  • "We've dined several times at Stonehill and reserve it for special occasions. This time around we tried the tasting menu which was very good. The portions are tiny and the prices high so with a bottle or two of good wine from the extensive wine list you can easily spend $400. The service was above average, but very uneven. It took over 2 1/2 hours for the dinner service and the restaurant was not crowded and we were the first guests at 5:30 pm."

  • "Our meal was very nice but the service was better. Our waiter was excellent and allowed our conversation to flow while picking his moments to address the table. The meal was very good and we enjoyed the chef samplings we were presented with. It is a tad bit on the expensive side but the experience was worth it."

  • "My wife had the scallops which were tender and delicious. I had the filet (medium rare of course) and it was exceptional. Together with some starters (lovely salad and pumpkin ravioli), a nice bottle of wine, and some side dishes of vegetables (mushrooms and squash), the meal was extraordinary. The waiter's attention to detail was above average. He brought us some complimentary soup made by the chef prior to our starter, as well as some complimentary deserts for our anniversary, although I still ordered the warm chocolate mousse! Our only complaint would be the prices are extremely high for the quantity of food that is served. All portions are tiny. Extremely small and less than what we would expect from a steak/seafood house."

  • "We've been going there for special occasions for about 6 years. Note: There is only a view out the windows BEFORE sunset. Booths by the bar (no view) are cozy and romantic. Food is mostly local, with good fish and vegetables. Meat is over-priced, even for a $$$$ restaurant. Wine list is extensive and expensive. Service is excellent."

  • "I brought my Mom to Stonehill Tavern for her birthday. She lives nearby and it is her favorite special-occasion restaurant. They always treat us so well, lavishing attention and special samplings of their incredible creations upon us. Metro has always been our waiter, and he has a talent of making us feel extra special and appreciated. Add to that feeling the incredible food (we both had the Black Cod- excellent), and it truly is a spectacular event. They even brought us a few birthday desserts- wow! We were totally spoiled, and I think my Mom will remember it always. Thanks to Stonehill and Metro for a truly wonderful evening!"

  • "Excellent dinning experience all around. Bit disappointed not have the bottle of wine ordered from the menu, Gary Farrell. Tried to up sell, but did not offer at the same price point, not good business. Dessert order was forgotten at the end and timing fell short at the end also, while not very busy at all??? Over all great experience and cuisine. We will more than likely return to this beautiful property. Merci,"

  • "I have been going here for years, but in the last year the restaurant has become one of the best in southern California. GM David, Chef Raj and the Sommelier Paul have all taken the Stone Hill Tavern to the next level. I highly recommend this restaurant !"

  • "Just an amazing meal. The food presentation was perfect. My wife had the filet and I had the bone in rib-eye. They both had amazing flavors, charred nicely with seasoning that enhanced the meat's flavor. If I had to be uber critical, the filet was cooked medium towards the edges, instead of medium-rare the whole way through. The tuna tartare was great as usual, its one of the staple appetizers. They prepare it at your table and you see all of the fresh ingredients. The small chef appetizers they brought us were perfectly sized, unique and a great surprise for the meal. We were starting to think we would not have room for the steaks since there was so many. All in all, it is one of our favorite restaurants. Great experience."

  • "The setting, with windows overlooking the St. Regis Hotel's expansive garden, couldn't be more dramatic. I'd definitely opt for an early dinner to enjoy the light. The service was also excellent; our server, Greg, was pleasant, efficient, non-intrusive, but personable. Food was good. We had Miso sablefish and the lobster pot pie along with a side of fried shisito peppers. We also had a konpachi appetizer. The sashimi portion was on the skimpy side. The miso cod was similar to what you'd get from an izakaya, along with an ordinary udon. The lobster pot pie was richly flavorful and had a wonderful presentation, but the lobster tail was a bit overdone and the crust was lost under the sauce. I'd have loved to see a pâte levée feuilletée crust."

  • "The food at Stonehill Tavern is some of the best. Ingredients are always a cut above what you find elsewhere. Tuna tar-tar with truffle and jalapeno oils is wonderful. St. Pierre fish was a bit salty, but very good when combined with the brussel sprouts and/or parsley root puree that accompanied it. Service was slow this time. Took us three hours to complete a simple three courses. But I still love the food and ambiance. It is Michael Mina at his best."

