  • "Texas French Bread never ceases to impress. Save room for the butterscotch budino."
    Dined on 8/15/2014
  • "There is a different menu every night, but the options are endless and everything is delicious. Bread is delicious. You can even bring your own wine though the cork fee is a bit high at $12"

  • "It easy for TFB to fall off your radar come dinner time - don't let it! Small, but very thoughtful and well-rounded menu and a creative (though very Euro - not that that's a bad thing)wine list to pair with. Or BYOB which is a great option. The Steak Frites was devine. Absolutely mouth-watering."

  • "The restaurant is doing many things right. However, the drum entree was way over cooked and the pork Milanese was so tough that it was a struggle to cut it. The flavor of all the dishes was quite good. The lighting could be better. We will definitely return."

  • "Started with the frites - yummy appetizer especially for those who, sadly, cannot eat the wonderful bread. My drum was perfectly prepared and the sides were delicious. For dessert we shared the caramel custard which was just fabulous. We went early so it was nice and quiet although TFB can be lively a little later in the evening. Highly recommend!"

  • "Food good enough but a little pricey for the very small portions"

  • "Thanks for a fabulous birthday meal. Everything was delicious, as always."

  • "This gem of a local restaurant featuring local produce and organic ingredients is a wonderful choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I favor local restaurants with a "soul" where the best ingredients are combined with great service. It's not far from UT, downtown or from Mo-PAC in Austin, making it an accessible hot spot for great food."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "The food we got was very good, but the portions were really, really tiny. I had the trout, and I think my filet would qualify to be described as a sliver. The green beans that were with it were very few. The noise level was very high - not "energetic," but LOUD."
    Dined on 7/19/2014
  • "This place is consistently good for breakfast AND dinner. Walnut banana pancakes? They got 'em. And guess what? They're awesome. Steak Frites with delish wine? Got it. They can't go wrong. Go there. Now. Oh and make reservations b/c this place is in high demand."

  • "The food was as excellent as I remember from previous visits. Locally sourced and expertly prepared. However, the prices seemed quite steep for the quantity. Our $15 cheese plate was delicious as was the $10 squash blossom appetizer, but very small amounts. We enjoyed the chicken, risotto and our friend who had the steak frites shared a few frites - but no steak. He said it was delicious. Old timers who remember bringing your own wine. . . . now, there is a $12 corkage fee."

  • "Quaint restaurant that serves fresh and organic meals. Deserts are fantastic"

  • "This place is a gem not to be missed. The décor is very bistro and the tables are well placed. Food is amazing. Simple great ingredients playing their respective roles in the creative dishes. Everything we ordered was delicious, and I would not say that this is necessarily a healthy food joint, but you can tell that the chef knows about eating healthy with great dishes. Highly recommended!!!"

  • "Great place to eat. We went for dinner and was great. The wine and the kids pasta was a little more expensive that we thought can be. But the place is great our food exquisite. The desserts amazing . Young chefs with a lot of creativity, healthy food with local and good quality ingredients. This place would be our little place to go every Sunday ."

  • "Six of us went to dinner on a Tuesday at 7:30p. The food was terrific, the waiter was attentive, and the experience was worthy of a return visit. Mu husband and I had been to dinner a couple of weeks prior on a Friday and the portion size was considerably larger on the Friday than it was on the Tuesday. We had the black drum both times and the 2nd time the portion was at least 70% less. Still yummy, just really small."

  • "My boyfriend & I eat out often in central Austin. Texas French bread is our favorite place. Menu changes all the time, food is always excellent and the cost is very reasonable. The service is attentive but not overly so. I love the dining room - it reminds me of a lovely french restaurant in the south of France. Casual elegance"

  • "My partner, a recently "recovering vegetarian", was hoping to indulge in her first steak in about 9 years on her birthday. A requirement was humanely raised grass-fed beef. The only place she found meeting this criteria with a price within the realm of reason was Texas French Bread. Having only been to Texas French Bread for coffee previously, I wasn't sure what to expect. Texas French Bread delivered an excellent dining experience, exceeding our expectations. My drum and her steak were both cooked perfectly. Our waiter was VERY friendly and attentive, a delight. We were also provided a complimentary birthday dessert. That will endear you to me forever right there, but then we were also provided with a bag of pastries! We will be back!"

  • "TFB is still my favorite restaurant in Austin. The food is always good, fresh from local producers, and prepared in creative combinations. There are no bad choices on the limited menu and there is something for everyone's taste. Service is always helpful and friendly."

