Diner Reviews
  • "Food came out REALLY FAST for an extremely busy night."

  • "Great Cobb Salad. Would love to try other items during my next visit."

  • "I recently dined here for my sisters birthday and I had a terrible experience. I ordered my entree and I specifically told the waitress to please not add butter on my entree and it came out with butter all over. I asked her to take it back and I did not want it and she still charged me for it. When it was time for dessert I ordered the cookie dough and it came out like it was water. Absolutely no taste. I ordered another one thinking maybe this one would be better and it was just as bad. Very disappointing. I also had to tell the bus boys to clear our plates after appetizers and after dinner because our waitress did not have the common sense to tell them. It was disgusting to have all those plates lying around."

  • "Great location on Michigan Ave with decent prices for the loop. Ton of delicious beer on tap. Definitely need to try the Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. It was fantastic!!! Service was exceptional with very little wait for anything. Dine with confidence!!!"

  • "The food was great. I had a hard time making a selection because there were so many different choices. Finally settled on the BAM BAM shrimp and was not disappointed. The wait staff was friendly and very knowledgeable on the wine and beer list. We had a great time celebrating the Leo birthdays at our table."

  • "I had the pan seared tilapia with sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes. It has always been one of my favorite items on the menu. Although, they made a change to the dish recently and now the tilapia is coated with parmiggiano and fried. It used to really be pan seared tilapia without the coating. But, it still tastes good, it's just less healthy now. Not that the mashed potatoes are healthy, but it's even less so now. My server was pretty MIA even though the restaurant wasn't very full. I was by myself and was a low key patron so, it wasn't a big deal."

  • "Very accommodating for our group of 24. Raul was a great waiter that made it a great night."

  • "Chicken Truffle Salad Sandwich had a smokey flavor that really worked with the bun. Perfectly cooked Filet Mignon Trios sat atop perfectly mashed potatoes stuffed with bleu cheese - tart and creamy."

  • "Overall, this is a great place to conduct lunch meetings and is awesome for sporting events. I feel that it is one of the best sports bars downtown."
    Dined on 6/17/2014
  • "With a reserved tabled, we expected to be seated on time. However, after waiting 15 minutes they tried to seat us in a private dining area with another party. No thanks. Then after another 15 minutes ended up sitting us at the bar. No thanks. Won't be back with a reservation."

  • "Food wasn't quite what was on menu. For instance it noted pureed potatoes, but I just got mashed potatoes. Pork chop was over done."

  • "Good food, but lovely outside dining right on Michigan Ave."
    Dined on 5/27/2014
  • "I really enjoyed the ambience even if it was a little noisy because of Blackhawks nhl finals game. Great service and good burgers!"
    Dined on 5/26/2014
  • "We're visiting and saw this cool restaurant and outdoor patio and stopped. Menu looked great. Lots of casual choices and comfort food. Service was very friendly and consistent. The cheese curds a guilty pleasure. If you are looking for something delicious and casual, this will not disappoint you."
    Dined on 5/25/2014
  • "We had good food and great service. It was typical bar atmosphere, but the outside area was nice."
    Dined on 5/24/2014
  • "Overall the food was good, which was why I gave 1 star. Service was terrible, Katie was our server, service was slow probably bc she was to busy talking with the rest ofthe staff including the manager rather then keeping an eye on her tables. My mom had asked for ketchup, her response was its right there, u need more then that (with attitude) im sorry but when someone asks for somethin. You should lose the attitude, after our experience we then realized why it wasnt busy, but for some reason the only reservation available was 9pm ans we got in no problem at 8pm bc the place was dead!!! Im not sure we'd b coming back here when we visit chicago again which is quit often. "

  • ""Energetic" choice of Noise Level category is a euphemism for very loud; diner's voices and celebrations echo throughout and perhaps the interior space could benefit from fabric or other noise calmers to somehow help absorb much of the very bouncing, almost interrupting nature of noise reverberation. At times this made it difficult to conduct a regular conversation at our table without also being super loud. Food was good and we were greeted nicely; service also good. "

  • "Good place to watch your game. Food is good. Gluten free menu."
    Dined on 4/21/2014
  • "We had a great time watching the hawks and eating delicious food. Been here many times and will always come back! Service was fast and our drinks did not stay empty for very long."
    Dined on 4/17/2014
  • "The restaurant was WAY too loud! We couldn't even hear each other. The service was fast but not especially friendly. I would not go back."
    Dined on 4/11/2014
  • "We were here for lunch, and really enjoyed it. I had a great veggie burger and my friend had a salad. No complaints! Nice ambiance."

