Diner Reviews
  • "We've been in the land park area for about a year and this was our first time at Taylors. We were not disappointed! We haven't had that much flavor in our food in a long time - and we partake out enough to know. The pork belly app was divine and seasonal entrees incredible. We can't wait to go back to indulge more in the wine list paired with the cheeses of the day (cheeseboard). Well worth the price. "

  • "It was surprising that we received a sparkling drinks for celebrating my girlfriend's birthday. Feel so warm and for sure will go there again. The only thing is not much choices on the menu but foods are good."

  • "Havent been here in a few years but it was just as good as we remembered. I don't normally order chicken when i eat out bc it can be a bit boring but I got the roasted chicken and it was soo delicious, crispy and well seasoned on the outside and super juicy inside. The bartender also made some really good champagne cocktails."

  • "I always feel welcomed when I eat at Taylor's Kitchen. I can count on good food, good wine and good service."

  • "When opened we were regulars...but the menu basically never changed..one pork entrée one fish, one beef one chicken one pasta. The vegetables changed with the seasons. Two salads, two entrees one dessert and corkage fee...$126.00 including tax and tip. The entrées and dessert were very good. The asparagus salad missed. The asparagus had no flavor...par boiled and chilled. Service and staff were excellent. But, it will probably be another two-three years before we return. We live nearby and walk by the restaurant regularly and always check the menu posted outside...."

  • "Had another wonderful experience at Taylors. Inventive menu. They are flexible (I had a larger portion of an appetizer, as an entrée- gnocchi with pork belly, yum). My dining partner's halibut was perfectly cooked. Even my salad was special (butter lettuce, watermelon radishes, other things, with great dressing). We were too full for dessert. Only slight negative was service, which was good but not as great as the food. Our waiter had to be asked, for example, to put our white wine on ice, and struggled to get our salad order straight. Minor issues, though. We will be back!"

  • "A little bit limited on the menu selections but everything offered was excellent. Having said that, we had the asparagus salad but the poached egg that topped it should have been warm. Will definitely go back."

  • "We were a party of six with a wide range of preferences. We shared a couple orders of their amazing beet salad and the very tasty gnocchi. They were so accommodating that they split an order of their delicious clam chowder, so we could all taste it. We ate so much that we worried we wouldn't have room for our main courses. Three prime ribeyes, seasoned and cooked to perfection, two vegetarian pastas, and one veal chop. We loved it all, but saved room for dessert. We shared the warm chocolate cake, the strawberry rhubarb tart and two orders of creme brulee´. Loved the food, loved the service, and we love the setting! Taylor's Kitchen made my brother's birthday celebration a memorable one!"

  • "You have to be a meat lover to really enjoy this restaurant. But than the screeching toddler, the restaurant was quite nice."

  • "I stopped by for another adventure at Taylors. After a warm welcome by the staff, I asked the Chef to select two courses and off we went! The first, a delicious winter salad with seasonal vegetables over a fig dressing was paired with a crisp white wine. Next, I enjoyed Salmon filet, which although farm raised in Chili, is part of a sustainable food program through Monterrey Bay Aquarium. Chef Telford delivered it perfectly cooked with the kind of firm meat usually only seen in wild caught salmon and a Chardonnay from Santa Lucia Highlands rounded it out. The dessert was a luscious berry panna cotta. Everything about this place is special and its a must visit for Sacramento foodies!"

  • "Food is good and not your usual fare. We think our wait person forgot to put in our order - we ordered three pasta dishes and one scallop entree so it shouldn't take 45 minutes after our salad to prepare. Many other tables seated after us were served ahead of us. Right before the food arrived He apologized for the delay, and asked if we wanted another glass of wine but didn't offer to comp it. Very disappointed with the service but the food was very good. Two hours after we arrived, we left, without having dessert"

  • "Our dinnner's (Day Boat Scalaps) were absolutely terrific to the last morsel! Scalaps seared perfectly, very tender, excellent presentation."

  • "My husband and I found the food at Taylor's as hit and miss. I had veal T-bone and it was fine. However, my husband's pork chop was dried and very small in portion comparing to our prior visit. To spend almost $200 (that's including a bottle of wine and two appetizers), one would expect the dinner to be exceptional but it wasn't as enjoyable as our last visit."

  • "Got a Gift Certificate for Xmas from my son and took my Wife the day after Valentines Day. Date Nite after watching the grandkid the nite before. Heard so many good things about Taylors and did not Disappoint. My wife and I will be going back and hopefully with some friends for the Experience."

  • "While "neighborhood gem" best describes this small restaurant in the Curtis Park area, we gladly travel 40 minutes from our neighborhood for the excellent food and service. On top of that is the great ambience and reasonable pricing. Try it, you'll like it!"

  • "My first time at this restaurant. It was my birthday and I requested their best table for 2 on the reservation. I was a bit disappointed with the table. It seemed isolated and near a chilly window, but the place was about full. I was really looking forward to a steak, particularly their ribeye or porterhouse. Neither were available, though they were on the online menu. Had to settle for a New York. It turned out to be fairly tough with a good amount of grissle, though I ordered it rare. The rest of the meal was great. Especially the dessert, a creme brule with coffee means. The Zinfindel wine was outstanding.. Our waiter provided excellent service with a cheerful attitude. I would definitely give this restaurant another try."

