Diner Reviews
  • "Last year was wonderful. Great ambience, not a bad table in the whole place. We had a noon reservation and were seated and served our bottomless Mimosas immediately. Next time I'll opt for the bloody mary's as the sparkling wine they used had a nose reminiscent of Colt 45. Excellent shrimp, oysters on the half shell, smoked salmon. The king crab could have been fresher. The salad and bread stations were well stocked (try the truffled mac 'n' cheese). I had the eggs benedict (perfectly done, bland hollandaise), pork loin (rubbery) and roast beef (excellent despite being overcooked to medium). Desserts were beautiful but lacked taste. Service was atrocious. Had to track down waitress for coffee AND refills. Not worth $120 w/mandatory 20%."

  • "Fantastic intimate dining amidst the most beautiful gardens. You feel as though you were far away from the hustle bustle of the town. Service was great and the food was cooked perfectly."

  • "The front part of the restaurant is on the street side but it's so lush that you totally forget the street. It is is divided into 2 areas making it more private even if the area is shared with other patrons. It's quiet and enjoyable. The back of the restaurant is more intimate with private settings. There was a wedding going on we did not get to enjoy this part of the gardens. There are ponds, bridges, lots of greeneries, flowers, trees etc... If you want a table in a private area, I would specify it and check to make sure there is no event going on in the back gardens. Based on comments we read, we did not order any entree. We were 4 and we ordered soup and 2 appetizers each, they were delicious and it was sufficient as a meal."

  • "My husband and I had heard great things about Sundy House so we decided to try the brunch to celebrate our anniversary. We were not disappointed; the food, atmosphere, and service were all top notch. We highly reccomend the Sunday brunch as a place to celebrate a special occasion."

  • "This is a great place and the food is good but the service is consistently AWFUL ... Never had a good server here ever!"

  • "We took mother out for an early Mother's Day dinner and wanted somewhere special. We were not disappointed. The ambiance delightful; service outstanding; and food choices, while small in number, were delicious (they had additional specials). Right down to the dessert. We will add it to our regular dining choices."

  • "Not Happy made a reservation for brunch 8 people requested outside. Which I have done in the past. When we arrived on time, I was seated inside. I went to speak with the manager, he told me he could not help me. He added if I had given my Amex. # when I made the request there would have been no problem. I have been going to this restaurant for years. Never was told about this policy. I had a great relationship with the previous manager wish he was back."

  • "Lunch in the garden at Sundy House is an absolutely memorable experience. Great food, very good service and the setting is magical. What a great place to mark a special occasion or just have a quiet relaxing meal in a natural setting. Can't wait to go back!"

  • "I have eaten at the Sundy House twice now and both times it has been absolutely phenomenal! Everything from the moment you pull in the drive, to the service, food, staff and atmosphere, its sincerely untouchable! I am a Chef and have high expectations when it comes to my dining choices. The staff is professional, friendly and on point at all times. This truly is the place to go for not only great food, but for a great experience! Well done !!!"

  • "The menu presented to us was not the one listed on Open Table, nor on the restaurant's web site. The wine list, beer list and dessert menu were not the same either. We were in the neighborhood for only two evenings and Because we are foodies, this restaurant was selected especially for its advertised culinary specialties, but we were decidedly disappointed. It was a Saturday night and already 9 p.m., so we felt we had no choice but to remain and have our dinner here. Our server and the staff were very attentive and the food was well prepared (although both our asparagus sides were under-cooked) and generous in portion, HOWEVER, it was ordinary, and, unfortunately at the same price point as we were expecting to pay for a much different menu."

  • "We had a delicious dinner in the beautiful gardens of this old home. The service was great, and it was the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion. It would also be great for a nice dinner out - no special occasion needed! We would definitely go back."

  • "We thoroughly had a great time. The ambience was wonderful. We felt like we were in the tropics! My mother was visiting and was with us, and she got excited seeing the fruit trees that grew in our yard back home. Our food took a while to get to us. We had ordered calamari and the flat bread for starters, and the group in the gazebo, who arrived after us, got theirs first. I overheard one of them saying to tell their waiter that they did not order the calamari, although it was completely consumed. It made me wonder if it was supposed to have gone to us first. We asked about the Sunday brunch, and the mgr was kind enough to explain everything to us.It was obvious that he enjoys his job. Overall, we thought the Sundy House was a treasure."

  • "Sundy House is a hidden gem that is very special. The house is charming and has been converted into a lovely restaurant that is low key with consistently amazing food, service and ambiance. Be sure to walk the tropical grounds before or after dinner."

  • "Had a wonderful table on the edge of the garden...such a unique setting, we shared a market greens salad which was huge. Dh had the snapper with book Chou..flavors very Asian, I had the scallops which were served around a pillow of parsnip purée, a fabulous sweet taste I have never enjoyed. Mine also came with brussel sprouts and bacon. A wonderful evening complements with a wine soecisl of stags leap chardonnay"

  • "Delightful time under gazebo for 2 by river walkway in midst of lush landscaping resembling Japaanese garden. Menu varied, reasonably priced, generous portions. Staff attentive and personable, Food fresh and tasty. Highly recommend as a total experience in being good to self and celebrating life in FL"

  • "This old restaurant setting continues to be charming. Beautiful tropical atmosphere. Great place to bring special guests (especially from up north). Disappointed in the neatness and presentation of the Sunday brunch. Messy food stations and sloppy presentation. Depleated platters left us less than impressed. Overall caliber of this special & expensive ($300 for our group of 4) brunch seems to have declined. Waitstaff was very pleasant but spread way too thin. Very hard to get their attention. Were unable to replenish beverages in a reasonable amount of time with every request, and finally gave up trying. Great eggs Benedict!"

