  • "Very tasty food! Love being able to chat with the owners, makes it feel more like a family meal!"

  • "And try each menu item. And the new Fall menu is coming :)"

  • "Exactly what you would expect in Old Town Spring, except the price. You got what you paid for (steak and potatoes for $35.00) so I am not complaining. You just think of OTS as a burger and fries kind of town."

  • "This restaurant is my favorite in Old Town Spring. I love the atmosphere and the food is fantastic. The owners are friendly and always happy. I highly recommend it! I go at least once a month!"

  • "After going for dinner, we decided to try their brunch. Great execution."

  • "Excellent food. Friendly staff and owners. We’ve always had dinner there at 5:30 pm and the restaurant is completely full and people waiting when we leave. Town Spring is LUCKY to get them."

  • "Been all over, Napa, NYC, Vegas, Atlanta, West side of Houston, etc. This easily competes and you will not be disappointed in food."

  • "Had the Sea Bass which was SUPER AMAZING at $36, but came with no sides to fill you up. Also ordered $12 Mediterranean salad, also very good, but for that price I expected it to be huge. It was only slightly bigger than a side salad. Staff was very friendly, but didn't do any regular checking to see if we were okay. I had to ask for more bread instead of being offered more bread. The servings were so small I wanted even MORE bread but was too embarrassed to ask, and they didn't ask me. After paying a hefty bill, we left the restaurant still hungry and stopped at a cheap sandwich place to fill up, since we skipped lunch in anticipation of a huge dinner. All in all, very good food, but leaving the restaurant hungry was a first for me."

  • "finally "not" a large chain . . we have eaten here many times and we have enjoyed the food each time. Chef uses what's in season to prepare his menus. We love coming here"

  • "It is wonderful to find an original restaurant in suburbia. The Black Seep is aptly named; with a diverse menu and a chef with an appetite to create, the restaurant stretches well beyond Spring's usual fare. Burrata Caprese was fresh full of flavor, the crab cake was one of the best I have ever tasted, and the salmon was cooked to perfection. The Heights-esque pink shanty doesn't keeps it simple by focusing on the food and not worrying about interior design; can't wait to go back and try the lobster sliders."

  • "The food was great, atmosphere was funky chic eclectic, service was super friendly. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "Stumbled across this restaurant on the internet, but couldn't place it....then saw it in person while I was in Old Towne Spring and decided to check it out. My wife and I went to dinner that same evening, and thought the food was fantastic. We had the baked oysters, sea bass, and ragout. Everything was great. The service was excellent, as well. The food took a little while to come out, but we were enjoying ourselves enough not to notice. The server (Aspen) was the most precious and charming young lady.....she really helped make our dining experience special. The owners have an intriguing story, and we enjoyed our dinner even more for having known it."

  • "We had the chicken won tons, oysters with sausage, filet mignon and horseradish crusted ribeye steak. The demi glaze on the carrots was divine. All the food was excellent, perfect for a nice date night."

  • "It was a pleasant atmosphere for a old house that had been converted into a restaurant. The staff was friendly, however they were out of beer because they do not have the space for refrigeration and had sold it all the night before. Not everyone drinks wine and other options should be made available, even if you have to cool the beer in a ice chest. The food was very good. The Salmon was truly the best dish. My steak was overcooked. I ordered medium and it was serviced medium well. We may try it for Sunday brunch."

  • "We had heard good things about Black Sheep Bistro from Open Table reviews. Now that we've been there, we fully support all the good news everyone is reporting! The organic king salmon was SO GOOD! WOW. The accompanying cous-cous and vegetables were wonderful as well. The other entree we ordered was the ribeye steak with baked potatoes - very nice. We started with the Mediteranean salad, very fresh and delicious. We found a wine we enjoyed and will probably order again-not overpriced for Spring residents. Finishing with the fabulous, silky chocolate mousse, we delighted in the wonderful flavors we enjoyed at Black Sheep Bistro."

  • "We have been dinning at The Black Sheep Bistro for a while now. Love this place. The food is amazing! Lobster Sliders, Sea Bass, the cheese plate, just a few of our favorites! The owners are really great! Great servers. Everyone is so friendly! Some of the best food around!"

  • "We are regular diners here and Joe, Maria and staff continue to provide a wonderful dining experience. From the front door to the kitchen, all works rather smoothly, and considering the close quarters, that in itself is amazing. The yellow fin tuna dinner special was one of the best seafood dishes I have ever tasted. Hubbie continues with his favorites of the black sheep sliders or fettuccine bolognese, excellent, bar none. The venison pate appetizer special was dynamic. I say try it, you'll like it! The atmosphere is very much like dining at home, without the cooking hassle, diners interact as though they are family, even if they are not. If you are looking for a stuffy, nose in the air place, go somewhere else."

  • "Living in Houston, there are so many restaurants to choose from. The Black Sheep Bistro is where you should go! Amazing food- had to try the sea bass from all of the reviews. It was fabulous! The tuna special was equally as yummy. We are foodies- prefer a great meal and wine list over just about anything- this bistro will not disappoint!!! Was concerned we might should have brought our own vino and paid the corkage fee,but decided to try theirs. It is pretty extensive- just not the wines you find at Kroger (which makes me happy!!) We will go back very soon for the brunch on Sunday. The owners are very personable and involved in checking on their patrons- made the whole experience even better!"

