  • "To be honest, I had such high hopes coming into Terroni's. I heard a lot about it. As soon as I walked in, I was excited. The Place looks great. We sat down, got our table right when reservation was made. First thing, the music was too loud. Could barely hear each other talking. Came to the point where we just ate. The appetizer came, which was a mixed platter of meats and cheeses, and that was great. One thing I noticed was I could barely read the menu. The font just did not work with the lighting, and i had to turn my phone's flashlight to read it. Main courses came, and i had the sausage and black truffle pasta, and it was poor. No flavour, and just bland. Disappointed, my girlfriends dish wasn't memorable either.Doubt I'll be coming back"

  • "Im a young person and go to concerts all the time so noise is not an issue for me but something was off about this location. They sat us in a very small crammed location where it was difficult to leave the table. There was about 8 inches between other tables and as you moved around you were getting into you table neighbour's food/table space. Also felt like you were competing to talk over your neighbours and couldn't stop paying attention to others. The ambient noise in the room was extremely loud and even though you were sitting in front your date you were yelling at them so they could hear what you were saying. in short: bad layout/noise. food was classic and tasty but at a very good price. drink selection also very good."

  • "Second time at this restaurant. Vibrant and fun. A but noisy due to poor acoustic softening, but that is the trade off in an authentic converted courthouse in old Toronto. Great food and very friendly service. Walking distance to main downtown area (or a quick subway ride to areas just outside the core. I'll be back."

  • "I've been at this restaurant many times and expect a little better. My friend's salad was not fresh, leaves were brown. Our waitress did not remember to bring drinks we ordered and didn't come back to check to see if the food was ok. No pizza was good, no complaints there."

  • "We enjoyed out food and service was pretty prompt, considering how packed it was. I did think the glass of wine was pretty small (4 oz max) for the price. Also maybe I missed an elevator - but in general a very inaccessible space, fyi. Steps everywhere, and many steps down to the bathroom."

  • "We are frequent diners at Terroni's, and this was by far the best server we've ever had. She was very knowledgeable, discrete in her serving, and seemed to know what we needed/wanted before we did. Made what we knew would be a great evening even better. I'm only sorry I didn't get her name."

  • "Great ambiance and service. The food is really good. However the noise level is just not tolerable and we went fleeing from there to the comparative silence of the street. I am not sure that it was worth is due to the noise and resultant difficulty to communicate with guests."

  • "Had reservations for 7pm. Rules are half the party must arrive, before seating & will only hold for 15mins. The entire party of 10, was at the restaurant at 7pm, however we waited well over 30 mins for our table. I don't like rules, if the restaurant is not able to live up to their commitment. Also, not really liking an automatic 18% gratuity added to the bill for parties over 6. The server was great and if this was not automatically charged, I'm quite confident he would have received more, even with the late seating. Food was great as was wine. Will definitely return but not with a large party."

  • "Food was fantastic!! I try to stay away from pasta because of carbs/glutten. I do like to treat myself once in a while but the pasta has to be amazing to be worth the indulgence. Definately worth the cheat night :)"

  • "Totally different vibe from upstairs, which is the scene most people go to Terroni for"

  • "We enjoyed our lunch. But the meal was only average quality yet fully priced. I know I can buy even more delicious Italian food for the same price or less, elsewhere. Pizza crusts could be thinner and perhaps baked longer. Crusts were too thick and pale beige in colour, so they were not hot and delicious in appearance. A customer sitting beside us was served a pizza with way too much prosciutto draped on top. Not appetizing to look at! Ambience was fine. Bustling, energetic crowd of business people. Waitress provided good service; no concerns."

  • "Rule-based dining Terroni has the reputation for being unwavering for their no-substitutions policy. I have no problem with this. Unfortunately, this "stickler" attitude tends to permeate into all of their aspects of service. I was told that although I could carry my glass of wine to my table from the bar, I would have settle up with the bar tender rather than have it transfered to my dinner bill. This is nonsense but not really a big deal (not to me anyway, I was just less generous with my tip). Also I felt that overall the service staff has a holier-than-thou attitude. The food was great."

  • "Other than we were sitting in an area that diners are a few inches to the left and right...it was a great evening out. We actually had to move the table for my companion on the bench seating to get out...then do the same each time the guests on each side had to get out. Food is great, service excellent, and though we didn't recognize any of the wines (many I understand are from exclusive wineries in Italia) the wine suggested was a reasonable price and exactly what we were looking for. It looks like the bar area is popular...really filing up as we left. Lots of areas to seat large groups. And the restaurant itself is spectacular architecture."

  • "This was my first time at the Terroni Adelaide location. Beautiful building and great food, but terrible service. Our waitress was rude, condescending and straight up acted like she owned the place. I suppose she wasn't happy me and my friends weren't drinking but that's still no way to treat customers. We had a meat/cheese plate, pasta and pizza, all top notch - go for the food, if anything."

