  • "Have been to this restaurant four times now and the food is good but hasn't yet been great. This time I ordered scallops. They were very good but I didn't like the pairing with mashed sweet potatoes . they just didn't mesh well. Also strangely served in a bowl for some reason. Made it harder to eat. I will go back and try so. E other dishes and can always fall back on the prime rib which is very good. Still, it wouldn't take much of an effort to improve the shortcomings and I wonder why they don't. There are many good chefs in key west. Find one who is better and hire him or her."

  • "We've lived in Key West over 3 years but this was our first trip to Tavern and Town. We were not disappointed. The staff from the hostess, manager(?), server, assistant waiter/bus staff were all very friendly. The kitchen is open to the restaurant and it smelled heavenly when we walked in! This is a great place for larger parties with plenty of large tables. Both my husband and I got the filet mignon/short ribs. The portion was just right - a little too much for me (but my husband didn't leave anything behind). We also tried the banana croissant chocolate bread pudding with vanilla ice cream (great suggestion by our server to add ice cream) - Yum! And the homemade ice cream was delicious also. We will definitely be going back."

The place was beautiful, menu had a good variety of options, and the food was tasty. I was surprised how long it took for the food to come out considering it was not crowded at all. I am concerned about how long things might take if it were busier. I would be inclined to go back but for Happy Hour as I understand they have half price entrees and decent drink selection."

Everyone loved there food and the wine our server, the amazing Roy, suggested was superb. Recommend this place for couples, groups, families, and pretty much anyone who loves a good meal!"

  • "I dined here with my son and daughter. The wine list is expansive, and the food was very good, except for the special fish, which was very plain. Our server was terrific. The two complaints I would have are that small children from the next table were running around and kept squeezing past my chair, which was annoying. Also, the bar area is not separated from the dining room. Two couples at the bar were very loud and that took away from the pleasant dining experience. There were two singers in the bar, but we could barely hear them over the other noise. It was mostly a pleasant experience, but could have been better."

My only negative feeling arose from the noise level in the dining room- we had a hard time talking.   • "As a retired executive of an international Fortune 50 company, I have traveled at least 25% of the time for the last 35 years, and continued the practice in my retirement. I originally booked this restaurant hoping for a good view of a Key West sunset, however I learned that the restaurant had no views. Tired from a very active day, I opted to eat there anyway, and was very pleased that I had. I ordered one of my favorites, prime rib of beef. The dinner was excellent, and an unexpected benefit from eating there was a complementary breakfast buffet the following morning. The breakfast was excellent, with a custom omelette station, fresh fruit including blackberries and tropical fruits, an excellent bacon, and sausages."

  • "Salad with goat cheese was wonderful and a large portion is provided. The staff was very accommodating and allowed me to swap out the horseradish with a Cabernet demi glace for my Filet Mignon. Traffic and parking can be problematic due to major road construction in the area. However, you can take their shuttle from downtown Key West. The shuttle departs from 500 Duval Street every hour on the 20."

The service was attentive but not over-bearing and the food was well prepared and presented. This is a wonderful place to have a fine-dining experience in contrast to beach food downtown.   • "My husband and I dined here for a romantic, childless evening. We were greeted warmly and well taken care of. We came in during happy hour, so drinks were basically buy one, get one. I ordered the filet and short rib plate, my husband got the pork chop. The food came out hot and delicious. I cannot say enough about the braised short ribs. They were so good! Those along with the potato puree, were the best items on my plate. For dessert, my husband had the bread pudding and I got the flourless chocolate cake with peanut butter ice cream. Both outstanding. We are local, and will definitely be back in soon."

  • "Tavern 'N Town probably has among the best, classic roast beef in Key West. Unfortunately, the vegetables that accompany are fresh out of the warmer, not cooked to order, which makes the mashed potatoes luke warm and doughy, the asparagus was pretty tasteless. The Caesar salad is quite tasty and one is certainly more than enough to split. Homemade ice cream was a nice way to end the meal. Unless you really enjoy sitting by the nightly piano player, I'd recommend a booth in the dining room that's further away from the piano, which can get pretty loud when you're in the middle of dinner. A pleasant evening out, but there are plenty of better restaurants in Key West."

  • "My fiancée have dined here frequently in the past year, and we have a fantastic experience everytime. All of the menu items we have tried have been outstanding, but we especially enjoy the prime rib and pistachio crusted black grouper. The prices are very reasonable by Key West standards. I recommend going early (6:00) and taking advantage of their 2-4-1 happy hour and $19.99 entrée special. I don't know any other place in town where you can have 2 glasses of wine and a steak for less than $30, and still enjoy a beautiful dining room and suburb service. Also, save room for dessert!"

  • "We read about Tavern and Town and decided to try it. An open kitchen is always a draw for us. The food was delicious and presented artistically. We had swordfish and prime rib. Salads were fabulous and large. Waitstaff friendly and attentive. Piano music in background lovely. Our table was near the kitchen and we enjoyed watching the elegant dinners being prepared. We highly recommend this restaurant!"

  • "My wife an I go here often, and have to say with the addition of Restaurant Manager Dave Talpasz, to Chef Montoya's team, they have taken what Chef Norman Van Akin thought he could do, and surpassed it. The offerings are second to none in Key West. I'd much rather ride out to Tavern N Town than bike to Michaels, Antonia's, or La Trot. The service is also quite nice. We were able to order from the new menu that just changed for the season, and were pleasantly surprised with Chef's Montoya's changes. They also have a nice wine list with several gems. I enjoy craft beers and was happy to see several on draft. What ever you do don't sell this one short because it's attached to a hotel. Try it and you'll not be disappointed."

The management often checks in on you and the service staff is very attentive but I have never been served by a better person than Ghanna! She makes your experience incredible.
