  • "We had a party of 6, our food was good, our server Brian was excellent!!"

  • "Scallop special with risotto didn't disappoint, but the cod main with quinoa salad, was supposedly a fan favourite, but was very bland. I'm sure very healthy, but very plain with no flavour."

  • "The food was delicious, the service attentive without being disruptive, and the cost was as expected."

  • "Assisted by beautiful weather our little celebration at The Boathouse was a delight. Service was efficient and the food was well prepared and presented. All in all it was a very good experience. The only negative point was that we were unsure of parking arrangements and when we did find a spot in a general lot, it was rather expensive for a short time. Consequently the end of our meal was rushed."

  • "Had been there 3 times before & did not enjoy my meal. Out with friends from the neighborhood who didn't want to drive anywhere. This time the whole evening was perfect. Food fabulous and service excellent."

  • "Such a special location, beautiful sea side restaurant. so close to a five star all around. Food is sometimes inconsistent in quality and presentation, but overall always a good experience. If something is not quite right they fix it right away. The service is usually spot on and the management do seem to check each table."

  • "celebrated sons 23rd birthday- service was very attentive and friendly, food was nicely prepared and presented, server went to extra troubles to deal with our birthday cake...the view was gorgeous, a little sunny- until it set ( bring sunglasses). Overall a great evening"

  • "We were quite disappointed in the service. They were training a new server so we thought we'd get great attention but as evening went on service dropped. Had to ask several times for ordered drinks and wine. Appetizer plated were left on table til after dinner served and had to ask for them too be removed. Disappointing."

  • "The view is just awesome! the food was good even though my street tacos were a bit too spicy for my taste. The salmon burger that my friend had was massive and looked delicious. The service was fast and friendly. Good place if you like sea food."
    Dined on 6/24/2014
  • "The beautiful view would have earned an outstanding ambience except that the very high noise level and rather crowded seating made it difficult to carry on a conversation. That would not be good as a romantic setting either. Rather expensive to be kid friendly."

  • "The manager made sure my balloons were at the table as promised. The server was very delightful although the wait for drinks was often longer than I would consider acceptable. Food was amazing!"

  • "Very energetic and quite noisy. Attentive servers. Food was well presented and tasty. Some of the vegetables were quite very firm"

  • "I went for brunch with a friend and we both had the Chicken and Apple Sausage Omelette. It was good but came out cold. Same with the potatoes. Considering we were there at 10:30 and it wasn't that busy I was disappointed."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "Our reservation was for 1pm, we did not get our meal until 2pm even though there were very few diners left in the restaurant. Service was very slow, we had to ask to be served initial drinks. If this had been a business lunch with time restraints it would not have worked. You need to work on hiring efficient and customer focused staff."

  • "The Boathouse is my favorite place when it comes to seafood. The firecracker shrimps and the Blackened steelhead are unforgettable memories on my tastebuds. Totally worth going there."

  • "We went with another couple for Valentines dinner. We enjoyed the evening, and the dinner was great, the dessert was tasty too. I'm sure we will come back again, the service was good, the atmosphere was great."

  • "I have to say we were very disappointed. The hostess was friendly but wasnt able to direct us to our table - just said go ahead and look around. The floor beneath out table was filthy, the washroom stall was out of tissue and the carpeting was dirty and had very visible pulls with loose threading. Dinners were good but average - have eaten better for even better value. If this had been our first time there we all agreed we wouldn't be back. Not sure if we will give it another try - there are so many other comparable alternatives in the area and or near by."

  • "The Boathouse at Kits has one of the world's great views, and quite a few tables on the enclosed balcony that are just great on a clear day. The food is very good, not pretentious, but very tasty. The ambience is also very good. The service is normally good, although they seem to have a lot of turnover and the staff sometimes seem inexperienced. I like the wine list a lot. It is not particularly long, but they do a great of job of selecting goods wines that are available by the glass."

  • "I was expecting a little bit more from a Kitsilano Restaurant, especially the Boathouse. I wasn't overly impressed though. The food was average, the portions were disappointingly small considering what was being charged. The quality of the seafood was good, don't get me wrong. But when your charging $35 for a plate, there should be more food on there than what a 5yr old could eat. Our server was excellent, he was very prompt, and adept at keeping drinks full, etc. (His name was Ryan). So I will say that the service was very good. All in all, I probably will not return to this particular location."

  • "Server was slow and uninformed as to menu selections. Forgot to bring children's sundaes that were included with the meal. Had the Eggs Benny - eggs were overcooked."
    Dined on 6/15/2014
  • "Overall the food was very good. I ordered salmon, my husband ordered the seafood mix and my daughter ordered the salmon dinner off the children's menu. Unfortunately my husband's salmon and my daughter's salmon was very dry. Mine was fine. They did end up bringing my husband another piece of salmon which was much better. I am assuming that because it was father's day and it being extremely busy - it was an "off" day for them......but then again, there shouldn't be any excuse for a bad meal. Lovely location for a restaurant."

