  • "We love going to the Boathouse. No matter where you are you have a great view of Swift Creek. We go during the week for happy hour, and on special occasions for a dinner on the waterfront. This time we went on a Friday when the bar was open, live music and outdoor seating. It was beautiful and romantic and perfect as always. You are always greeted with a smile, seated and approached immediately for you drinks. Aaron is an excellent waiter who makes sure you are comfortable with your order and as always the manager Seth is to be commended. This time he came to us and remembered us from our last visit, stopping by to say hello and thanks for coming back. Bravo!!!"

  • "We have now been to both Boathouse locations (Rocket's Landing and Swift Creek), and we think the Rocket's Landing location still has a better overall experience. This location still has a great porch for outdoor seating and a nice view of the reservoir. I like the fact that it's tucked away in a park as well, which helps with the overall noise level. Service was a little slow but there were no problems with our order. The food at this location was not as memorable as the Rocket's Landing location, but it was still a good meal for a Friday night. Given this, you can swallow the higher price tag if you've got a good seat on the porch, but if you're prioritizing the food over the view, you may want to look elsewhere."

  • "The meal was good. The steaks were tasty and tender. The outside view was great. Fresh oysters and steamed shrimp were very good. The music was too loud (for us and other tables close to the band set up)."

  • "This dining experience would rank high for the Richmond area. All of the staff seemed very sincere about ensuring that guests were satisfied."

  • "it's a 25 min drive from our home in the city so we go for special occassions as it's a beautiful place and wonderful food."

  • "For view and atmosphere, the Boathouse at Sunday Park can't be beat. The service is very good and the drinks menu is very imaginative and varied. The food menu is varied and caters to a wide variety of tastes. The downside to our visit was the quality of the meal. The crab puppies and wedge salad were excellent but our main course, Lobster Bake for Two, left much to be desired. The Lobster and Shrimp were overcooked and the mussels broth had not real flavor. For a restaurant of this caliber and dollar value it was disappointing that the kitchen dropped the ball."

  • "Great service & atmosphere. Party of 3. weather was perfect for outsided dining. service was pleasant, professional & friendly. Soft shell crab special was excellent, the shrimp, scallops & pasta cooked to prefection. the Shrimp & Grits was tasty but not ample. Enjoyable evenng."

  • "We sat outside with a great scenic view of Swift Creek. At first our table was in the sun, but they were kind to move us to where there was more shade. Our meal was one of the best. I loved the Crab Cakes, salad, and dessert. My wife had fried oysters, a huge salad, and dessert. The service was top notch and will no doubt be going back more often."

  • "Chose this restaurant for its nice water view as a romantic setting, but the restaurant had 2 large parties booked so we really had no seating choice with a nice view, although we did get privacy instead. Food was good, service excellent. Still, disappointing."

  • "Had a mid week happy hour with family and we enjoyed the food, the wine, and the ambience. Service was excellent as well. Our server was awesome! Very attentive."

  • "Really enjoyed brunch at The Boathouse at Sunday Park this past Sunday. We were able to get a seat outside that was mostly in the shade and there was a wonderful breeze coming off the water. Some tables will be in the sun parts of the day as the only shade comes from surrounding trees. The food was great, from the clam chowdah (NE version) to the kale salad to the fish tacos and finally the bread pudding for dessert. Only issue was the waiter was trying to cover both inside and outside tables and the service was a little slow but didn't really mind with the great view of the lake."

  • "Poor service, terrible food (buffet), entertainment was sub-par, and extremely unprofessional (band). Reservation was made for six, was seated at a table set-up for four and they added two chairs."

  • "I have eaten at The Boathouse several times and have yet to be disappointed. Good food and good atmosphere. In my view, better than the downtown location."

  • "We ate here on a Sunday evening and sat on the deck next to the lake. The food was fresh and good and the scenery was great. The sunset over the lake was spectacular. The special was sold out, but a simple substitute for the main item in the special allowed us to enjoy the meal. The waitress was helpful in arranging the change to the special with the kitchen."

