Diner Reviews
  • "This is a great place to eat before or after a theater show in Hollywood. Their pizzas are outstanding in both their regular and thin crust renditions. They offer excellent Bloody Marys and Mimosas at reasonable prices. They also sell great gourmet cookies."

  • "Found this place on Open Table while trying to get reservations for another place that was booked. Easy to find & it was just the kind of place we were looking for. Nice ambiance, energetic music which allowed us to have close intimate conversation. The Rasputin beer & Chianti were very tasty. We drove in from Ventura County & we wanted a change of scenery. We enjoyed Pizza, chopped salad along with a cappuccino & dessert. Long leisurely evening was worth the drive. Our reservation was for 730pm and we arrived early and seated by 720, so that was quite nice."

  • "We went here for a quick meal before a show at the nearby Pantages. The appetizers were excellent quality. The staff quickly served us, in order to accommodate our time crunch. The pizzas and main courses looked delicious, but we didn't have time to try them. This place is very attractive and looks like a fun evening Looking forward to another visit"

  • "The location is great! The restaurant had a great and fun vibe! The service was exceptional and the food was amazing! I would recommend the meatballs! Stella is great for groups and small parties! Would definitely come again!"

  • "This is my second visit. I am very picky about my pizza and I can't rave enough about the house-made sausage. The crust is thin and crispy, and I am one of those people who eat all the edges when the crust is right........and I ate every single bite. The Butterscotch Pudding is a delightful way to end the meal. The staff is very nice and helpful and the service is speedy but you never feel rushed. This is my new favorite place to have dinner before a movie at The Arclight and I plan to become a regular."

  • "Our first meal at Stella Barra was a great success! Tried the brussel sprouts, a pizza, a salad and a ginger cooky! All were delicious and the service was perfect!"

  • "Stella Barra is part of the Lettuce Entertain You group of restaurants. I know Lettuce properties for having exceptional service and great product in their kitchens, and Stella is a welcome West Coast addition to their family of restaurants. We started with the Pork Meatballs, the Kale/Spinach and date salad, as well as the gnocchi. Meatballs were the star of the first round; just spicy enough and made with lardon. Bravo! For our pizzas we went with the Thin Sin option for both our red and white pizza selections instead of the traditional hand tossed type crust. We did the pepperoni pizza and added chiles (which they put under the cheese, and that rocked) as well as the kale pizza with added prosciutto. Ask for Haendel, he was superb. A+"

  • "They have a large selection of pizzas including breakfast pizzas. They also have nice salads. The kitchen is open so you can see the cooks making everything. If you like thin crust pizza, you can order a very thin crust."

  • "My sister and I came here before seeing Book of Mormon at the Pantages on Saturday night. We got there just in time to catch the last 15 minutes of happy hour. We ordered two well drinks (rum & coke, vodka & soda) expecting them to be happy hour well drinks; surprise surprise they use the good stuff in their happy hour drinks, our first indication that this was going to be a great meal. We ordered the baked goat cheese, green salad and half margarita half mushroom (with truffles & caramelized onion) pizza. Everything we absolutely delicious. The crust was thin and so good, just the right amount of chew and crunch. Salad was well dressed and the baked goat cheese was warm and gooey."

  • "The atmosphere was casual, yet service was great, and the food delicious. We ordered the burrata as a starter and it was to die for! We then shared a pizza, half sausage with spicy tomato sauce and half venice beach, which is a breakfast pizza with egg whites, smoked bacon, mushrooms and herbs. However, the manager came over with the pizza and apologetically informed us the kitchen made a mistake and instead of the venice beach half, we got mushrooms instead. The manager gave us the pizza anyway so we have something to eat and informed us the venice beach is coming right up. Needless to say, we received an additional pizza. They were all so tasty and really appreciate the extra effort to get us what we want. What a great find!"

  • "After a great show at the Pantages, we went over to Stella Barra for happy hour and an early dinner. We stayed for quite awhile and had a fabulous meal and unique cocktail. It was wonderful and we'd all go back."

  • "We liked our beer, pizza and veggies pretty well, but the menu is pretty limited. The main draw is its convenience to ArcLight. The service is very good and so are the cookies, which we sneaked into the theater."

  • "Perfect for a light meal (though not-so-light if you order as much as we did) after a movie next door. Friendly wait staff, fast service, tasty pizza or small plates. Get the butternut squash pizza."

  • "Another fantastic meal. Never get tired of the amazing burrata, fennel bianco pizza, and salted caramel butterscotch budino. Gnocchi with squash purree was an interesting new dish. Always love the pastas (truffle and sausage ragu?) when they're available, didn't see them on the specials this time but do hope they bring those back)."

  • "Had an early dinner at Stella Barra before theater at the Pantages. The service was excellent. Our group had 3 different salads, all of which we thought were great. We ordered 3 different pizzas. The thin crust was very, very light, and the two regular pizzas (mushroom and bacon goat cheese) were hearty and delicious. The dessert, which was some kind of a carmel custard-like creation was to die for. It reminded me of butterscotch pudding, only it was the best I've ever had. The restaurant itself is very cool….wide variety of types of seating (bar, high tables, low table, couches) for whatever suits you best. Very enjoyable, and I'll definitely go back."