  • "I'd heard many nice things about Taylor's Kitchen from locals and finally experienced it tonight. I ordered 3 courses "Chef's choice" with wine pairings. Each was delicious and artfully presented. Standouts were the Veal Sweetbreads - some of the best I've ever tasted and the pasta with Braised Rabbit. The dessert, cheesecake, was exceptional and a perfect ending to a very memorable dinner. The wine pairings were spot on, and reflected the in depth knowledge of the Manager/Wine Director, Keith Fergel. I sat at the Chef's Counter and watched Chef Telford work his magic. Taylor's offers some of the finest cuisine in Sacramento, presented in a fun and unpretentious atmosphere. I'd highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Service and food were great. We went during "Bacon-Fest" and ate their "Bacon-Fest" special, which was fantastic. Everything was top-notch."

  • "Overall everything was good. The sweetbreads were delicious and the pork chop was amazing. We also ordered the bacon 3-course meal. It was good but not outstanding. The bacon in the last dish was really good but i didn't like the mixture of gnocchi and shaved brussel sprouts. Take out the gnocchi and it would have made a good salad, or take out the brussel sprouts and simply leave the bacon and gnocchi with some olive oil and parmesan. I just didn't like the texture issues between the soft gnocchi and lots of crunchy brussel sprout. Dessert was redeeming, the lemon tart was delicious. We love this place and of course will come again, you can't hit a home run every time and I'm sure others disagree with me and loved the dish"

  • "Don't let it's location on Freeport fool you. This is a 5 star place. The food is superb and the service is excellent. I had a rib eye steak and it melted in my mouth. The osso bucco was also great. A full bar would be welcome ."

  • "Fabulous dinner though one of us was vegetarian. Food exceptionally well prepared and delicious, including the vegetarian main dish which often is an after thought. The kale salad was exquisite as was the gnocchi appetizer. Taylor's Kitchen will become a regular for me, and that is something I rarely say. My guest was from DC and she loved it."

  • "In our party of four, we had three vegetarians and one meat lover. In addition, my husband is diabetic, so we have to choose places pretty carefully in order to find places that can meet our fairly complicated needs. The service and food at Taylor's were exceptional. Our waitress asked great questions about what we needed, but never seemed annoyed. Everything we ordered was amazing, including an eggnog creme brûlée that I have thought about every day since. The place is small, but we had a great table in the corner and we could hear one another easily. Can't wait to go back and would recommend it in a heartbeat."

  • "Taylor's is a charming little neighborhood restaurant. It is one big room, so the noise level is high. For me though, the menu is so limited, I would not go back very often. I had the burger for dinner for lack of anything else that appealed to me. The burger was very good-it was served with fries which were okay. My husband had the steak which was excellent, but it did not come with much except veggies and some item he was unable to identify and did not like. Our other friends have visited the restaurant often and love it. I would say go and eat here, just go online first and see what they are serving that day to make sure there is something on the menu you would like."

  • "The staff was friendly and the food was excellent. Had a pork chop at Ella's and the pork chop at Taylors Kitchen was better. The dry aged rib eye was also excellent. We highly recommend Taylor's Kitchen."

  • "Want to tantalize your senses? How about go back into the kitchen and see how each step is prepared? Would you like to see the dish set up right before your table? The Kitchen brings these experinces and so much more. It more expensive than most places because you get more. You will not regret your experience here."

  • "The food at Taylor's is consistently outstanding. Since we live in the neighborhood we go to Taylor's frequently. Parking is easy. The employees are professional and nice. The menu is various enough to meet any diner's preference. We especially like to order the specials. Great flavors that surprise us. We love this quaint neighborhood restaurant. If you have never been you've gotta go. Even if it's appetizers and a glass of wine. You will enjoy!"

  • "I ate at Taylor's Kitchen when it first opened a few years back but for some reason did not get back there until this weekend. I went for dinner with friends before a play. The dining room is elegant but relaxed. We had a reservation and were promptly seated. The specials were well described and our drink order was taken. That gave us some time to check out the menu which is fairly brief but all of the dishes were very adequately described. My two friends had the pasta dish which they raved about. I had the beet salad with smoked trout which is absolutely the best beet salad I've ever had. All of the food is obviously fresh and prepared with great care. I will definitely be back! This is one not to be missed!"

  • "The smoked trout & beet salad was amazing. I tried the ahi tuna (first time I've ever had ahi tuna), and my husband had the lamb shank. We were both pleased, but will probably stick to the pork chop in the future, as it is the perfect meal. :)"

  • "The bread had us hooked even before our dinners arrived. The menu is short, but if our two choices are any indication, every entree is a gem. The salad was a delight unto itself. Our only complaint is that the tables for two are so close together that it's as though you're sitting with your neighbors; this really limits intimate conversation."

  • "We had a fantastic meal, a great server, and a very nice bottle of wine. The wine was not anything we normally would have ordered, but our server recommended it, and it was perfect for our meal. Great experience overall."

  • "Read the online reviews and decided to give this eatery a try. Was not disappointed. From start to finish, there were many good things. Excellent bread, fresh, warm, crusty with sweet butter. For appetizers, we ordered beets salad with smoked trout and celery root (excellent) and cream of cauliflower with bacon & porcini mushrooms (tasty). For entrees, we ordered scallops and pan roasted chicken, both very good. For dessert, we ordered chocolate cake & ice cream with coffee, both excellent. Service throughout was smooth and pleasant. For 3 people, paid $130 with wine. We'd happily return for more visits."

  • "Richard and Bob and Keith and the rest of the staff do a fabulous job of making any meal we have had at Taylor's wonderful. I celebrated my 50th birthday dinner with a small group of friends at Taylor's kitchen. The menu was made for just our group. Each course was beautifully created and paired with the wines we had brought from our "stash". I felt like a queen!"