  • "The food was good but nothing to write home about. The presentation was spot on. Sercice however, our waitress never came and checked on us until the end of the meal and she forgot about our 1st course. The salad came and then a few minutes later the entrees came. She missed out on a $50 bottle of white we wanted and a $15 appetizer. I am in the industry and critique every little thing. I will come back though because the view of the sunset is the best in the Richmond area"

  • "We had a group of eight. The service and food were very good. Nice place for groups to go."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "For a seafood restaurant I would have expected the crab cakes to be on point. While there was no filler there was also no flavor. The mash potatoes lacked seasoning including salt. For a $26 priced entrée I do expect the chef to understand how to properly salt mashed potatoes. The best part of the meal was the tuna appetizer and our dessert, crème brulee. The waiter was excellent though so he was not slighted for the poor food quality. Presentation was also seriously lacking in the entrée. I will not eat here again or recommend."

  • "We had a flawless experience. Outdoor sunset seating, service, food & Caribbean band made for a great anniversary night. Best overall restaurant in Chesterfield County!"

  • "Nice atmosphere....great waitress...food was very bland...we expected more taste for the price...the mixed drinks were delicious even if a bit overpriced"

  • "The food was good and the waiter really made an effort to create a fun and pleasant evening. We were having a regular evening meal with our daughter. We always enjoy sitting outside on the patio at Boathouse."

  • "A lot of hype, with nothing to show for it. Portions were somewhat tasty, but tiny. Prices are extremely high. We had gift cards, which made it slightly less painful. It's not at all worth the prices. We won't be back."

  • "We have had better service and food in prior visits. The reservation through open table should have guaranteed a place but we ended up waiting almost an hour past our reservation time despite having other parties seated while we waited. We had hoped for their featured lobster but by the time we we're seated they had run out. The service was not nearly as attentive as in past visits but once the food arrived it was nice."

  • "Went there for Father's Day, which I knew was going to be busy. When I made the reservations, I was not told that we were going to be seated outside. The waiter was ok nothing special - talked a little much to the other waiters standing where he was seen most of the time. I guess that's the reason that my food was not very warm - instead of going to check on the food - he was talking. My husband had the steak which he said was very good and I had the fried seafood - the catfish, shrimp, etc was very cool. The waiter did tell the Manager who did come to the table and offered to fix me something else and gave me a $10 card. I think I will stick with the one at Rockett Landing from now on - never had a complaint there."

  • "We had reservations for Father's Day brunch. When we arrived at 1 pm we were placed at a table in full sun where we literally were baking and sweating. I talked with the hostess about how that table was not going to work. Her response was "we can't control the sun." We were placed inside with a good view which was nice. We waited over 1 hour after ordering for our food to arrive and it was cold. The manager admitted no one should wait more than 30 mins for their meal. I noticed some people who arrived after us received their food before us. Others were waiting as long as we were and were equally frustrated. We did not have to pay for the meal but it soured our Father's Day outing."

  • "Holy cow! We visited on a bright sunny day and thought it would be perfect to sit outside. Wrong! Our table was one of many that was directly in the sun with no chance of shade. But making matters even worse was the table and chairs were made out of METAL! They radiated so much heat we could have cooked our meal on them, literally. The frustrating part is they are designed for umbrellas (hole in center and weighted base below) but no such luck. I overheard diners at several other tables complaining as well. When i mentioned it to our waiter he agreed but said it would be too expensive to outfit tables with umbrellas. Seriously though, how much would a dozen or so umbrellas cost and is it really worth the cost of third degree burns?"

  • "Father's Day/HS Graduation. Reservation site asked about stairs (2 levels). Pictures had beautiful inside, views of reservoir. Arrived & were seated OUTDOORS - IN FULL SUN. We said that we couldn't sit in the sun, and were told patio seats were where we were being seated, & nothing else available - all other (shaded) seats were being held for reservations. Not given option of sitting indoors; there were many empty inside tables! Said we were leaving, & were then seated inside. Reservation at 12:15. Daughter's side salad arrived at 1:10; remainder of food at 1:35. One hour 20 minutes wait for 3 meals is unacceptable. Manager came and spoke with us, took care of meal. Food was good, but was an extremely disappointing experience."

  • "We had a reservation that specifically noted outdoor seating for a special occasion. After waiting almost an hour past our reservation time, we were shown to an indoor table. We were eventually shown to an outdoor table but had lost our seats at the bar while we waited again. Then our waiters were abruptly changed on us. The hostess station was clearly overwhelmed on a busy evening, but a little friendliness and interest in their patrons would have gone a long way to making us overlook the errors"
