Diner Reviews
  • "It was an amazing experience in every way! Great space (got a bit noisy after 9 tho) and service. Honestly one of the best meals I've ever had- i'd put it on par in terms of flavor and creativity with john besch's August (table is a bit less formal which we liked as we'd had a very long day!) Soooo glad we tried it- and will be back!!"

  • "Highly recommended. Love the ipad in the bar featuring the Cocktail list. Upstairs is the restaurant - well done and very stylish and elegant. Service was great even though our server was new, she was so nice and really attentive. Would definitely recommend and I will definitely be back!"

  • "Great food and great service. We'll be back! Love the atmosphere too!"

  • "I enjoyed my salad but there was very little lettuce in it, although it had advertised bibb lettuce. The burrata flatbread was fantastic. Our service was pleasant and professional."

  • "The menu has a nice variety of specialty cocktails and standard American fare. We tried sampling of 4 different cocktails; each was tasty and refreshing. I had a great Cobb salad and my tablemates each had a seafood dish. Portions was perfectly sized. The Croignets (combination of croissant and beignet) were an awesome dessert to end the meal."

  • "Food was alright but not wonderful and on the expensive side. Waiter was very pleasant."

  • "Good location, good food, service on a Monday night was awful. Sat for at least 15 minutes before we got a drink. Had to flag down waiters every time we needed something. Will not return."

  • "Excellent presentation of meals, unique flavors, and overall wonderful dining experience. A little too noisy for my parents to hear conversation, but otherwise would go back again for a special occasion meal."

  • "Had my bday dinner here and everything was great starting from the valet, to the hostess, to the bar, and to the table!"

  • "We celebrated my daughter's birthday with lunch at Table . We enjoyed a great lunch while looking from our booth out to Post Oak Lane and the gently falling rain . The flatbread appetizer of tomato and burrata was delicious as was my beet salad . My daughter ordered the fish special which she loved and then the restaurant brought a yummy celebratory chocolate dessert ! We would definitely go back to Table again !"

  • "We went based on the recommendation of friends, but were frankly a little disappointed. The food wasn't bad, but it certainly wasn't that great. My wife started with the baked oysters, which she said were only "okay". My starter was the golden beet salad, about which I had no complaints other than the fact that it could have used a few more slices of beets. Her entree was the osso bucco, which she said (without enthusiasm) was good. I had the halibut, which initially was inedible because of a far-too-salty topping on the fish. Once I scraped the topping off, the fish was rather tasteless; the quinoa served with it was at room temperature. Plating is beautiful in everything they do. I doubt we'll return any time soon."

  • "Was surprised to learn of Philippe's closure since it was my favorite restaurant in Houston (total experience basis), and apprehensive of Table after mixed reviews on other sites. From our experience, the evening was close to perfect. There were some little things, but nothing that altered our overall experience. We were seated promptly, the restaurant had plenty of energy (along with the bar downstairs), and the waiter arrived quickly. Food was outstanding, and very creative. Crab in ponzu sauce, beet and goat cheese salad, and tuna carpaccio were our appetizers. Duck, red snapper, and the evening special of guinea hen our entrees. Desserts were equally excellent (esp avocado lime cheesecake and green tea pannacotta). Highly recommended"

  • "Downstairs seems to be a great location for happy hour or birthday cocktails. One is also greeted once upstairs. For some reason, I didn't want to eat this lunch at the bar. The bar is usually easier for a party of one, which I quite often am. The Ponzu Crab was cold, but great. It's intended to be served cold, which I sometimes avoid, but I've been challenging myself to step out of some comfort zones. It was good, even the peppers were interesting. I moved to the tuna flat bread. I just felt like a bit of citrus was lacking. I tried to squeeze the lemon and lime slices that were atop the tuna; however, that didn't yield too much. The capers aided in seasoning, but overall, it was good."

  • "Our waitress Johanna was excellent. She really knew the menu and everything she recommended we tried and loved even the wine."

  • "Fabulous flavors!! Highly recommended. Book early and do not try to add any extra guests. It's ashame that we could not even add 1 more guest to our table without it becoming a problem of moving the reservation up 2-5 hrs. It should be more accommodating than that. Unless it's just not having experienced scheduler's??"

  • "A big improvement over Phillipe. Same location & apparentlty same ownership, but new chef & philosophy. We really liked it. Food is delicious. Atmosphere is less fancy, more open."

  • "The waiter was knowledgeable about the dishes and wine. He was very helpful and attentive. The food came out hot and the presentation was very nice. Overall we had a really nice time and plan to go back and try more of the selections."

  • "Great food, but the noise level on a week end night can make it difficult to carry on a conversation. Limited choice of wines by the glass."

  • "Will come back. Your wine list is reasonable and not marked up so much like Americas etc. This type of business model should work like other successful restaurants such as Ibiza, underbelly."
    Dined on 6/27/2014
  • "Special appetizer was good, but entrees were bland and overpriced. Service was pushy."

  • "Extensive use of capers and kalamata olives kill flavor of main ingredient of the dish, i.e grill octopus. Quail was offered but later said they did not have it, to end of offering cornish hen...essentially chicken! Tuna flat bread...would benefit from less of the sauce cream bed in order to taste more the tuna"

  • "Phillipe has passed on. Amiable service, but not polished. Nice, affordable wine list. Variable quality of the food. Bland and mushy octopus appetizer. Nice scallop entrée."

