I wanted to take her to a romantic place with great food and service, and ambiance. The Boathouse totally exceeded my expectations in every way. Before our trip to Richmond I received a phone call from the restaurant to confirm our reservations and was asked if I would like to have a floral arrangement on the table for my wife as well. I did and it was beautiful. My wife noticed right away that no other table around us had flowers. SCORE! I would describe dinner at the Boathouse as going for the view and staying for dinner. At night as the sun sets the views of the skyline of downtown Richmond are spectacular. Great food, and great views of downtown overlooking the river. Happy hour from 5-7 with a wine tasting is not the time to be there though. The noise level was incredibly high, to the point where you felt like you were shouting at the person across the table. We had been to the Brandermill location several times, but this was our first visit to Rockett's Landing. Making reservations online was quick and easy and we loved the ambience and the food. Probably the best part of the dinner was our waiter (cannot remember his name), but he was friendly, funny, and very timely with anything we needed. Will definitely be back!

I always take out-of-town business associates here and it sets a positive tone for the remainder of the week. I've tried many different dishes and liked them all. This time I had shrimp and grits and it was outstanding. My associates both had the filet mignon, one rare and one medium rare, and they both pronounced the steaks perfect. Arrived on-time and we were seated without delay. Service was terrific, Tyler was very attentive and helpful. The view is great! The food was delicious, although a little pricy, and the wine list had enough to please all of us. The feeling is very energetic, a great place for a celebration. The noise level is not quiet, but it isn't detracting either. We were dining with friends we hadn't seen in over a year, so it was nice to be able to talk and not worry that we were disturbing other diners. I have seen pictures on tv from rocketts landing but we have never been there. My daughter has eaten at the Boathouse at Rocketts landing before and she enjoyed it. I requested an outdoor table and I was very pleasantly surprised by the view and the atmosphere. It was both elegant and casual and the food was terrific. The service was excellent and our waiter was great with suggested appetizers, entrees, wine and dessert. We loved the view and had a wonderful time celebrating there.

I understand they have a new chef, and it made a world of difference as the food was fresh and innovative. Sunset views w open veranda was a perfect way to celebrate w friends. Also they had not cracked the lobster and it was very very difficult to get the meat out of the claws. You definitely need to serve the lobster so that it is easier for the client to eat it. The ambience is perfect for a date, girls night out, after work relaxation or birthday celebration. The food is a little "pricey" but worth every penny. I recommend making a reservation as the Boathouse is consistently busy. Another recommendation is to arrive after the sun goes down. The lighting around and inside the restaurant sets the stage for an awesome dining experience.
My only complaint is the limited parking. The restaurant was very crowded and noisy but the staff had smiles. We tried a variety of dishes. For appetizers we had both the Ceasar and Pear with goat cheese salads, Calamari and a bowl of clam chowder. All were very tasty -the salads crisp and cold and the Calamari perfectly done. I had the Seafood Cioppino for my entree and would order it again! My friends ordered the linguini and stuffed shrimp. Everyone went home satisfied. Now we have found that their Mother's Day brunch is also exceptional. Not the ordinary overcooked, dry assortment of ho-hum food you find at many buffets, this one was prepared with great care and expertise. Crab cakes full of crabmeat, delicious shrimp and grits, smoked salmon, roast beef, chicken...everything was excellent. Complimented by wonderful mimosas and chocolate cake for dessert, the meal was worth every penny (except to spend a few bucks on this one).

Cons: Parking was scarce, the lots were far away and valet service is $7, food was a little pricey and limited to mostly seafood items, but worth it for the ambience, seemed very noisy indoors, so if you are looking for a quiet romantic experience outdoors is the best option

Our party included an elderly relative and we changed our reservation time at the last minute. The restaurant staff could not have been more accommodating. We had a great table and attentive service, plus some small kindnesses that made the evening memorable. We've eaten here several times before and knew the food would be wonderful, but the extra service was what made the most lasting impression.