  • "Hi All, So the service was 5 star for sure. They use your name and treat you like you tip $100 for water. This is even before you sit down. The tables are set perfect, so you can see the sunset from almost any angle. The food was devine. My wife and I had 2 dishes that words will never do them justice. The Lobster Pot Pie was perfect. THe meat felt like it was boiled in butter. The pastry crust was light and melted in your mouth. you wanted more with every bite. The Butcher cut this night was so good, I had to take a moment. The meat was so rich in flavor you have had sit back and feel eat bite. If you eat this to fast you would be short changing your self and your taste buds. I will go back as soon as I can afford to... $330 on dinner"

  • "My wife and I enjoyed the atmosphere and the well made cocktails, but the entrees were small and overpriced. The kale caesar salad that we split was mediocre served with warm dressing. My wife's sea bass was cooked well, but served with tasteless noodles in a strange broth. My filet was cooked perfectly, but it was small and came cut up. My steal was served with small portion sides. I would have ordered more food if I knew it was a tasting portion. We did appreciate the service as well as the complimentary appetizer, but the overall cost was not in line with the offering."

Service good and very knowledgeable, but not quite attentive enough. We prefer Studio at the Montage. At same price point you get far better ambiance, exceptional food and attentive service. Overall just OK."

  • "We didn't think anything other than Mina's flagship in San Francisco would be amazing. We were wrong. This is in a five diamond hotel, for starters. Then add a top notch wine list-even those by the glass-and a smart, comfortable setting. The food was perfectly prepared and our server left us wanting nothing. Make sure to try the lobster pot pie."

Note: use the free valet service at the hotel entrance when you come to the restaurant. My own complaint is that they're not open for lunch!"

  • "We had an excellent meal with attentive service. This was not my first visit to Stonehill Tavern although it was the first time I ordered the Jidori Chicken. I do not usually order chicken in a restaurant but my daughter kept telling me how good it was so I had to try it. It truly was outstanding, moist and tender, accompanied by truffled macaroni and cheese, and broccoli. I will definitely return to order this wonderful comfort food again. The black cod was also very good. My only complaint was the noise level was rather high, probably because we were seated by a table of six women that increased their volume with each round of drinks. Nevertheless, it was a most enjoyable meal."

  • "This dining experience was outstanding. Discreet, friendly and attentive service. The food was beautiful, complex and memorable. We had dined here last when it was Michael Mina's Aqua. We ordered the lobster pot pie and scallops then and did the same this time. The lobster pot pie and scallops were memorable then but Michaal Mina's revamp was complex (I would like a lifetime supply of the lobster sauce and both dishes were truly elevated to sublime. The textures of both lobster and scallops were spot on. Flavors and seasonings were absolutely perfect in all the dishes including the amuse bouche, crispy Kale and the stand alone bread service with it's accompanying compund butter. Thank you for a truly memorable evening!"

The food was absolutely AMAZING as well. Thank you so much for one of the best nights my wife and I had. We will be coming back.   • "My boyfriend and I were enjoying a "staycation" at the St. Regis and decided to have dinner at Stonehill Tavern to avoid driving into town. From start to finish, the meal was amazing. Instead of ordering the same 'ol steak we generally opt for, we decided on trying something new and ordered the Whole Fried Chicken for two.....SIMPLY DIVINE!! We live in Burbank, and will drive down here just to experience this chicken dish again. Everything from the kale salad to dessert was delicious. Highly recommend outdoor table for the view and it's quiet for romantic dinner. Indoor will be louder."

  • "This was our 2nd visit. The first time the food was okay but the ambience and great waiter brought us back. This visit the only change was the waiter came across as he was doing us a favor by even taking our order. Once the food was severed, he never stopped by to see if our food was okay, top off our wine or see if we needed anything else. The waiter killed the experience."

  • "We chose Stonehill for my husbands 40th Birthday. My husband ordered the filet and I ordered the Lobster Pot Pie. For an upscale restaurant the portions were unexpectedly generous. We both ordered items that are traditionally heavy however we finished them even though we were full because the preparation made them seem light and they tasted fantastic!"

  • "I have dined at Michael Mina restaurants before, and so admittedly my expectations were high. Can I tell you anything really bad about our meal? Not really. Conversely, there was nothing great. For the prices, it should have been the former. And I hate being gouged for a drink (17.00 martini). Our server was very good initially, but that was easy to do since he was not busy. When he got busy, we were neglected. There was an unacceptably long wait between our starters and the main course. This meal was intended to be a special occasion for my spouse's birthday, but it was not. P.S. We had a great view from our table of the ocean and the sunset, but man, St. Regis or MIchael Mina Corp, clean the windows!"

  • "Everything came out in a timely manner, all the food was perfectly cooked. The servers were consistent but not too overwhelming. Plus I would have to say it was the best dessert I have ever had. The best touch is I always prefer booths but at this resturant the only booths are in the bar and we don't drink. However the bartender noticed we were drinking cherry cokes and she came over with something she created. It fasted like the best strawberry lemonade in the world but she put it in wine glasses so "we we can feel fancy" as she said. It was charming and adorable and I can't wait to go back!"
