Storm Rhum Bar and BistroDelicious! Our trip to Storm was fantastic! We had the Ricotta Gnudi which was one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. We also had the lamb burger and the beet salad. My Perfect Storm Mojito was delightful. Our server was a gem! So helpful and sweet. We enjoyed every second of our dining experience.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMClassy as alwaysDinner and drinks by candlelight. Lovely presentation and flavors of the food. Service attentive but not overdone, no hovering here. Waitstaff anticipates needs. Quickly becoming an all-time favorite.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst time won't be the last timeOur Thursday evening dining was excellent, and at our ages, we may seem picky at times! We had a table with a view of the street (next time, outside if the wind isn't blowing); our server was pleasant, prompt, not hovering, not ostentatious or pompous, and he did not grab the plates away before time (this "grabbing" is annoying to us who want to eat at our leisure). The food we all exclaimed over: shrimp and grits--perfect; hamburger and lamb burger--just right, juicy, tasty; trout--unbelievably good. Coffee good and generous. I like the online reservation systerm, plus the call, and the courtesy call that a bag had been left behind. All in all--all agreed, we'll be back and soon.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, funky atmosphereIt was our 35th anniversary and this restaurant had been recommended by friends. I made a reservation about two weeks in advance. We ordered the hangar steak - medium. My husband's steak was hot and delicious. Mine was lukewarm. I notified the waiter who notified the manager. He apologized and had another steak and trimmings done for me, which was hot and scrumptious. Since they knew about our anniversary, they gave us free desserts, which were excellent.
The atmosphere was too funky for me. They had mixed antique/junk chairs at the tables, some of which were rickety. I'm in my sixties. The style was not to my liking. It would look so much better with matching chairs.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visitWe decided to eat at Strom based upon feedback from other Open Table users. I was not overly impressed with the menu (only had two salad options), but the fish and steak specials were great. The tables are quite tiny and you feel really cramped so ambiance fell a little short of expectations.
The staff was great and finding free parking in Asheville is alwasy and added bonus.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMGood fun and food8 of us dined at 5:30 on a Friday at Storm. We had wonderful food and service. We will be back. Thanks!5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated menu deliveredSophisticated menu delivered very good food. Prices were quite reasibabke and the 1/2 price house wine on Sun was surprisingly good. I will recommend to my friends.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat overall experiance.Great food, great service. I like everything about this place. Would recommend it to everyone.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMTry the rum!I loved being able to sample all the rum options. Half pours for half price is a great way to sample the more expensive varieties.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the greatest tasteOne of the greatest taste sensations and food pairings I have had in awhile5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! One of the best meals both myself and my husband have EVER had! We will definitely be back.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMMy party of four all thoroughlyMy party of four all thoroughly enjoyed Storm! We added comments to our reservation asking for a corner table or space that would better accommodate a person in our party that was hard of hearing - they seated us in a corner, which worked well. Salads and entrees were great! The hostess and our waiter were very pleasant, helpful, and knowledgable. Overall, very nice place. Three of us had fish for our entree and one had the ribeye special - meals were innovative and tasty.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were an international partyWe were an international party of 10 work colleagues, always a concern whether the dining experience will scale successfully to a large party. Service was outstanding. Each of us chose one of the daily specials and everyone was vey pleased with their dinners. I am glad to accept the credit I received for entertaining the group so well. Storm Rhum is highly recommended.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the food and the wait staffThree different meals in our group--all wonderful. Love the emphasis on LOCAL. Can't say enough wonderful things about the spring vegetable risotto.4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMHuge burgers, good shrimpHuge burgers, good shrimp and grits and moist roast chicken. Service was great!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe kale don't fail. The kale salad is a whole new way of looking at something green. I mean I could write a sonnet but I don't have time today.
I prefer the old hanger steak plate--I think it had asparagus--but the steak was still tender and good. My sister-in-law had short ribs and polenta and lord have mercy were they good!!!! Great wine.
Drinks at the bar--well, it takes some getting used to--all that cilantro. But the bartender was excellent and it was fun to try odd concoctions.
Great evening.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery unique place. It setsVery unique place. It sets itself apart with an awesome atmosphere. Great vibe. Great service. Great food!4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting AshevilleWe were visiting Asheville for the weekend and decided to dine here based on the Open Table reviews. It's a nice open space, you can see into the kitchen from the dining room. Very helpful hostess and great service, nice wine list. The brussel sprout starter with Benton's bacon was delicious. We had the shrimp and grits with a tasso ham broth that was great and a strip steak cooked to perfection with a potato galette and a poached egg that they cook at a low temp for 2 hours which creates a incredible yolk consistency, like butter, unreal. We made a good choice and enjoyed the evening very much.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMA fun dinner out! This was a great meal! We were having a family celebration and our server Joeseph couldn't have been more accommodating!! Highly recommend.3/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMorgan's Last Stand DinnerMorgan's bachelor party (9 ppl) dinner. Good cocktails. Pimento cheese w/ bacon jam was great and the bread was better. Salmon on top of squash and grains was pretty tasty. A little over done for my taste. Chocolate fudge brownie with raspberry and chocolate ganache & super runny vanilla ice cream was the winner. Buttermilk shortcake with creme fraiche and vanilla (?) ice cream was a little dry and ice cream a little runny. Jess picked up the tab. Thanks, Jess! The food was delicate and southern which was perfect for the occasion. The ambiance makes the restaurant. Next time in Asheville, I will go for a drink and grab dinner somewhere new.... then The French Broad for dessert.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed the food immensely,Enjoyed the food immensely, though I felt the description of my entree did not quite live up to what I got. My entree was a special, quite well-prepared, but the "sides" were so scant as to be more of a garnish, which was a shame as they were really delightful and I would have liked a proper serving! Service was good, though not great. Our server was apparently new and it showed a bit, but he was delightfully personable and his oversights forgivable.
Overall worth a visit and a return visit.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMStorm Rhum bar was a greatStorm Rhum bar was a great find. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I highly recommend the rum tasting.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AM
