  • "For being a more expensive restaurant, I would expect the service to be much better. We had to ask three times just get some bread and I ended up drinking my friend's water because I never got a refill. The table next to us was a bunch of high-roller business men so were getting primo service, however. I appetizer was a little too salty for me. The prime was rib was delicious though. We did get a free dessert because it was my friends birthday so that was nice. Overall, if I am going to spend $30-50 a plate, I would expect the service to be much better. Disappointed!"

  • "You'll walk in to be greeted by warm smiles and a friendly voices. Your eyes can't stop admiring the classy decor of leather and dark stained wood. The clean smell only disturbed as you walk by each recently served table. Your conversation only disturbed by appropriately timed service. And when the food hits your taste buds, it throws you back in your seat, as you try to slow down each chew and fight the urge to take another bite before swallowing, leaving you with a 5th sense of satisfaction, delight and urgency to plan another visit."

They searched high and low before I discovered it had fallen under the seat in my car. I was embarrassed to have wasted their time but they were very gracious and helpful."

  • "Three of us had lunch and the food was excellent with many choices on the menu. Extensive wine list. The only reason for the service rating is that we continually had to flag down our server when needed something, i.e., dessert menu and it took some time to get our wine once it was ordered. Otherwise, a very pleasant experience. It was nice to be able to talk without having to talk over noise."

  • "Our server was excellent, very personable but not overbearing. Bread was amazing. I liked the prime rib, but i didn't find it very flavorful. The mashed potatoes were very rich yet light and fluffy texture-wise. We mentioned at the end of the meal, after we had gotten the check, that it was our anniversary and the server insisted that he take the check back and adjust the price to give us our dessert for free (we got the apple pie, which was delicious). Over all a romantic and relaxing experience, although it was quite noisy, especially when we arrived at 7pm."

  • "The minimum lighting is compounded by the dark paneling, which almost makes it seems like a cave. The meals were OK, except my filet was a cut from the end of the tenderloin. My filet had considerable grizzle, which I do not expect with a meal in that price range. I complained to our server, and to his credit, he removed it from our check."

  • "After several disappointing visits, finally had a good experience. The difference was not in the quality of food, but in the service and level of attention. The previous visits I had encountered rule, inattentitve servers, slow service and mistakes in our order. Not this time; we did not like the table we were given, asked to be seated in the bar and were given a geat table and an excellent server. Danny, the server who arranged for us to move is especially commended for his wonderful, helpful attitude, even though he lost us as a customer in his area."

  • "Brought a friend from another state here while she was visiting. The food is great and our server was excellent. I would definitely recommend getting a reservation first as this place was pretty packed even on a Monday evening. Only down side is the parking situation. Lot was full and we had to drive around doing multiple U-turns to get back to the restaurant. If the lot is full, there aren't a lot of other options in the close vicinity for parking."

  • "This is the 3rd time in a row that my favorite steak house on the peninsula has disapointed - on several counts. The server had an attitude, was unfriendly, did not accommodate my kids' requests for vegetables and got my side order wrong. One of their filets was a really strange cut of meat. The restaurant comped the steak, but my daughter went home hungry - I would much rather have got a decent steak than a credit on my bill. I have a business dinner there tonight - if my experience is like the previous 3 times, this will be my last visit. It is a shame - they have gone downhill rapidly, especially when it comes to service."

The food is always top notch and cooked perfectly. Our server recommended a great bottle of wine too. Coworkers and I always plan for a fancy dinner one night during the week during work travel assignments - Sundance is always our go-to spot in San Jose area!"

Also impressed with the skirt steak and the burgers and fries. But, what made it extra enjoyable was our server, Jerry. He was so knowledgeable about the wines it was very helpful. He also gave us a special birthday dessert! Loved it!"

  • "Our family has been coming to Sundance since it opened to celebrate my parents' birthdays. My mother tells me every time we pass it "This is where I'll go to celebrate my birthday!" This year we celebrated her 95th birthday. The staff was very kind to her and the waiter cut her meat. The food we ordered (salmon and prime rib) was delicious as was the the arugula strawberry salad. The pinot noir was excellent. We always enjoy singing to her over the "mud pie" dessert and sharing it afterward."

They have my Steakhouse Favorite drink as one of their signature libations as well (Maker's Mark Manhattan .. although I take mine without bitters). Prime Rib is the feature, but the Ribeye looked really, really nice (ordered by another member of my party). Be sure to request grated horseradish."

The four of each had a different entree, with some sharing of tastes, and each of us was very happy with our meal.   • "The interior of sundance is very dim. Your eyes will eventually adjust. Tables were a bit close. No room for a stroller. I dined with a toddler and an infant. Whatever noises they made (and it wasn't much) was lost in the chatter of other diners. Prime rib was excellent. The creamed spinach felt like it was lacking a little something. It was good, but not hit the spot kind of good. Garlic mash potatoes were delicious. The kids meal of chicken tenders and fries were great. We were given crayons as well for our toddler. Mud pie was generous and fantastic! All in all, w will dine there again!"

  • "I really love the food at Sundance Steakhouse and have never had a bad meal there before. The service during dinner was incredible, and our waitress was superb. One of the best I've ever had. However, right when we were getting ready to leave, a gentleman from the restaurant comes over and asks us if he could buy us a round of drinks at the bar if we move tables since they needed the table for another group. This kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I understand this weekend was busy, but I feel like it was kind of inappropriate. I will probably return to Sundance, but this experience kind of marred it in my book."

  • "An incident occurred with the reservations check-in at the restaurant that made it clear that it would be better not to book reservations with open table or make comments about the restaurants that use this service. Apparently, restaurants are able to let open table know which diners should get preferential treatment and which are a bad risk and to book accordingly. Service by the waiters and floor staff was excellent as always. And the manager did compensate for the misfortunate start to what would have been a great evening."

  • "Great service. We were late for our reservation, but the hostess tried her best to accomodate us. The waitress still offers us the early bird dinner even we were at the last minutes to 6:00. We were very happy of the prime rib...and the overall services."

  • "As usual I had the bone-in rib-eye. It is always excellent, but this time it was even better than ever. I travel quite a bit and never had a better piece of meat. It has its price, but it's well worth it The only downside is that it is a bit noisy, but thanks god no TVs on the walls"