  • "Saw these guys were ranked nationally as one of the top neighborhood bistros in the country in HBJ. Made a reservation online for Friday night and everything about it was first rate. Wonderfully prepared creative menu choices, quiet atmosphere, knowledgable friendly wait staff and owners that truly treat like friends. This the kind of place my wife and I look for and rarely find (and we look often)."

  • "This is a restaurant converted from an old house. I had the pork chop and my wife had the ravioli. Both were prepared to perfection. The waitstaff was good but not at fine dining level. Overall the experience was good."

  • "Not our first visit by any means. Great food, service and ambience continue to bring us back to this bistro."

  • "was perfect. They had sliders: lamb and also the lobster, which I've had before and can attest to their deliciousness. I had the oyster platter. The restaurant has added a few tables since we were here last and it really opened the place up. They are working on their outdoor seating; hopefully it will be shaded and breezy... This place is a go-to restaurant with excellent food prepared by Chef Joseph and excellent service, spurred on by Maria, a Jersey girl right at home in Texas. What a wonderful place to entertain, with fairly priced wine, good views, and an over-all friendly atmosphere. And then came the cannoli's with ricatta cheese, thank you very much."

  • "I have been here a couple of times. Everything I've had has been delicious. My friends all agree!"

  • "This place is just awesome. Chef Joe is just awesome. The food is immaculate. Even the table bread is hard for me to stop eating with entrees on the table. Always a pleasure"

  • "Tried it for lunch. Food was good but not great. It is unique to the area as the menu does offer dishes apart from the usual boring offerings in this area."

  • "This was my second time eating at the Black Sheep Bistro. This time my husband and I brought another couple with us. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We had the beet salad ... very delicious. For dinner around the table, we at the shrimp dinner, tuna, and Chilean sea bass, all the meals were wonderful The service was friendly and attentive too. We will return."

  • "My husband I were looking for a restaurant to go to for dinner on Saturday evening close to home in Spring. I found The Black Sheep on Open Table and after reading the previously written positive reviews we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed. I had shrimp and my husband had pork chops, both dishes were delicious. We shared a Beef Satay appetizer and the Mediterranean salad, delicious as well. We finished with the cannoli's yummy! We will definitely return to this restaurant."

  • "The sea bass was amazing, wine list was so so. Service was average. Very interesting dining atmosphere, it's an old refurbished house in old town Spring. The owner/chef and his wife were very visible and attentive to their guests. Another server would have been helpful considering the amount of tables that were there when we ate. Overall recommend enjoying the lamb, sea bass and Mediterranean Salad"

  • " No pretense, reasonably priced. Had some minor kinks with the food but supple red wine, honest service, and nice ambience compensated handsomely. Worth a visit."

  • "This was our second time at Black Sheep and again, Loved this place! Had the Sea Bass, one of the best I have ever had. Service was outstanding. The atmosphere is perfect - not your typical "restaurant" style - it is an old house and has a very warm and cozy feel! Would definitely recommend this place."
    Dined on 6/13/2014
  • "All the other reviews you've been reading are absolutely correct -- this is a fabulous place. We had the lunch special meatloaf (and I usually don't even like meatloaf), but the waiter convinced me that this was the buy of the day. And, he was right. It was incredible. And, the service just doesn't get any better."

  • "I knew this restaurant was going to be good and I wasn't disappointed. We went for my fiances birthday and it will be our regular special occasion venue. Every food on the menu looked delicious and our food was outstanding starting with the fresh warm bread out out on the table. We will definitely be back"

  • "Oysters, crab cake, caprese starters were all really excellent. Grilled Oysters were my favorite. Pork chop, rack of lamb, sea bass all great. The sea bass with miso glaze and sake marinate was absolutely the best fish I have had in many years"

  • "Tucked away in Old Town Spring, The Black Sheep Bistro brings upscale dining to a low-key neighborhood. My husband and I dined there on a Saturday night and were impressed with the staff, the eclectic but delicious wine selections and were blown away by the food. At the suggestion of the wife of the chef we had the sea bass and the pork chop and both were incredible. We will be going back for more special occasions! The only thing we didn't love was the choice of music being piped a little too loudly through the restaurant. It didn't seem to match the rest of the ambiance. The was a large, happy party dining near us, so perhaps on this night the noise level was more "energetic" than the norm."

  • "It was really good. The food was all so fresh. Will definitely return for more. Felt like we made a 'real find'. Hope they continue to do well."

  • "We have been here many times for dinner, but had no idea they offered brunch! YEA!! We showed up at 11 and requested an outdoor seat on the patio. Kat is always so sweet and personable. Love her! My husband had the french toast and said it was the best he'd ever had. I had the crab cake eggs benedict. Amazing! The mimosa's were delightful! We will definitely return for brunch and dinner! Love this place!"

  • "BSB in OTS is the perfect spot for delicious, creative dishes. Joe is a master of flavors & his tableside chats are always personable. Love the shrimp and polenta & the pork chop can't be beat. Your taste buds can't help but smile after eating at this charming spot. "
