  • "We enjoy the beautiful view when visiting the Grove Park Inn Sunset Terrace. The food, atmosphere and service was first rate."

  • "My wife and I recently visited the Omni Park Grove Inn for an overnight getaway and decided to have dinner at the Sunset View Terrace. The food was absolutely delicious! Shrimp Scampi was excellent - spices were perfect and the shrimp were huge and plentiful! The Rum Spiced Creme Brulee was amazing! Beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Asheville. Overhead heaters helped keep us warm on a rainy night. All-in-all, an excellent experience that we would highly recommend!"

  • "Everything was absolutely perfect! The scenery and view to our excellent server and the food was absolutely terrific! Honestly, it couldn't have been any better. We have already told all of our friends and family to go here when they are in Asheville. We can't wait to take another trip up here and dine in this amazing venue in the near future. Just added a great memory to our vacation! "

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Grove Park Inn in Ashville, SC. The food was perfectly cooked and amazingly tasteful, and the service couldn't have been better. We sat out on the covered veranda overlooking the valley below the and the mountains in the distance. The day was a raw one with rain and wind; however, the veranda was very effectively heated and our experience was delightful. We explored the Inn afterwards, enjoying the walk-in fireplaces and art/gift stores, etc., not to mention the views from the floor to ceiling windows. We can't wait to do it again!!"

  • "I treated my granddaughter to lunch for her 21st birthday. Her sister and her mother (my daughter) were also included. We had a wonderful lunch even though it was a cloudy day. The food and service were outstanding and view awesome even on a cloudy day."

  • "Visited Asheville for my girlfriends birthday. I chose this location for not only the menu, but the scenery as well. We thoroughly enjoyed both. The ribeye was one if the best we've had. The only thing for us was we asked if the sides were large enough for two, as we've experienced in the past. The waitress said she didn't think so. When they arrived, they clearly were and we ordered more than needed. Spent more money than needed. I wouldn't let that deter you from this restaurant. Just know they're large enough for two and very good :)."

  • "We came to visit the sunset terrace for our first anniversary and were blown away by the view. However, our server was not very helpful and didn't talk much or have any recommendations. Also we felt the food was very overpriced for just so-so. The restaurants in town are far superior for overall food experiences. I've heard such wonderful things about this restaurant, but was a little disappointed."

  • "Great view, food was good, service was good. Parking was horrible. We were not staying at the resort, but wanted to check it out by going to this restaurant, and it took us about 15 minutes just to find a parking spot in their cleverly hidden parking garage. Parking attendants were not all the helpful to us as we were trying to make parking. Seating was a little cramped in the restaurant, and prices were a bit high. My "medium" filet was tender, but overcooked (not pink in the middle). I'm not sure I will try this restaurant again."

  • "The food was ok. I say this after having so many other amazing meals in Asheville....the land of plentiful, amazing cuisine. The french onion soup was nothing special, my beet salad was just ok. Husband ordered the trout and I had over cooked scallops (a bit rubbery.) The view is what makes this place so special. Try to get a table near the edge of the terrace otherwise you'll be looking at the view over other tables, and definitely try to get there before dark. It's a bit expensive because the food was just adequate, but watching the sunset over the mountains and then eating by candlelight was very nice."

  • "We kicked off our vacation by having lunch here. Service was great, mentioned it was special occasion when booking and they surprised us with free mmacarons! Stunning view. I ordered the crab cakes, my husband ordered the flank steak. I loved mine, his was OK. They served us fluffy biscuits with a spiced honey butter that was really good, too. Would go back!"

  • "The service, view and food were all very good! However, the server pointed out on the menu that the Salmon was line caught from Scotland. I questioned him further whether it was actually farm raised or line caught; each time he insisted is was wild line caught salmon. I noticed one of the other servers glancing over at me, so I thought I must sound a little snooty. I went on tell the server that I make a point of never eating farm raised fish. But, despite my reservations, I decided to give it a try, because line caught salmon is really amazing! I was SO disappointed when it came out, I could immediately tell by the color that this was Farm-Raised Salmon! It was cooked nicely and was very moist, but beware, it is Farm-Raised! Yuk!!!"

