to the A.C.C. to watch the Leafs win in overtime against the Boston Bruins. It was a good night for us and for Leaf fans."

  • "We had their raw oysters (a variety based on their recommendation), steamed mussels, scallop with foie gras, Arctic char, shoestring fries and for dessert the lime meringue cake. They were all very well made with nice presentation. We shared everything and were stuffed by the end of the night. Great environment inside and out. Price is towards the steep end but not unreasonable for the quality of food. Definitely would go back for another special occasion."

  • "Expectations were too high. Waiter had no real suggestion for wine choice after meal choices had been made except the less expensive wine was very popular. Soup was too salty to appreciate wealth of flavours that should have been there. Main course was good but top of the line fish products reasonably well prepared should be! Desert was beautifully presented but difficult to find the flavour described in the menu. May have been a bad day but the hype from the food critics difficult to imagine."

  • "We went to Chase on a double date on a Saturday night. The dinner was delicious! The mains outshone the appetizers - I had the whole fish special and it was a perfect sea bream. Other items we had at the table were the burger, shoestring fries, and the arctic char- all were amazing! . The only complaint we had was the music was too loud that it was really hard to hear each other and we had to talk really loud."

  • "Some items were delicious, such as the lobster "Waldorf" roll. But at $21, the price seemed very high for a small appetizer item. The raw yellowtail with Meyer lemon was also very good, although the pickled onions were a bit overpowering in a subtle dish. Anything deep fried turned out very oily, which marred the oyster po' boy and the fried chicken. The winter chowder was a great idea - squash soup with fresh seafood in it - but was a bit salty (otherwise well flavoured). The desserts were very good, particularly the key lime cake with roasted marshmallow."

  • "Had a very nice dinner here for a birthday. The service was good. Not the best, but it was definitely satisfactory. The food was very tasty. The restaurant is expensive, but overall, I think the prices of the food was worth it. The alcohol was ridiculously overpriced in my opinion, no need to charge 16+ for a cocktail, and the wines and bubbles were also very overpriced. But I know that is how restaurants make the bulk of their money, so what can you do! All in all, the food and ambiance was great, will definitely be back!"

  • "This is my second time visiting the Chase. The restaurant and the food is excellent as can be seen by how difficult it is to get a table. We had a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night. We ordered a nice bottle of wine and ordered a starter with a main course. Unfortunately the service was very rushed with the food being brought out like it was a fast food restaurant. Our wine was constantly topped. Although we all desire good service, the pace left the feeling we were being rushed to make room for the next table. After declining desert our bill was brought to the table without the thought that we may want another drink or relax. This is not the experience we were looking for from such a top notch restaurant. ."

  • "We arrived to cheerful, informed staff who sat us immediately. They saw our discomfort at sitting in such close proximity to the people next to us, and promptly offered us another table. The food was all excellent and so was the cocktail. Upon leaving, the staff encouraged us to visit the upper floor restaurant and showed us the dinner menu for another time. That's what I call a well trained staff! We will definitely return soon."

  • "Third time coming to this restaurant and was a disappointed in some of the plates, and the corner table we were stuffed into. One of the oysters we had was not cleaned properly, and had grey-green sludge & sand in it. Though the rest of the plates we had were delicious, the portion sizes were laughable. The lobster roll which was described as a good item to share was barely two bites - really did look like a practical joke. The decor and atmosphere are great, unfortunately, the corner table we had was squeezed between two tables so much so that you are rubbing backs with two other patrons. The wait staff had a very awkward time passing us the food and spilled one of the dishes down into my uncle's jacket pocket."

  • "I chose the Chase Fish and Oyster based on it being in the top ten new restaurants in Toronto by the Globe and Mail and it's proximity to out of town guests. The attention at arrival was great-helpful and friendly. Our ground floor restaurant is a great space-lots of windows, lots of room and comfortable seating. Although light fixtures stylish in this high ceiling room, direct lighting lacked in enabling us to see and enjoy the shared dishes. Service was good and they worked as a team. So why disappointed? We had a difficult time seeing the food and the fish and crustacean dishes were bland. We tried 10 of them and I cannot remember one being outstanding. That said, will try again in the spring and in daylight."

Went with another couple and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves with great food, terrific wine, and engaging service. Staff was friendly and responsive without being in-your-face. Food was on the pricey side, but when the overall experience is as good as it was, I don't have a problem paying for a great night out! Would definitely go there again."

  • "I recently went to The Chase Fish & Oyster for dinner with friends. The seafood offerings are incredible. One of the party is from PEI and he thought the Colville Bay Oysters were amazing! And the BC mussels - the biggest and plumpest you can imagine. Every dish was imaginative, flavourful and plenty to share between four people. I plan to go back soon! My only complaint is that is it quite noisy. Love the bar area. I also had lunch in The Chase upstairs. I raved about the restaurant after that. I seriously think you will have to go far to find a better restaurant in Toronto! The service is the best I have had in the city!"

  • "I went to the chase a day after my wedding with my new husband. Everything was perfect. The food, service and everything right down to the level of enthusiasm of the staff because we were newly weds. The selection of oysters is impressive and the seafood dishes were paired with all sorts of yummy unique sides and sauces. A favourite was the scallop, brioche, foie gras dish as well as the lobster roll waldorf style. The aioli with the fries was also to die for! I has the chocolate sundae for dessert and it was the most delicious, decadent dish i have probably ever had. Great if you are a chocolate lover! Best to share, its huge! Thanks so much for an amazing dining experience!"