  • "The view is fantastic. The New lunch menu and food was very good."

  • "The restaurant seems to be going through some tough times. I've been coming here since it was called watermark. At the beginning it was a top notch place, but it seems that since it was bought over by the Boat House things have started to come down from where they were. The restaurant itself is in need of some repairs, the food quality has come down but the prices have gone up. The service is not bad, but I would expect better for that price. I'm sure that if they were in charge of the view, they would have broken that too!"
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "The meals (blackened cod, salmon) were tasty but very small portions. It's not a special if you don't get the same meal for a lesser price. Also $9.25 is too much for a Granville Island Pale Ale. Also although it's nice to have the sun there should be some blinds available to shield your eyes, most restaurants have that."

  • "I need to call the waitress at the entrance to take our orders, took at least 20 minutes. It's not busy that night, but I think they forgot us since we were in the lounge. Food was ok."
    Dined on 6/10/2014
  • "The view is fabulous and the food is great. Too many items on the menu where not available. Not just one item but a few. That was disappointing since we were not a late reservation, we dined early and would expect the menu to be complete. Noise level - it was too loud to have a comfortable conversation. Been here many times and I would say the food was probably better this time than it has been in the past."
    Dined on 6/9/2014
  • "The place is naturally noisy and conversations can be difficult. The service was intermittent and a dish was missed and brought finally after we were all done. My fish was sadly overcooked - why a $26 piece of wild sockeye must end up all dried up in a seafood joint is disappointing. They have the view but they've forgotten the food and service. And to lower the shades a bit when the sun literally cooks you by the window. Perhaps that's why my fish was dehydrated... Go for the view."

  • "I came here for the first time with a relative from New York. I knew that the view would be wonderful, as this location of the Boathouse sits on Kitsilano Beach and it was a sunny (though windy) day. However, given the great location, I expected that it would be hectic and noisy. It wasn't! We arrived early at 11:45 and had a choice of tables against the window. We loved our lunch of grilled salmon on potatoes. The waitress was attentive, the view spectacular, and even as the place filled up it was still quiet enough for a conversation. We had a great tie"

  • "They seems a little overwhelmed. It was HOT as the deck was closed due to reno's and I don't think the A/C was working as it should. I'm sure these will be rectified the next time we make out to the Boathouse. Otherwise, servers were GREAT, food was good."
    Dined on 6/7/2014
  • "This is a perfect setting anytime, but even better on a sunny day. As a result, after some time, it got quite warm in the restuarant. We did ask to have the heat turned off, and our waitress requested that but it did not happen, so we were a tad uncomfortable during our lunch. The Coconut Shrimp was, sadly a bit dry and not as tasty as I thought it could be. However, it is a perfect setting for any meal. "

  • "I personally don't like to feel like I am actually in an oven when I eat, but that was definitely the case at the Boathouse last night. It's gorgeous, yes, but the sweat streaming into my eyes obscured the view. And the food was really so-so. My fresh grilled halibut was rubbery and tasteless despite the mango ginger chutney. The service was excellent, however. I would absolutely try again either for lunch or at a table not so close to the window. Time to think about serious air conditioning!"
    Dined on 6/4/2014
  • "Obviously this restaurant does well and we have been a few times. BUT when are they going to install sunshades. It is a ridiculous kind of heat beating on your face and body and no where to hide from it. Come with sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. We noticed one table had placed something against the window to shield themselves. Food was fine. Drinks reasonable enough. Sticky tables in the bar where we ended up eating to get out of the sun. The hostesses could have done a better job. It is a great location to sample Vancouver beach life, but install sunshades to make people more comfortable. I would not tell anyone to go there unless it was a cloudy day or eve."

  • "This restaurant is a fantastic location for watching a summer sunset!"
    Dined on 5/31/2014
  • "The food and server were great but this is a design flaw of this Boathouse. The restaurant was not full, we were a table of eight and both ends of the table could not hear each other. I still go to this restaurant in spite of this but it takes away from what would have been a perfect afternoon. Please correct the accoustics!"
    Dined on 5/27/2014
  • "The food is average but the view is unbeatable, just don't expect to hear what anyone else at the table is saying. I've experienced a restaurant with such terrible acoustics. Its not loud "cuz its hopping" its just loud!"
    Dined on 5/26/2014
  • "It was not a busy evening, hall only 1/3 full. We ordered ginger cider, steamed mussel dishes. The server came back and told us that they were not available! If they are unavailable, why were they listed in the menu. It would be sensible to put a note or let servers know beforehand. My husband ordered Halibut, which was way overcooked. Considering the price range of this restaurant, we expected better quality. The server was very helpful and friendly, but we were disappointed."

  • "We came here for a special dinner for our last night in Vancouver. We had our 2 year old toddler with us and the staff were accommodating of her needs as well. We had a wonderful night - watching the sunset over Kits Beach is almost enough but the food was simply magnificent! It has remained one of our favourite food memories of our Canadian travels."