  • "Been here for lunch and happy hour multiple times and it's always good food and nice service. Sat down for happy hour and ordered a couple appetizers and drinks for a few hours. Never rushed and just had a nice time. "

  • "The food was good, had a burger, fish tacos and The Boss steak sandwich. All were tasty and the drinks were good as well as the server was attentive. Had all the tv's needed to watch March Maddness."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "nice varied menu but everything is pretty ordinary--especially the fries that are included with each sandwich. If you ant to get a beer it is fine..but in that neighborhood there are bars with better food and just as good a vibe."
    Dined on 3/26/2014
  • "Made a very last minute reservation (8:15pm reservation made at 7:55pm) and was seated promptly. Service was efficient, and the food was good. Cheese curds were tasty, my burger was great, and my friend polished off her roast beef entirely. very good! I've also been for brunch, and the beignets are delicious."

  • "In Chicago on business and dining alone....during March Madness. There was an animated bar scene. The service was prompt and the fish was wonderful! When staying in this area of Chicago, I will be back!"
    Dined on 3/23/2014
  • "Our server (Chris) was great. The food is just average. Definitely nothing to write home about. Lots of beer choices."
    Dined on 3/9/2014
  • ". This was the first time we were here since we are from out of town. We could not ask for anything more. The food, service and pricing was exactly what we were looking for. You have a great menu with a lot of selections. We would definitely co back"
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "The restaurant's corner location allows those dining to view the city life on the streets through large windows and table candles. The food was amazing! The beer list is extensive and everyone can surely find something! The staff was great!"
    Dined on 3/7/2014
  • "Recently enjoyed a great dinner after work with an old friend. The service was prompt and attentive - but not overbearing. We both have gluten issues so we were thrilled to see a gluten free menu (be sure and ask - it's separate and not necessarily provided when you sit down). The food took a bit of time to arrive - but, in fairness, it was starting to get busy when we finally ordered. The drink menu was nice. We were both happy to see a nice cider option (no gluten in cider). All in all, a good place to meet up after work. As it gets more crowded, the noise becomes a bit of an issue - but not overbearing."

  • "First time at Sweet Water and I'm already wanting to go back! 3 of 4 people in my group ordered burgers and they were delicious! They were served on an awesome pretzel bun and with tastes fries, both sweet potato and the regular garlic fries. Our service was friendly and timely. Definitely will be grade back for more!"

  • "If you want a nice sports bar I would rate it 10. I could not hear my wife the noise level was so load. The food was OK but not outstanding. As our cab driver said "They must be doing something right they have been in business forever". Just not our cup of tea if you want to relax."
    Dined on 2/6/2014
  • "The food was excellent. Great portion. The waiter did take awhile when we first got there to come to our table. This may be because my friend and I came at different times. However, they could have been a little quicker coming to get our order."

  • "Good food and excellent service. They have a great beer list and the server was knowledgable and adorable. I had the burger on the specials list with arugula, mozz, tomato, balsamic, and fried salami. It was everything I didn't know I wanted on a burger. The garlic fries it came with were a little lackluster, as we're my dining companion's sweet potato fries. The outer walls are mostly glasses windows so it can get a little chilly, but the people watching was great. Lots of TVs in the bar area which isn's my cuppa but for some it my be. Though beer list was excellent, it was a little pricey, but it was to be expected in the heart of the Mag Mile."

  • "I love just about everything about this place. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the beer list is extensive. Casual, yet classy, this is a great stop for food, even later at night, in an otherwise touristy area. It can be crowded, even on a weeknight. Lots of TVs for games, and it always seems like there are tons of locals here."
    Dined on 1/28/2014
  • "Had a great time and was treated well by the staff, even though I was a single diner. The food was fantastic and the beer options were excellent."
    Dined on 1/28/2014
  • "Friendly service and a great looking restaurant! Need to add more vegetarian options to their menu though."
    Dined on 1/22/2014
  • "I had an office party for 10 people and it was perfect - location, cuisine, food, and service. They made my function outstanding. I am still receiving kudos for choosing sweetwater."

  • "Awesome vibe and atmosphere. Food and service were beyond expectations. We are from out of town and had our children with us (age 5, 8, 9). Although, this is not a kid type restaurant, we were all very comfortable bringing them and they actually loved all the energy. We will be back!!!"