  • "We made reservations here prior to seeing a performance at the Pantages Theater. It was convenient and the food was great! We had their margherita pizza and the salad. We got there a little late but called them from traffic and there was no problem getting in when we arrived. From the hostess to our wonderful waitress everyone was nice and friendly. We would definitely return!"

  • "For Valentine's Day, we planned a night out to see the Book of Mormon coupled with a nearby dinner. My wife loves pizza! Fancy or not, she loves pizza. Yelp led me to Stella Barra, and for this, we are thankful! We ordered from the Valentine's dinner option. The chopped salad was awesome, because it was basically a pizza w/o the dough. For the entree, we ordered the shaved mushroom pizza and added italian sausage. Wow.. was that the business! To top end the dinner strong, we ordered the salted caramel custard. The meal included a bottle of wine. Great deal for Hollywood. Good service, good food. Will return if we find ourselves in Hollywood."

  • "Before heading to our LEGO movie, we ate the most amazing pizza at Stella Barra. That, the cauliflower appetizer special, and the phenomenal SOB Cowboy whiskey drink made the night...well, int he words of the movie "Everything is Awesome!!!""

  • "Very hospitable. Good crew. Interior/ambience/vibe ok but the food is just mediocre and unremarkable. They need a major upgrade in the quality of their pizza and salad offerings. If one is used to the quality of food at, for example, Nancy Silverton's Pizzeria Mozza, Stella Barra is a real disappointment. The food is not bad, it's just unremarkable."

  • "We've been to this restaurant many times, and are absolutely thrilled to find a really GREAT pizza/salad/pasta place adjacent to our favorite movie theatre in LA. (We love Stella Barra so much we'll head there even if we're not going to Arclight!) The pizzas are fabulous, as is the burrata appetizer. My favorite item is the spinach and purple kale salad -- it is most delicious; lightly dressed and the dates offer a nice sweetness. We tried dessert for the first time recently, and I LOVE the butterscotch pudding with sea salt caramel. YUMMMY, as was the enormous chocolate chip cookie with sea salt that my son ordered (I managed to sneak a bite.) DC was a wonderful server, offered great recommendations and a nicely paced meal."

  • "stella barra is in a perfect location for a pre-arclight meal. the pizzas themselves are pretty excellent, as at their santa monica location. sides are much less successful and servers seem overwhelmed. wine list merely passable. pleasant vibe and gets busy at certain times of night. recommended for a pre-theater stop; if not, there other better places in this neighborhood for the same price."

  • "This is a great place for dining if you are going to Arclight, Pantages or just hanging out in Cahuenga Corridor. I organized a group dinner for 6 foodie ladies and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable. When possible, they are willing to subtract meat or cheese from menu items upon request. I look forward to dining here again!"

  • "We were a party of 11 and headed to an 8pm show if the lion king. We had 4 kids in our party ages 7-11. The kids got to sit up at a counter near the kitchen and make their own pizzas. They had a blast and enjoyed their pizzas at our table after they were done baking. Our food was yummy. I would definitely try the kale salad. That was delicious. The bacon/apple pizza was very yummy too. Overall a great place. We enjoyed our dinner here very much."

  • "Hollywood could do with more cheap but great and simple dining establishments. Stella Barra is what it is, a pizzeria with some pastas, and what they do they do very well. Pizzas are fantastic, great drinks as well. Perfect central location in Hollywood. We have been multiple times in the last few months, great bar as well and good place to eat and watch a game. Highly recommend and easy take out as well. Secretly delicious chocolate chip cookies."

  • "We visited during a recent trip to LA and Stella was a recommendation from a friend in LA. I loved the vibe of the restaurant. Very open with kitchen view. Pizzas were excellent - all natural ingredients. Don't miss the burrata and the meatballs, outstanding! We were there with our four kids and the hostess was gracious. Our waitress was very attentive and service oriented. She did a great job of explaining features and favorites. We were even treated to two of their homemade cookies (peanut butter was the best I've tried). My kids loved the chocolate chip with sea salt. Overall a terrific dining experience. We would go back next time we are in LA."

  • "Gotta say that I've wanted a delicious convenient low key, casual, delicious and not too expensive place to grab a bite after the movies, and Stella Barra is it. Nice people all around, great delicious pizza with fresh ingredients and the thin crust is one of the best I've had. The kale salad is has a unique blend of flavors and a sweet but savory dressing. I just like it here. The wait staff is very friendly and mostly attentive for a pizza joint and the drinks and wine are descent and reasonably priced. The menu is limited, so don't expect lots of choices. It's pizza and a few solid appetizers. Go when your hungry and in the mood to eat and shut up about carbs. Their bread with the burratta cheese is outstanding and not slimming! Enjoy!!!"

  • "If you like super thin pizza get the Thin Sin! We did two different pizzas - the shaved mushroom and the farm egg and proscuitto, we all agreed that the shaved mushroom won hands down! There are mushrooms on every bite! Lauren was a wonderful server and the wine and beer selections were superb! Definitely planning to go back!"

  • "We went for brunch on a Sunday. The mimosa deal was great ($10 for bottomless). I had a pizza which was just ok. My hubby had a turkey sandwich that looked good, but was on bread that was just too hard. The menu seemed small and limited for lunch and brunch. The look of the place is very cool and the staff were nice. Doubt I will return."