  • "I think MMM MMM Good was a Old Soup Add , it was really better then MMM MM GOOD it was GREAT ! The Terrace just reopen in last Few weeks after winter shut down , and Service and Food has always been very Good there , But they had time over the winter to just Turn it up a few more Notches , I had a Rib Eye Steak that i could had used a table knife to cut , so Good . So if your Coming to Omni Grove Park ( I can't imagine staying anywhere else if your Visiting) or if you live in Beautiful Asheville you want to make Sunset Terrace reservation on Open Table , for that Special night , or just wanting to get out and have a great evening ."

  • "I have been here before and it is probably the best view in Asheville (for a restaurant). I would also say that it is worth the wait to get a table at the edge of the terrace so you don't have to look out over other tables to see the view. With that said, the food was ok for the price, but not great. My bill came it to $100 for a pork chop, shrimp pasta and two beers. That's why I say the food was worth $50 and the view was worth the other $50."

  • "We were a bit unsure if the weather would be too cold, but they have large heaters overhead and blankets you can use. We had a great evening with wonderful food and a beautiful view."

  • "I took my boyfriend to the Sunset Terrace for our 1 year anniversary and it was fabulous! He still cannot get over how great the lamb was and my scallops were perfect. Although a little on the pricey side, it is definitely worth it for the quality of the food!"

  • "This restaurant had a spectacular view of the mountains; however, the hostess tried to seat our party of 4 at the end by a service stand although there were only a few tables filled at the early hour. When we asked for another table, they tried to move us one over farther away from the view :/ All tables in the 1st 2 rows close to the view were 2 seaters. The food was fine but not great. I would go there next time for a glass of wine by the huge rock fireplaces inside and skip dining there."

  • "The Sunset Terrace is ideal, the location is wonderful. The food was very good and the service was also. I will come back everytime I come to Asheville."

  • "We have been to the Sunset Terrace before, we enjoy the gorgeous view of Asheville and the mountains. The food and service has always been fantastic, as it should be for a restaurant in this price range. Then last fall the Omni bought the Grove Park Inn.This time it was a major disappointment. My wife's experience was terrible. Her French Onion soup was served cold and had to be sent back. She ordered the Stuffed eggplant which was served as eggplant covered rather than stuffed. It too was cold and did not appear to have been heated. The Mozzarella was in chunks and not melted, the eggplant was chewy, and the lentils were crunchy, only the mushrooms appeared to have been adequately cooked."

  • "Was quite a stormy afternoon for afternoon dining but the overhead heaters were nice and the view was still decent. Food was great as was the service. I had the scallops and my wife had the Filet. Both excellent. Their cheesecake dessert really was enough for 4 people."

  • "with that lovely view it is a shame the food did not deliver...very mediocre at a high price"

  • "Been here multiple times. It was a bit cold, but the staff is eager to distribute blankets. Food is unbelievable. A must for Asheville."

  • "The restaurant is on the patio, and overlooks Asheville to the west. As a result, if you time your reservation right, you can get a beautiful view of the sunset. The steak was perhaps the best I have ever had, and the service was excellent. I asked if I could sit for a bit between dinner and dessert to write, and they not only let me be, but they gave me a pen and paper to use as well since I had left mine in the car. Granted the restaurant was not packed as it was Wednesday, but still I really appreciated the opportunity to just sit back and enjoy the view and to muse over the wonderful meal I had just had."

  • "The Sunset Terrace is an outdoor venue & we visited on a cloudy, windy day with temperatures in the low 60's. We had a quiet lunch since quite a few visitors to the 2013 National Gingerbread House Competition hosted at the Grove Park Inn opted to eat indoors. The terrace has an unobstructed view of the mountains and the golf course. The Sunset Terrace has large heaters along the roof and clear windscreens on the sides that do not face the mountains. The heaters kept us warm throughout lunch and the staff brought out large Grove Park Inn blankets for those that still felt the chill. I would encourage you to not be intimidated by the weather if you have a chance to have lunch on the Terrace"

  • "My wife and I spent a week in Asheville, saving the Sunset Terrace for our final special meal. It was definitely worth it. Our table was ready, the staff was attentive, and the food was to die for. The steaks were the best we've had in a very long time; the potato baked perfectly, the asparagus delightful, the cocktails perfect, and the wine delicious. While the evening was pretty cold, the sky was clear, the view - both at sunset and into the night - was inspiring. The overhead heaters were adequate; and when my wife asked for a blanket for her legs, it arrived in a matter of minutes."

