A word from The Chase
The Chase is our passion for Casual Elegance. Our rooftop restaurant highlights what we love most about upscale dining, and presents it in a modest, welcoming and thoughtful way. Our ongoing chase for the finest ingredients from around the world coupled with simple and uncomplicated flavors is the foundation for our culinary philosophy. Using refined techniques from Italian and French cuisines we formed a menu that can be best described as Contemporary North American. It celebrates the beauty of simplicity and keep you craving more. The service is detailed and technical, but as comfortable as being at home. The room is sophisticated, but refreshingly approachable and unpretentious.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The chase is more sceney than foodie. The dishes were run of the mill and a few were served cold with nothing offered for free. The wine was not the vintage that was offered in the menu (vintage year mismatch). The service was grating. I would not go back. I especially will not miss the woman near the bathroom who said "f*** you" when I was able to go into the men's room without waiting while she continued to wait for the female. Overall classless. "

  • "Arrived for a 9PM reservation. Waited at the bar with friends for drinks. Waited and waited and waited. We weren't seated till 10:30! At this point, you're probably asking why I'm rating this so highly. Well the answer is Customer Service. They made sure we were OK by constantly informing us of the status of our table, providing us some canapes and comp'ing us on our drinks. When we were finally seated, a manager again apologized for the hour and a half delay. Ultimately, The food was OUTSTANDING but the tour de force was the great service!"

  • "Excellent food, excellent service, just not sure if the price justifies the experience."

  • "Server need to be more careful. We told the server one ofthe gguest is allergic to lobster and we make sure the soup doesn't have lobster. However, when soup arrive, lobster is in..... When we told the server she was like " o really, are u alight? " ... guest is kind is kind enough don't ask for a refund. "

  • "Every meal I have at The Chase is better than the last.. From the seafood platter to the beef everything on this menu is a home run. You know this is now the hot restaurant in the city when the last time I had dinner there 2 of the top chef's in Toronto were having dinner. That should be all the endorsement you need to give The Chase a try."

  • "My husband and I tried out The Chase after a colleague recommended it to me. I was looking for an upscale "fancy" restaurant to celebrate my 30th birthday just the two of us. It was definitely more than we expected and we thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience starting from the valet parking to the smiling and friendly faces when you walk in. Our server was very well informed with everything on the menu and was super friendly, never rushing us. Food and drink choices were amazing and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this to anyone willing to spend good money on excellent service and meals. We would love to go back again to celebrate another occasion and of course to try out some other menu choices."

  • "Very nice trendy place. Great decor. The food was very good except for a couple of disappointments:I ordered the lamb and it was not very tender and my husband ordered the veal and it was not very tender either. A restaurant of that calibre should serve meat that melts in your mouth. The duck confit and all other food ordered was amazing. ."

  • "Beautiful restaurant, delicious food, but the service was slow & they up-sold us & we ended up with way too much food. Went for a late dinner (8:30), with a party of 8, & we didn't get our entrees until 10:30. When we placed our order the server told us we weren't ordering enough & doubled some of the appetizers for sharing. Plus he suggested adding veggies to share with the entrees - multiples of everything. It was way too much food, especially at 10:30 at night. If they brought the drinks & courses out more quickly (there seemed to be no shortage of staff), & didn't pressure us to order more food at every chance they got, we would have been happier. I would go back, but would order less."

  • "Very nice venue and definitely the place to be. Food is good but too complicated and not particularly good but of excellent quality. Not a problem if you have an expense account. Not worth it if it's out of your own pocket, but great place to be seen. Excellent service."

  • "Elegant New York feel with good food and service. Tries to be a little too trendy which makes it less likely that it will stand the test of time. Needs a major upgrade to the wine list and a BYO licence."

  • "It would have been a better experience if we did not have to wait 20 mins for our reserved table. We were told we could wait at the bar where they were serving free appetizers. Couldn't get close enough to the bar to even order a drink and never saw any appetizers. Once we were seated the rest of the evening was fine."

  • "Never been disappointed with my meal. The only thing better than the food is the staff. Friendliest staff in all of Toronto."

  • "It was an amazing evening. The food, service was excellent. The wine choices were limited and pricey. We had 2009 Rioja which was recommended by our server and it was excellent."

  • "Despite the great view and decor, the food was very salty. We had a group of 4 so we ordered pretty much every dish on the menu to try. All of them had great ingredients but tasted very salty. The wine is nice but I don't think I will go back"

  • "This restaurant is the bright spot in downtown Toronto. Can only take so much of the same O&B in a single week. I have lunch with clients several times a week. I've had one dinner and one lunch at The Chase neither disappointed. Lunch was shared Buratta. Need to take the salt down a bit and the Tuna app was killer. Scallops also incredible with soft poached egg. If you don't try the The Chase you are missing an experience but you wallet better be full"

  • "My second evening at The Chase - this time with my son as a special treat. A truly beautiful room with exemplary service from all the staff. Our server, in particular, was knowledgeable and charming - the perfect server. The food lived up to the room, starting with delicious and unique cocktails. Portions are surprisingly generous for such refined feed. My only complaint might be that the room is a bit noisy, but I am admittedly very noise sensitive. Overall, a lovely evening (again)."

