Diner Reviews
  • "The food was great and the service was a plus. Very prompt and knowledgeable waiter! Murphy at the bar was fabulous, delicious drinks."

  • "Because the kitchen was a little slow, the waitstaff was more than accommodating. From the time we entered, from the host stand until we left, service was wonderful."

  • "Our roasted beet salad was delicious! Lots of beets both red and golden and a wonderful, smooth, creamy dressing. Entrees were also excellent----risotto and pork tenderloin. The pork tenderloin was served with carrots and apples----sweet and pleasing. Dessert was a bust! We chose the homemade cookies to have with our coffee. The cookies were nothing special at all-----about 9 small cookies that were rather flavorless----almond crescent, chocolate chip, oatmeal, butter, pine nut, gingersnap, etc. I have had tastier cookies that were store-bought. We really like cookies and these were just a flat ending to a very good meal. Definitely try some other dessert!"

  • "I had a very enjoyable experience here -- a great spot for a business lunch or a nice meal before the theatre. Service was great and the food was very good. The decor is excellent and it's one of the better lunch spots in the east Loop area. I would definitely go here again."

  • "I have eaten at Tesori a few times and as expected the food was terrific. The service, my first time for a per-concert visit was not up to the standards of the food. Given the location in Symphony Hall this should be place with efficient and attentive service, before a concert. As stated the food, beet salad, risotto, pork tenderloin, sorbet and mousse were delicious. Our waitress was just kind of disappeared, a drink request went unfilled, our check sat waiting to be picked up for a long time, and the receipt took even longer to come back."

  • "We had dinner here before attending the Chick Corea concert at the Auditorium Theatre. It was amusing to try and guess which patrons were hitting a jazz concert and which were going to the symphony... it was a good blend of both! Service was perfect... we weren't rushed. We were asked at the beginning of the meal what time we wanted to leave and everything was paced to that time. The food was quite good -- but be prepared... the Chef is not afraid to use salt! We definitely will keep this on our list of places to go when going to a concert or after spending time at the Art Institute."

  • "The food was great but our server was so out of it. He only brought 2 out of 3 soups out and then he charged us for four. He wrote our order wrong for pizza and then didn't admit to it at first then some manager or someone came over and apologized and changed the order. then when he broguht the bill he dropped the signed copy before he fled off. He was just really ditzy and out of it and it kind of ruined the overall feel of the night."

  • "They have an amazing wine list. The carrot/ginger soup was just perfect and the angel hair seafood pasta dish was outstanding. Our waiter was very personable and extremely helpful. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "We all felt that the food was good to mediocre. Too much lapse in serving time, not enough table "bussing" going on - empty water glasses, empty bread basket, etc."

  • "This restaurant took over inexplicably from the famous and excellent Rhapsody. The food was OK, We had Duck, steak and Salmon. The salmon was requested medium far and came medium well. The food is nothing special and a little pricey for what is offered. Our waiter was great. I miss Rhapsody!"

  • "We made this our regular pre-concert restaurant after dining here."

  • "With Chef Andrew's personal attention his Veal Cheeks and Pork Belly were not only a home run, but a hit out of the park. Fantastic attention span....."

  • "Convenient dinner before the concert, or apertif afterwards. Varied menu."

  • "Service was poor, food only so-so. We'll find other options around symphony."

  • "Excellent dining experience! Enthusiastic waiter, with great suggestions. Toward the end, the wait staff wasn't as present as they were earlier , but overall, they were great. The food was Excellent, layered with interesting flavor but not overcomplicated. Portions were generous but not too Heavy which is good considering we went to a concert Right afterwards."

  • "The main thing is very convenient access to Orchestra Hall (Chicago Symphony). You don't even have to walk outside. The restaurant is visually pleasant and not too loud. The $38 rib eye had flavor, but not much else. The duck breast was tough with large veins of fat. It's the only duck breast I've ever had that was really not so good. The house salad was good, and about large enough to fill a coffee cup. The wine-by-the-glass cabernet from Chile was really great, the best thing of the meal, except the plate of small cookies my mom ordered -- they were also really excellent. This is a pre-symphony crowd; everyone gets there and leaves at the same time. Perhaps that explains the slooooow service. But they got us to the symphony on time."

  • "Tesori is a slightly revised version of Rhapsody with a somewhat more Italian menu. The food is average for a upper-end Chicago restaurant, but the management seems to think that wrapping paper sheets are a substitute for a tablecloth. They are ill-fitting and often catch on a man's suit coat or sport coat. It is not clear whether this is a cost-saving effort or someone's attempt to be trendy, but it fails in either case. Tesori will survive because of its proximity to the Chicago Symphony, especially in the winter, but it would not be our first choice in nicer weather when we can walk to numerous other quality restaurants."

  • "Dinner at Tesori is an event worthy of the symphony performance that follows the meal! The service is outstanding, surpassed only by the excellence of the food!"

  • "So close to the attractions (museum & symphony)! The chittara was manifico! Beet salad and soup very good. Will be back"

  • "The new restaurant at Symphony Center (replacing Rhapsody) is excellent. Beautiful setting, wonderful food presented in a lovely manner. Very convenient for the symphony but could be a destination itself. Service was top notch in keeping with the sophisticated setting. First time but can't wait to go back."