  • "The food's fresh, fresh, fresh; the ingredients perfection and the dishes are everything from classic to creative and the atmosphere is cozy. Oh, and the wait staff are so accommodating and it's obvious they really like their jobs! "
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "Enjoyed our evening at Texas French Bread but some of the food seemed pretty bland. We could tell it was very fresh but, for someone who doesn't add salt to food, I did to almost every dish I tried. I do recommend the fries with lemon sauce if they are on the menu! Also love the idea of bringing your own drinks - but if you're a party of 2 and plan to have only one glass of wine, it's probably cheaper to avoid the uncorking fee of $12 and have a glass each from their wine list. "

  • "I took my girlfriend the other night and overall was not impressed with the tastes of the dishes. The brussel sprouts weren't even cooked thoroughly and the pork milanese was dry. This place is really cool and great for lunch/ pastry and coffee, but not worth another visit for dinner."
    Dined on 5/2/2014
  • "I really love this place. Great service, food, concept, friendly staff, owner. Unique wine list. Can't say enough good things about it!"

  • "Texas French is in my neighborhood. It is a warm and friendly place where everybody know your name. The food is really 5 star. I love being able to take my own wine for a small corkage fee. "

  • "Cool atmosphere, dim lighting, quiet and relaxing. A girl at the table next to us was reading a book the whole time I was there and she never seemed to be disturbed by noise or commotion. The food was good but the fact that all of it was cooked with ingredients from local farms makes the meal even more delicious. We initially were going to bring our own bottle of wine in to drink but ended up settling on a couple glasses from their own selection. Great place to take a date. "

  • "I love TFB, and have loved it for several years. The food is fresh and lovingly prepared with natural, locally-sourced ingredients. The wait staff are well-informed and extremely pleasant. Now that they serve wine, the place is the top-notch! It's rare to find a place that takes such pride in their food and service. A real pleasure to eat there."

  • "Wonderful and amazing local restaurant for casual and great dining in the heart of Austin. the service is amongst the best there is and this place has a fierce and loyal following. "
    Dined on 4/18/2014
  • "Once again we enjoyed a lovely, delicious, imaginative dinner of the freshest ingredients. This time TFB had perfect wine selections, as well! Never pretentious, always welcoming; a perfect, happy spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner."
    Dined on 4/18/2014
  • "My wife and I have been to TFB for dinner 3-4 times, always with superlative results. TFB has remodeled, gone upscale, raised its rates, but the dining experience has not been elevated commensurately. My duck ragu tasted like Arby's roast beef over pasta. And they're charging $9 for corkage--that's too high. We won't be returning. There are too many other great places in town."

  • "Murph and his team are all super friendly and welcome you as if you're a long lost friend. The food is mindfully sourced and prepared and is consistently well prepared. I love the salad lyonaise and frites to start, and the fish is always fresh and tasty."
    Dined on 4/9/2014
  • "We took a group there fro dinner. Some selections were excellent (Black Drum, Vegetarian Root Medley), some were not liked (The duck Pasta, generally lacking in flavor). Mussel appetizer was very good also. We liked the ambiance, service was very good."

  • "Had a dinner with friends here and the food was delicious. Locally sourced ingredients and good variety on the menu. It is bring your own wine, which is nice and keeps the bill down."

  • "One of my favorites! Its in the neighborhood, the food is always wonderful, and you bring your own wine....Great for a date or friends getting together to catch up. The menu changes, but keep some of the favorites....Lunch there is also delicious! "

  • "Their interesting menus change constantly. Most of the food comes from local farms. The wait staff always makes you feel welcome. Did I say the food is always delicious! My boyfriend and I come here 2 or 3 times a month. Best to make a reservation. You save money because you bring your own bottle of wine. Prices are most reasonable. Nice ambiance - you feel like you're in a small french restaurant in the South of France."

  • "The experience is always welcoming and enjoyable at Texas French Bread. Locally sourced menu is based on seasonal availability. It's bring your own wine for a reasonable fee. Love this place!"

  • "The atmosphere is casual and noisy. The food is excellent. For lunch I like the special. They make .a good chicken salad. For dinner the black drum was excellent. One can also enjoy the availability of baked goodies"

  • "Enjoyed the ambiance. Service was not great - had to remind server of prior requests. Ravioli was under done and a bit cold when served, but could have been great. Like the BYOB (in this case, wine) policy."