  • "I knew Sunday house was known for their venue but we were pleasantly surprised at how fresh and well presented the food would be. The service was outstanding from reception to bartender and wait staff. We can't wait to go back."

  • "Menu online was not the same menu at the restaurant. Waiter was rude, argumentative and insensitive to food allergies. He spent more time justifying his stubbornness then just taking the time to listen to us explain our son's dietary needs. We were in contact with the Manager throughout the meal to no avail. He was interested in listening perhaps to deal internally with his out of control employee yet he lacked a genuine care for us as customers. He promised to send something out to the table to make up for the experience and that never came. Alas, at the end, he came by and offered dessert but we were ready to go. They did remove my son's entree from the bill but had the nerve to add full tip. VERY PRICEY WORST BIRTHDAY DINNER EVER"

  • "From the incredible food, surroundings, ambience and delightful service, this was the perfect choice for our daughter's birthday brunch. The staff were friendly and attentive, without being fauning or fake. Our drinks (water, coffee and cocktails) were refilled before any of us noticed that they needed a top up. Each time we got up for our next amazing food choice, we returned to a table where our napkins had been neatly folded and ready for our return. My "make your own" Bloody Mary, was excellent - I didn't realize I was so good at bartending - it was fun! Food was plentiful and exquisite! Our server was charming! Thank you again Sundy House!!"

  • "Excellent brunch with lots of choices of both food and beverage. However, it is in my opinion pretty pricey for brunch...my bill was over $100 for two people."

  • "Beautiful setting with a lot of outdoor seating--near water features, gardens, tropical feel. Buffet includes crab legs, shrimp, variety of salads, beef, chicken dish, fish, eggs benedict, omelette station, sausage/bacon, etc. Mimosas, bloody marys and belinis. Plenty of pastries/deserts. Quality is slipping a bit--about two years ago I would have given 5 stars--they seem a bit complacent now and quality is good, but not great. Beef was overcooked--even though I asked for rare, there was nothing even pink in what I was served--and he was cutting from the center of a fresh piece that was just brought out. The cost: $70+ per person--they include a 20% service charge. Even with OpenTable reservations we had to wait 20 minutes to get seated."

  • "We went for dinner to celebrate our 3 year anniversary since we got married at the Sundy House. The food was good but not nearly as creative and special as it used to be. The dishes all tasted amazing but we used to go and be able to experience food that we would only see on those cooking competition shows. Now it's still delicious but it's food you'd see on any upscale menu. I'll continue to go because the place to special to me but I hope the caliber of the menu returns to its former glory soon."

  • "The experience was one of, if not my best restaurant experience ever! the food was amazing, the scenery was amazing and our server- Brittany was awesome. She even gave us a little tour of the grounds! I will be back again for dinner and I would love to experience their brunch!"

  • "Nice setting, decent food, good service. Looking forward to seeing my 1000 Open Table points I was promised by reserving here at 6:30, earlier than we'd usually dine. We'd eaten at Sundy House many times when we used to stay there, and this was a nostalgic return visit."

  • "After being welcomed at the front door we were guided through the historical Sundy House to an Atrium bar and out door dining in the lush gardens and our table next to a fern edged pool. The wait staff greeted us promptly and we soon had our tropical cocktails and wine. We ordered the calamari appetizer right away. The crispy calamari was served on a Thai slaw. It was large enough for two and delicious. Our entrees, steak and the Triple tail snapper were also delicious, tender and cooked just right. We enjoyed our evening, ending with a short walk through the garden. We must make a note of how welcoming, personable and efficient the wait staff was and how they made our evening at Sunday House special."

  • "We made reservations for 7:30 pm and they get us the table 45 min later, even when we ask several times what happened. Their excuse was they were waiting for a table. We asked if they could put us outside, (where I could see several tables available), and they said there were reserved. It took very long to bring the drinks as well."

  • "Set in lush exotic gardens and a beautiful old Victorian House, Sunday brunch at Sundy House is not to be missed. Food abounds , from the chilled seafood table to omelets made to order and anything you can think of inbetween, including a "make your own" bloody mary bar with all the fixings. The setting is the star here, and quite romantic it is. Expect to wait even if you have reservations - for our 12:30 reservation we were finally seated at 1:00 pm. - that's the only downer in this lovely experience. And be prepared to pay for the experiece, but it's worth it."

  • "This place never disappoints! Absolutely incredible, I am mesmerized every time I visit Sundy House. The Sunday Brunch is the best in South Florida. The delicious spread and overflowing mimosas paired with the ambiance of sitting in an enchanted garden, its breath taking. Be prepared to empty your wallet, but it is worth every last dime!"

  • "Few places match great food with great atmosphere. The Sundy House does just that. The setting is serene and beautiful, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. Brunch is laid out over different rooms with a fresh cold seafood bar, breads and salad, hot entrees, an omelette station, a bloody mary station, and of course dessert (not to mention very good iced coffee). Take a break in between courses and stop by the pool to dip your toes...but beware, the small resident fish will gently nip at your toes! No complaints...this is truly a SoFL gem, and while I would imagine any meal would be good here, brunch was a particular treat."
