  • "Great restaurant. Great service. We went on a rainy night and sat inside. Drinks were delicious. The tuna appetizer with watermelon was great. My scallops were as good as I have ever had. My wife's lamb meatballs unfortunately were just gross. And I love lamb. They were served basically at room temp; they did not taste that great, and the sauce they were served in requires a more sophisticated palate than mine. The dessert with sweet corn ice cream was fantastic. So avoid the lamb meatballs when going to this great place."

When we asked for a recommendation from the person who delivered our drinks, it ended up being a manger and he gave great suggestions. The cocktails were flavorful and unique, the cheese board perfectly paired, and our entrees were well cooked, executed perfectly, and bursting with flavor. Our waitress was patient while we were choosing, though still attentive, and service was fantastic."

Talula's Garden breaks the mold of what people assume food will be like in Philly. I've never dined here before and it was a risk, especially given we'd just come off eating in New York City at Gramercy Park Hotel's Maliano's -- an amazing restaurant. Talula's didn't disappoint. The food was fresh, delicious and although the service was slow to start, it picked up and got much better. Wine was fabulous and we dined for hours enjoying all aspects of the place. Don't worry if you don't get seated in the garden too. It doesn't matter. The inside is fab as well."

Only caveat is that the food and drinks are a bit pricey so would consider dining here for special occasions.   • "Food was great! The service by our waiter was the worst I've had in a long time. He told us he was training, but no one was helping him. My husband wanted to order a side and the waiter talked him out of it. He told him it would be too much food to eat. It was cucumbers! When he finished his drink, instead of asking if he'd like another, he just silently picked up the empty glass and left! I had to flag him down to order a glass of wine. Took 15 minutes to get. He barely spoke to us. Just dropped the dessert menus down on our table without asking if we even wanted dessert. Never even asked if we wanted coffee or anything! We saw a table get seated after us ut leave before we got our entree! I probably won't be back soon."

  • "After a disastrous meal at City Tavern we were skeptical of rankings of restaurants however Talula's Garden was a delight and surpassed its ranking. The service was impeccable, the beer selection perfect (Lost Abbey) and the food the freshest and most beautifully presented. Our special requests of dressings on the side were honored, the warm complimentary brioche were delightful and my only wish would have been a more simple dessert selection. Gelato with chocolate sauce and a cookie would have made a perfect ending. The chicken under the brick was delectable, the pork belly was rich and decadent, moist with a crispy skin. The beets and ricotta were memorable. Thank you Talula for a fabulous meal."

  • "The lights and the flower boxes make Talula's Garden my favorite outdoor dining spot in all of Philadelphia. Unfortunately on a recent visit, the food was very disappointing. We started with the mushroom soup which was unbearably salty, and a salad with far too much dressing. I opted for the chicken entree which was well presented, but the caper sauce was also excessively salty. The friendly service and ambiance at this restaurant are exceptional so I would like to give it another try."

I'm a little disappointed that I had requested an outdoor table in my OpenTable reservation and they were unable to accommodate me. I think the outdoor area would have really put the experience over the top."

Waiters don't have room to stand next to the table without bumbing into you, your unavoidably overhearing strangers conversations. If felt like an overpriced diner bacause of the seating experience. It's not worth the extra revenue to pack people like sardines into tiny tables."

  • "My daughter and I went there pre-theater and were so pleased! The service was attentive and knowledgable. She recommended a PA blush wine that was dry and wonderful - who knew? Salads were fresh and crisp. Zucchini and summer squash salad was unusual and a real treat! My daughter had Chicken Under a Brick, which was so tender and flavorful. Foie Gras mousse was incredible as my entree! Overall, just a wonderful experience!"

Now, let's talk food...It was so fresh and delicious, I couldn't get enough. I had their hand made pasta, which was to die for.I had a Pinot Gris (A to Z, white whine)which was fabulous. The cherry on the cake was the AMAZEBALLS sticky bun for dessert. You MUST have it!! Definitely a place I would go back to,if I lived in Philly!"

  • "I love Talula's, live in the neighborhood and am a frequent patron. On this evening however, service kind of stunk; slow start to finish.They asked what kind of water we wanted and then it took 15 minutes before they filled our glasses with tap. Long lulls between courses and finished course plates sat waiting to be cleared way too long. Not sure why everything was off....for a steamy Monday, patio was pretty full, so maybe they had more guests thank expected outside and were under staffed. Food great...loved to charred string beans. I also feel wines by the glass are a pretty short pour."

We had to get up and re-feed the meter while we waited for our food. We were celebrating my wife's birthday, which I had specifically noted at the time I made the reservation. The wait staff failed to recognize the special occasion. Overall, not a great experience for our first time dining at Talula's Garden."