  • "We celebrated a friend's birthday lunch at Table. Our waiter was excellent and made us feel at ease with our 'sharings' and even divided all the dishes in the kitchen. The food was very tasty and artfully plated. Then they gave us a lovely complimentary 'special' birthday dessert and helped us take pictures. A very pleasant experience and we wish them every success. We will be back."

  • "Loved the sky view from 2nd floor interesting wine list. Not any we recognized but good price ranges Excellent rib eye and rosemary fries. We will return."

  • "We were a party of six. With the exception of one appetizer, the food was disappointing. The halibut was charred and dry. We felt extremely rushed. I asked the waiter to let us start with cocktails and come back later for the appetizer order, then after that come back for the entree order as we were celebrating a birthday and wanted to enjoy a leisurely evening. He came to the table repeatedly and often. He did not give us time to get started on the cocktails until he was asking about starters. He did not give us time to start on the appetizer until he was asking about entrees. We finally gave up, ate and left. We finished our evening together at home. They were busy, so perhaps they needed the table. In any event we won't return."

  • "The ambiance is nice. We sat in a booth along the windows. Our server, Tyler, was very friendly and helpful. We shared the ponzu crab and ended up slurping up the sauce with our bread. I had the salmon. It was delicious but I'd recommend a crispier, thinner wrap to be in line with the menu description. My husband had the hand made ravioli - it looked like summer on a plate. Gorgeous. My son had the burger and parmesan fries. Chef sent out a lovely chocolatey concoction gratis as we were celebrating a milestone. The only snafu - it took awhile to catch someone's eye to order some wine. It arrived as I was finishing my main course. But we'll be back for the tuna carpaccio and the halibut."

  • "I came here for my birthday with a group of 10 and our experience was fantastic. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious! and the were able to split out checks which is always a plus when going with big groups. Can' wait to go back and try more items on the menu!"

  • "I was interested to try the former Philippe. The décor has not changed. The food wasn't bad, but it was nothing special. I had the chicken and it was nicely prepared and served with some cute little vegetables, but no interesting flavors. One of my guests enjoyed the gazpacho, which somewhat surprisingly included cheese and eggs. While they said they liked the hamburger and bbq sandwich, neither cleaned their plates, and there wasn't a lot of enthusiasm. But we all agreed the rosemary parmesan fries were excellent! The waiter was also charming and had very good descriptions of the menu items."

  • "The food was incredible - however, I wasn't able to fully enjoy everything as the noise level was outrageous. The downstairs bar was nice and quiet and the upstairs dining room was as loud as a concert. They need to do something about the acoustics."

  • "We were very happy with our meal. Service was attentive, menu varied, prices good. Will be back. Had the lamb lasagna. Was a delicious take on a standby dish. Fun cocktail list."

  • "Went there for a birthday celebration and Chef Manuel took very good care of us. He prepared a tasting menu of 5 signature dished: Started with the tuna carpaccio(heavenly), Ponzu crab(so good), beautifully plated beet salad, scallops(amazing), Brick chicken and ended with the Duck breast (both tender and delish). Our server Ed was personable and a delight."

  • "I saw a write-up on this place from My Table and thought it would be great for a birthday dinner. Even though I made a reservation for 7:30, we were told there was a 20 minute wait when we arrived. That was disappointing. When we were finally seated, the restaurant was pretty lively and had a nice decor. The cocktail menu and food were delish! We all loved what we ordered. They brought out a special dessert with a candle for me, which was a nice touch. Great time and great food! Wait staff was very attentive and helpful. Will be back!"

  • "Excellent decor & wait staff. Was going to order the halibut but was intrigued by the bacon cheeseburger. Our waiter, Matthew recommended it even though it was less than half the price. My take...try the cheeseburger...it was great!"

  • "Outstanding in every way. Presentation, quality, portions, taste!! We are seasoned diners and have eaten in some of the better restaurants around the world and have covered Houston pretty thoroughly and consider Table to be at the top of our list! Certainly in H-town. Interesting and tasty signature cocktails. The crab and the tuna appetizers were truly outstanding as was the salmon. Cant wait to return........"

  • "yes, it was that good! Arrived promptly set at a booth, nice wine list on I pad which kept the selection at my price point time to a minimum time. the Ordered Crab Ponzu ( 1 of a kind) and Beet salad, had the Duck that you must eat with the broth and the orchetta pasta (wife vegetarian). Chocolate brulee with heat and crunch for desert. The service was outstanding, platting beautiful with the attention to detail and color with small mushrooms tied in an erect bundle with a bow for example. WE EAT at the BEST restaurants wherever we go and this dining Experience was as GOOD AS IT GETS! "

  • "Dined recently at Table with friends; enjoyed interesting cocktails and appetizers (ponzu crab was quite good; as was grilled octopus; baked oysters were very tasty, but so tiny!) Dinner entrees included halibut, duck and red snapper. While all were delicious, the winner hands down was the red snapper. All the dishes were plated beautifully. The kitchen is doing everything right here! However, the service was not up to the kitchen's standards. Our server had to be hailed several times. It appeared she had too many tables. Also, the acoustics are such that you cannot have a conversation without raising your voice. I'd recommend Table for the food alone, but the overall dining experience doesn't do the kitchen justice."
