  • "Business dinner with business friends. It was their first time, but we've been there a few times. I was blown away by the presentation of what I ordered: Goat cheese lettuce wraps--delicious and plated was a work of art. I also had the Exotic Tuna Tartare. I was a little skeptical by the description but it was delicious with a stellar over-the-top presentation. I was so amazed at my food that I hardly noticed what the rest of the table ordered except for sharing a bite of the avocado crab appetizer that was mouth-watering. Service was top notch. We enjoyed some wonderful wines. Dessert was good but didn't match the level of the rest of dinner. Overall an amazing experience. I highly recommend it."

  • "This was my first visit to Phillipe and it did not disappoint. Everything from the moment we arrived was great - they knew my name upon walking in the door, we were seated right away, the service was great and the food was delicious. This was a Christmas Eve meal for myself and my parents who are not foodies. However, the food here was great, but not pretentious, so they also enjoyed everything and cleaned their plates. We had the goat cheese wraps with salad, butternut squash soup, flounder, chicken and filet mignon. We did not go for any dessert as we were full from the first two courses, but there was a large selection and I'm sure it would not have disappointed. Will definitely be back as I really enjoyed it."

  • "The four of us each had a different entree with different sides, and everything was absolutely delicious, from the perfectly cooked steaks to the oddly inventive desserts. The only thing we were not pleased with was the service, but I think that might have just been our waiter, as other members of the staff were quick to bring us things that were forgotten by our fellow. I would recommend this restaurant to others. It is pricy but worth it."

We were in a group of four people, we all felt like they consistently overpoured three out of four glasses of wine so that a bottle was one round and we were always having to order another bottle when the short pour was finished with her glass. Brought us a different, more expensive bottle each time, claimed to be "out" of what we wanted. Well-engineered scheme to run up a $600 bill."

  • "We were there on a Tuesday night, celebrating a friend's birthday. The restaurant was not crowded at all. The service was wonderful, the food was exquisite. Only caveat, check the fine print on your bill. The entire bill was correct, except for the very last line was said "service charge" and it was an extremely odd amount, I'm talking cents. I called about it, but have yet to hear back as to what that odd charge was, anyhow, it was a wonderful evening overall."

  • "For a restaurant in the Galleria area, and so close to many other upscale restaurants, they lack in distinction. The décor is nice, food is plated attractively but lacks seasoning, noise level is loud even though the restaurant wasn't full. Excellent service! Attentive waiter and staff. Chair seats are too low, so that the table is uncomfortably high. We will not return for dinner nor would we recommend to others unfortunately. The bar seemed fun, the patio was appealing but it was too windy to enjoy."

In fact, this time the CEO of the company had to get up and go search out the waitress. Excellent food & ambiance does NOT make up for deplorable service."

  • "I had the pork chop done medium and it was flavorful and very juicy. The accompanying veggies were great, too. I also had the sherried onion soup which was rich without being too salty. The staff was friendly and courteous and our waiter was helpful in making suggestions. I will definitely go back."

  • "Haven't had dinner there yet, but once again (2nd time here) I was amazed by their economical lunch menu and the amazing service. It is a joy to come here for lunch. It was my husband's first time here and he thought it was great. Would have liked the calamari to be a little crunchier, but the onion soup and the tuna burger--great. My aunt loved the salmon steak! Thank you again!"

  • "This was our first time at this restaurant, adn we enjoyed it ! The food was excellent. The wine and cocktail were perfect. The service was prompt and the server was quite knowledgeable about the food and drinks. The ambience is wonderful as well. I would certainly categorize this as one of the top restaurant in Houston for a dine out with your wife or friends. On the flip side, this is not particularly a kid friendly place. Highly recommended though."

  • "No question the wine list is tops, but so are the prices. It seems the owner follows a policy of "Let's make the profit with the wine'! The selection is very good, but this is not a three star Michelin place. It should make the total experience more exciting by a more moderately wine selection and prices."

  • "I live close by and have been to Philippe a dozen or so times. Initially I was pleased witht he restaurant but the lat couple times I went last year were average so a little disappointing. I tried again this week and the menu had changed and the changes were good with more seafood options plus others. I got the Acorn squash soup, Mesclun salad and halibut. All three were excellent! We had an early dinner so the place was very empty. Service was perfect and of course it was quiet. So, this time they stepped it up. I plan to go back."

  • "We went there for our anniversary dinner. The receptionist seated us wished us a happy anniversary by name. The waiter explained the menus in detail and made several recommendations. We ordered couple cocktails, both good. We tried the grilled calamari, crab cake, onion soup (the best I've had in a long time), pan fried fois gras (so delicious) and wild mushroom ravioli. Followed by blackened red snapper, mac n cheese fries and sweet potatoe gnocchi. All I can say is everything taste so good. The best was that the chef made a custom complimentary dessert, with the word Happy Anniversary written on edge of the plate wtih chocolate sauce. Food was excellent, server attentive and great atmosphere. Will recommend for special occasion!!"

  • "Philippe Restaurant + Lounge was truly an amazing, memorable experience. I wanted to take my girlfriend out for a wonderful, romantic place and Philippe exceeded all expectations. My girlfriend has the Lamb rack + navarin and I enjoyed the Long Island Duo of Duck. Both dishes were imaginative, well portioned, and cooked to perfection. The ambiance was sublime. Our water, Sarah, was quick, friendly, courteous, and attentive. She made the whole meal flow. Food was severed promptly, but you never felt rushed. I highly, very highly, recommend Philippe Restaurant + Lounge,"

  • "The noise level the Friday night was very energetic. Took 1 hour and 10 minutes from the time of the order to receive the first appetizer and 1 more hour to have the main dish and 45 minutes for the dessert. ( party of 6) It was a big party next room , I am not sure it was a kitchen or service problem. The service people were nice I think the restaurant needs to limit the number of clients or increase the staff in the sevice or kitchen . The food was good, but due to the bad service i do not think I will be back."

  • "This is a great lunch place that not many people realize. There is a business lunch menu for $20 but all the a la carte items are also available.The food is consistently good and fresh. I never worry about recommending this to others, especially out of town business colleagues. Love the fact that Chef comes out to greet diners. It's such a treat especially in the Houston restaurant scene where half the restaurants are chains and the other half are owned by big restaurant groups."

  • "I had been here before for drinks and apps so I decided to try them out for dinner. Everything was good, the decor and all was very nice and my style. Food was about what I expected so no disappointment there. Had a slight language barrier with our waiter due to his heavy accent, but he did a good job. The chef/owner came to our table after our meal, which is always a plus and says a lot about his character. We will definitely go back in the near future."

When we commented to the waiter about the quality of the food, Philippe came to our table to thank us. Can't say enough good things; my only regret is that we didn't find this sooner. We'll be back."