  • "Had a great dinner at Terroni, it was a very busy evening, but our server made us feel very special, and was lovely. She was a cute little blonde with short hair, wish i could remember her name. She had great suggestions, and was attentive enough, but gave us time to really enjoy ourselves. Def suggest coming here for dinner! :D"

  • "Great food! Was seated in the front room for the first time which was really crammed. My friend and I were pretty much seated with the groups on both sides of us which made conversations interesting. I would definitely recommend checking out the restaurant."

  • "Terroni is a consistent favourite of mine ... I always have trouble deciding which amazing dish to order and the ambience is great for both a romantic evening or dinner with friends. Service is attentive."

  • "This is apparently a hot spot on Adelaide. Very busy... tables VERY closely spaced . Our reservation was for 5:00 and the hostess did give the clear indication that we were expected out by 7:00. We enjoyed four courses of very good food. I did request a bit of good old fashioned butter for my bread with one course and was flatly told I could not have any... they have special olive oil apparently... "yes" the server acknowledged they do have butter in the kitchen... I just couldn't have any of it...REALLY.....? cost her a minimum of 5 - 10% on the tip...sorry but read some books on service excellence my friends."

  • "food is difficult to eat. Why not precut the pizza? Even when asked the wait staff to cut up the pizza, was told "we don't do that. That's why you have a knife". Prociutto in strips on pizza? Should have been cut into chunks, made it impossible to work with it. And with the fireplace on, it was pretty, but pretty hot too."

  • "Even on a Tuesday evening it was very busy....It's a large restaurant, in a historical building. The tables are close together, similar to what you experience in European restaurants. We shared a half liter of white wine which was not quite cold enough. For starters we had a green salad and the soup of the day - both were good. Our entrees we chose after asking the waiter what was good. We both really enjoyed our pastas - the ravioli and tonnarelli."

  • "Always a joy to get to Terroni's - I don't live near one. The best part was sharing it with people that have never been before even though they visit downtown Toronto often. They are heading back with their friends on their next visit. Thanks!"

  • "Our main meals were excellent, but we found the overall attitude of Terroni to be a bit pretentious. The kitchen is really inflexible with changing any food orders. For example, we only wanted green olives as a starter, but were told this wasn't possible- all the olives are mixed together. When it came out it was literally a bowl of olives and they totally could have just served green. Instead we had to pay for food we knew we wouldn't eat. Similarly, the olive oil that came with our bread was OK, but we wanted to add some balsamic to it. This also wasn't possible. The olive oil is imported from Italy and balsamic would detract from the flavour, blah blah blah. Terroni seems to put their food first, and the (paying) customer second."

  • "Reservation was given to another party. We were then left with sitting at table in the basement. We love the food and ambiance but it seems that most of the managers really don't care to resolve client complaints. We have eaten here 3 times and every time there is a mess up of some kind but no one cares about customer satisfaction."

  • "food and service was good. the pizza is really yummy. a bit funny that you have to pay extra for bread on the table. had some confusion with waitress over splitting the bill but other than that service was good. would come back here again"

  • "Terroni is usually a go to favorite after work for us and being italian and al I love wood oven pizza (sorry I am biased but I wont eact pasta out of my house because no one makes sugo like mama). Typically the pizza is really good however this time the ingredients tasted.......OLD. I know sopressata, we make sopressata and I can tell you that what was on my pizza was below par. However I picked it off and the hot peppers made everything go down better. The staff is medicore and it seems like everyone sucked on sour patch candies but if you can get passed that - the place isnt bad. Salads are great and I had great company so all in all the evening was fun."

  • "Went for our 4 year anniversary, was a big crown of people waiting but we got seated right away with our reservation. We had previously been to the location on Yonge street and liked it lot. Love the atmosphere, the waitress was very helpful in choosing from the wine list. Our appetizer and entree ended up coming to the table at the same time, but the waitress quickly corrected it and took our entrees back to have them re-made when we were finished with our appetizer. Food was delicious, had the fried calamari and we both ordered pizza. Would definitely go back!"

  • "My cousin and I went for dinner other night and had a great time. The one thing we found a bit odd was how close the tables were. It was to the point where I felt I needed to introduce myself and ask if they wanted to share an appetizer. So perhaps removing one table and increasing the distances between patrons could be considered."

  • "I travel a fair bit. The first thing I do in any city I go to is look for proper Italian food. Terroni fit the bill. They have a an excellent menu and good wines. Us Italians are very fussy with our food so the next time I come to Toronto I will definitely go to Terroni again. Well done!"

  • "The server went the extra mile to accommodate adults and an 8 month old. He made sure that the pasta for the baby was soft and chewy (unlike the al dente for the adults) and was happy to bring extra bread. A high chair was waiting for us, and he assured us that clean-up was no problem! Smiles were provided for free by all servers. It was an enjoyable experience; our food was delicious and hot, although we did have to wait a while for our entrees. The server was apologetic and made sure that we had bread and drinks to keep us going. We would go again, either with the baby or as a group of adults out for a casual Friday night meal."

Main courses were creative, well prepared and good portions for lunch. (tasty too). Although the place can get noisy, we were able to carry on conversations easily."