  • "The service is always polite, but small things seem to fall short every time - slopppy pouring of water, a too-long gap between visits by waiter. The food normally is enough to offset this, but it fell short this time, which makes the pricetag tough to swallow even if it's a corporate lunch. Not as consistent as other downtown restaurants of similar price."

  • "Everything is good; the food, wine and service all rock!! This is my current favourite downtown spot."

  • "Definitely THE BEST high-end restaurant in Toronto. I've been to several and none compare in terms of food, service and ambience. Usually, after an expensive meal I end up feeling it wasn't worth it, but in this case it was worth every penny. Every touch point was superlative and the food was absolute perfection. Well done!"

  • "This place is a standout. Love that it's a stones throw away from my office! Not a detail is ever missed here, and it feels like a hidden jem in another city. Love love love"

  • "Deliscious food. Adequate portion sizes. A must try for Foodies not on a budget. Great view/ ambience. Seafood focus but has pasta & meats as well. Would re-visiti. Will definitely try the Seafood & Oyster restaurant on main level."

  • "First visit to The chase. Attentive service, well- timed and friendly. The “petit” pearl platter appetizer was wonderful and the Halibut fish disk was very well prepared and delicious! Great dining experience. Loud and noisy at lunch time."

  • "5 star service, 5 star food. I can't wait to go back, at least once per month. It's expensive but worth every single penny."

  • "Our server David was wonderful, as were our meals. Fish main dishes truly spectacular. Wonderful decor and overall ambiance. However, the hostess' greeted us with much confusion upon our arrival which was a rough start. David and the meals made up for it. The big issue here is with a $300 meal and after paying $20 for valet plus a $10 cash tip, you wouldn't think you would be sent a $68 parking ticket a month later for using their valet services. Totally unacceptable. The valet was totally irresponsible, we had no knowledge of a ticket and quite frankly this incident really makes me reconsider ever returning."

  • "Went to Chase last week with some friends and it honestly blew us all away. None of had been there before but all had heard good things. We had 4 apps and 4 mains...all were some of the best tasting items we all had ever had. Strong recommendation for the Lobster app and the Halibut for 2."

  • "Although it was not the best meal, nor the best service I have ever experienced, it was definitely well above average in both of these regards. The service was casual but attentive and friendly and our waiter went above and beyond to give us a special occasion. The lobster appetizer was out of this world (the shrimp merely good) and my sea breem was very mce if not inspired. The other diners seemed trendy. Perhaps the best thing abut the evening was not being pushed out for a later seating. We were not rushed, which has become more and more unusual in this city. So I recommend it, and I will return."

  • "Our meal was average. We had great expectations. Our Server wasn't fully present. No one had a memorable meal. But we could have a had an off night. We heard good things about resturant prior to booking. The decor was great."

  • "My parents asked me where i wanted to go for my birthday. Without a pause I mentioned the chase for their roast chicken, and lime curd marshmallow cake (with a cute unexpected marzipan sign that said Happy Birthday). The service was impeccable. The food delicious."

  • "Best combination of fine dining and a great dining room. Yes, expense is a consideration, but if you want a great meal, difficult to beat. Service is fantastic, nothing lacking in this area. Sea urchin toast and octopus appetizers were excellent. The sea bream and sides were perfection. Dungeness crab pasta was not lacking in any way. Key lime pie was better than expected, especially the toasted coconut flakes. Wines are expensive and inexpensive selections are almost non-existent. For the downtown core, doesn't get much better. George is an equivalent restaurant, but more relaxed and sophisticated."

  • "Ended up at the Chase because of the great reviews around town. Seated at 10:45 for a 9:30 reso, at the bar from 9:30-10:45, bar service was terrible. Our group took up half the bar, but had to keep asking the bartender to refill drinks, had to do this for three rounds. Finally seated, apps were good, Tuna main was disappointing. Part of the group tried to pay for a portion of the bill, server commented out loud about the size of our bill when they wanted only to pay for a small portion, table service was entitled and dissnissive. Would go back to give it a second chance because of the rave reviews, but a disappointing first round, especially for the final tab. Staff apologetic for being seated 1:30 late, but didn't comp anything."

  • "This is a very pricy restaurant but the food was decent and the service was good. It is very busy and as a result extremely noisy. This restaurant would not be well suited for romantic dinners. Most customers looked like high end business people having meals after work."

  • "Had dinner reservations, arrived a few minutes early and was told that the table was being prepped, but to wait at the bar . 25min later, while waiting saw about 6 other couples walk in past us, afterwhich I asked about the table and you saw in her eyes that the hostess forgot about me. A manager immediately walked me to a table next to the busy bar rather than the main dining room. This left me very frustrated and no apology was made! Unfortunate as this really ruined my evening and the food was fantastic (one of the best Steak Tatar in the city). After spending $300 for dinner, I would expect a restaurant of this level to manage its service team better. Overall Food: Excellent, Service: Needs a lot of work to be competitive in Toronto"

  • "We ordered the chicken based on rave reviews. Unfortunately, it was somewhat dry and I struggled to finish it. I mentioned this when asked about our experience by a Manager. He "appreciated the feedback" but offered nothing to compensate. All the other food was good and the service was very good which made the overall experience acceptable."