  • "We were in town for a concert at Symphony Hall. We chose Tesori both for its proximity and its inviting view from outside. We were not disappointed. From the minute we walked in it was first-class. Our server asked if we were going to the concert and helped us pace the meal perfectly. He was friendly but not over the top, knowledgeable, and was careful with allergy issues. The ribeye and the filet were superb, doneness as requested. The rest of the meal also was excellent. Good coffee and tasty little cookies were a fine segue to the concert. We'll definitely come here again when in town. Make reservations; it filled up quickly."

  • "The food and especially the desert were quite good. Our waitress does not want to be a waitress. She made it very clear by her manner and attitude that she was not happy to be serving at Tesori. We made our feeling known to the management. This being said, Tesori is a perfect place to dine when going to the Chicago Symphony."

  • "Service was slow and inattentive. Food was just okay, much of it very bland."

  • "Have been to Tesori several times before a CSO (Chicago Symphony Orchestra) concert. The Sevice is fast, freindly, and knowledgable. The food is Outstanding.... You never feel rushed though 90% of the patrons all have to be out about the same time. Tesori is a Great place to dine anytime !"

  • "This should be a place with efficient service because it is located within symphony hall. The food is okay but the real problem here is simply not enough servers. There was no weather event so we can't say there were no shows in the help department. Although we were some of the very first patrons that evening, It took forever to get our entrees. Mine was cold but my husbands was hot. All in all we were there for almost two hours ! Good thing we had plenty of time"

  • "This is the second time we've been to Tesori, following the space's change from Rhapsody. Won't go back. Both times have been disappointing for such a convenient spot to Symphony Center, nice décor and view, and what Rhapsody had provided. Never should have changed! On both visits service was the root of the problems. This visit, did not feel at all welcomed. Had reservn. Took 20 minutes to be asked for a drink order. Had four different waiters/waitresses. Had to ask for a napkin (was never on the table). Had to ask for a knife (taken with the salad plate but never replaced when the entrée came). Bus staff more attentive than wait staff. Entrees: one lukewarm, the other hot. Kitchen is off on its timing and not keeping food warm."

  • "Our reservation was honored swiftly. We enjoyed our meals at Tsori. We were headed to a concert at Symphony Hall so found it very convenient to valet the car & then walk through- not having to leave the building to get to the concert. The service was very attentive and accommodating. Salads were good for sharing and they conveniently split them for us. Seafood dishes were delicious. Salmon came a bit under cooked but was re-cooked in minutes to satisfaction. Celebrated a birthday and brought in a pie (for pi day) which we were unable to finish. The server kindly reboxed, labeled & stored in their cooler so we could pick it up at the end of the concert."

  • "It is a great place to go before the symphony. Of course the location could not be better but they are well prepared to deal with people on a time schedule. They are very welcoming and I never feel rushed."

  • "Perfect before and after performances at Symphony Center."

  • "A couple of friends and I met there after work and it was busy, because of a symphony concert that evening. It is a beautiful and cozy restaurant. The portions were perfectly sized - making it easy for concert patrons. We were seated right by the serving station/kitchen and it was surprising quiet. There was no straining to hear the conversation. As a vegetarian, I was provided with a number of options. I selected the risotto and it was creamy, flavorful, the rice was perfectly done. It was a delight. Finally, our server was awesome! He was insightful about the entrees, and eager to accommodate us. I would not hesitate to go back again."

  • "Good place to eat before a concert if you are into different foods--not your ordinary American steaks and mashed potato. Was a bit noisey--could not really hear well to talk to a person sitting directly across from me. Food was outstanding, however, so we didn't talk much anyway."

  • "We like this place especially for the CSO concert nights. While we do enjoy the food and ambiance, It is the service that is excellent from the greeting at check in to the waitstaff. Never intrusive, but always attentive and well paced."

  • "tesori is a wonderful replacement to Rhapsody. The menu is more interesting and the food consistently delicious. As a regular post-Symphony patron, I appreciate tesori and look forward to our meals there. They do a great job of getting everyone seated in the post-concert rush and generally the service is good. I do have one complaint on the service, however, especially since it has now happened three times in a row: our food arrives before our wine order does. When you are seated, they don't give you a wine list so you wait until a waiter shows up with the list. By the time you order and then they bring the wine, the food has long been served."

  • "It was okay but too expensive for the quality of the food. We went after a concert in the middle of the week, and they were out of two of the dishes on their menu. The fish I got was not bad, but not fresh. The service was wonderful, very attentive, and the wait staff went the extra mile for us when we could not eat one of the foods."

  • "Came here two weeks to n a row prior to CSO. We decided it is one of our favorite restaurants in the loop. Even if the concert is not to our liking, the evening out is still enjoyable thanks to Tesori."

  • "Tesori's menu is excellent and the food is superbly prepared. Simple, elegant presentation also is the hallmark of a great kitchen. Each time I have eaten there, the server has been efficient, friendly and knowledgeable. Keep up the high standards and good work!"

  • "This restaurant was a perfect place to have dinner before going to the CSO. We were able to valet our car & pick it up when the concert ended. We were also able to leave our coats at the coatcheck until after the concert was over. What a plus!We never had to leave the building on this snowy night - we parked, had dinner, attended the concert and then got back into our car all without going outside! As for the food - I had the ceasar salad which was delish. Both men had the smoked trout salad-it was excellent. My friend had the vege soup (which was more a puree instead of vegetable chunks)-she enjoyed it.I had the chicken cacciatore which was very tasty, my husband had the snapper which he enjoyed and the other couple had the pork and salmon."