  • "My first time here. Great views. The food was delicious but they had a few problems getting meat cooked to the proper temperature. Our waitress was wonderful. They have some unique menu items which were just fabulous!"

  • "I am a native but the Grove Park still is one of my favorite spots. Our family birthday celebration on Sunday afternoon was great. The view never ceases to amaze and the atmosphere of understated elegance make the Grove Park a very special gem in Asheville."

  • "My husband and I ate dinner at Sunset Terrace for our anniversary. The view of course can't be beaten. The main courses were outstanding. The desert was good but the proportion of ice cream to apple pie was not optimal, not enough ice cream & too much crust. The service was very good and the ambiance was very nice. The Sunset Terrace was quite expensive. If this had not been such a special occasion we would not have chosen this restaurant as a place to dine. Still it deserves 4 stars."

  • "I took my girlfriend here this weekend. It was a very special occasion, as I was proposing to her later that evening. The scenery was spectacular and breath-taking. The food was excellent. It is pricey, and items are alacarte, but very good. The scenery is stunningly beautiful. The view of the city is amazing. It was a bit cold but the heaters and the blanket were adequate to alleviate the chill."

  • "Me and my husband with our 14 year old daughter enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Grove Park Inn during a recent visit to Asheville. We have nothing but wonderful memories. The experience from the host to our service to the food was beautiful. We ate outside on the huge patio under special heaters that allowed us to sit outside on a chilly night and remain comfortable! Our party enjoyed the crab cake, wedge salad, grilled asparagus, filet and lamb. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. We highly recommend The Grove Park Inn and the Sunset Terrace restaurant!"

  • "The Sunset Terrace at Omni Hotels' grand old dame Grove Park Inn is something to be cherished. The view of Asheville and the surrounding mountains is spectacular. I've also had the pleasure of dining there during a quick summer storm and it was surreal to watch the clouds and rain roll across the vista. This is a traditional steakhouse and the menu is set up as such. Expect exquisite appetizers and entrees along with sides to be shared. Prices reflect the quality of view, service and delectable food. The service is top notch. Very attentive servers will ensure your visit is exactly as you wish."

  • "As a fine dining establishment, we were very disappointed in the food. We were surprised that the restaurant served biscuits as the bread at a fine dining restaurant. The salads were good. One entree was scallops - they were OK - it had a slice of cooked bacon laying across the top of the scallops - the bacon was too sweet. Having biscuits and bacon made us wonder if we were getting breakfast leftovers. My wife ordered the trout with sautéed spinach and potatoes - this dish was flavorless and was sent back to the kitchen. For a replacement order, she received shrimp scampi fettuccini, which was tasty. Dessert was the knife and fork chocolate cake was a large portion, however, the cake was dry and the ice cream was not creamy."

  • "Held a 70th birthday party for my wife and her family on the Sunset Terrace.... Every dish served with excellent, the waiters went out of their way to ensure that everything was handled perfectly. The sunset was pretty much non-existent because of heavy cloud cover but the view across the mountains, both before and after dark, was breathtaking anyway.... Everyone in the party was completely blown away by the experience (and believe me the New Jersey people Never have a nice thing to say about anything so that's quite an accomplishment for the restaurant.) Go - - You'll love it."

• "It was our first visit to Asheville. Quite a chilly night for eating outdoors on the Sunset Terrace, but we braved it. The inn had the heaters cranking and offered blankets (but we did not need them). Dinner was really nice. All the food was great, except the ribeye was a bit disappointing. Otherwise, delish. Like the sharing options. Ben, our waiter, was awesome :) Funny, great service (hope he gets his book published), and Mom and Dad, you should be really proud of him. Sitting amongst those great stones was really cool. I would return even though it was expensive. Thanks"

  • "there are 2 levels. one for dining and one for just drinks and appetizers. we dined. it was a beautiful fall day with all the colors and a view for miles. it was around 55 degrees. there are industrial sized heaters running the length of the terrace. they're mounted in an inconspicuous way so the ambiance hasn't been compromised at all. they don't blow hot air either but simply radiate heat. there were also blankets if we wanted. the menu was varied, the food was exceptional, our waitress friendly and knowledgeable. this is my 2nd visit and I'm already wanting to go back. the hotel is welcoming and encourages folks to wander, sit by the fire, or hang out on the sunset terrace. we weren't guests of the hotel and it didn't matter."
