  • "Perhaps because it was a Wednesday evening, or perhaps because it was the start of a new menu, there were six of us dining that evening. The ambiance was simple and elegant. The service was outstanding, the wine pairings were perfect and the food was amazing. Not only were the servings pleasing to the palate, they were beautifully presented. The entire experience was memorable."

  • "Unique ambiance combined with perfect execution! Stinging nettle sauce over halibut was a spectacular highlight of the night. I didnt know that my toungue had that many taste buds! The wine pairings were spot on all night and accentuated the flavors perfectly. They went above and beyond with every detail and made our night a special experience!!!"

  • "the State and Lemp guys successfully achieve a fine-dining atmosphere without the stuffiness. Incredible service, fun atmosphere, great wine pairings, friendly staff. I do have to be honest about the food. Presentation was exquisite, but food was good, not great. It's hard to meet all expectations when price tag is so high, but there wasn't any ONE course that blew me (or my party) away. Food for thought (pun intended). I'd definitely recommend it for a unique Boise experience."

  • "This is the very top end of Boise dining, and would be a find anywhere in the world. An extraordinary meal."

  • "Imagine being invited to the home of a great chef for a dinner party of twenty. State & Lemp has that feel. We had the best meal we have ever had in Boise, maybe anywhere. We were waited on hand and foot. The inside of the restaurant itself is a work of art. We enjoyed perfect-sized portions in six courses, all delicious and each paired with a thoughtfully chosen wine. The wait staff explained each course to the table. For appetizers, we had slow-cooked octopus (wow!), burrata (cheese) and lonza (pork). For main dishes, we ate halibut that melted in our mouths, quail cooked in a sous-vide, and beef tongue and cheek that cut like butter. Dessert was also delicious. They even came up with amazing dairy-free alternatives. Go now!"

  • "Amazing food and staff. We loved every dish, the wines paired with it and the community feel. I hope this restaurant grows and becomes a huge success."

  • "I was really hoping for a new place to frequent and I love fine dining and don't mind spending some money on a night out. However, having been to Binkley's, in Arizona, earlier in the year my expectations were high. I felt like the wine pairings were good, the atmosphere was nice, but the staff describing our meal was a bit stiff and the meal needed more courses or small appetizers in between or something. We ended up eating a lot of bread and our breakfast treat as we left. There were 3 courses besides the soup and dessert. The fish dish with black squid ink was not well received in our group. The soup and dessert were our favorite part."

  • "Our dining experience at State & Lemp is worth of any foodie's dream meal. Beautifully prepared and artfully presented, we were not disappointed. The menu was surprising and inventive. I am sorry that due to the expense, this is not going to be a regular thing though. Can't imagine the meal without the wine pairings, so it was not an inexpensive night out. But due to the size of the restaurant (we saw 22 seats) and only two seatings on weekends, this is more art as food, so be prepared. But if it is is your budget, do not hesitate! They will not disappoint!"

  • "Loved everything except the noise level. If they tackle that issue it would be great. I wear earing aids and the noise level is deafing. My date and I could hardly hear each other. The food, the service and the decoration are superb. Thanks.."

  • "This creative little restaurant offered outstanding and knowledgable service, an unexpected array of treats to eat - including small bites not on the featured menu, and a bag of freshly baked Madelines to take home at dinners end. Very, very creative and unusual eats. This place is not for a MW-steak and potato eaters. It's perfect for the adventurous eater who wants to experience all the culinary skills of very sophisticated chefs."

  • "We drove 200 miles to have dinner at State & Lemp. It was a birthday for a friend, who is a chef and a group of foodies. We were not disappointed! Everything about the place is different, exceptional and excellent. We all had a wonderful time that we will always remember. One of our group had a pork allergy and they bent over backwards to accommodate her situation. Very impressive. We are now looking forward to another special occasion to visit again!"

  • "We had a great time at State and Lemp! food was great! I loved the different flavors and the wines that complimented each dish! The food courses were presented lovely and it was not too much or too small of portion! (it was just right!) I felt the tables were set up so we would interact with neighbors.... we met an amazing couple and had some amazing conversation! was great for our night out and we plan on having a group outing to come back and enjoy the next menu!!"

  • "The meal is an adventure in food and wine. The staff guide you through a dining experience you will not have in any other restaurant in Boise. It is a little pricey but worth every dollar. If you leave Boise and never visit this restaurant you have missed a dining experience that is a gem of Idaho. The menu is the same for about a month and then it changes. Please don't be skeptical of items you have never tried which are on the menu as you will not die or be disappointed when you try them. It was a culinary adventure which we definitely will do again."

  • "This was one of the best meals I've ever had, if not the best. The food is incredible. The combination of flavors, the presentation and the wine pairings were beyond wonderful. The service is professional and, yet, friendly and warm. You'll have a world class meal in a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere, which is an ideal combination. Yes, you'll pay more, but if you love great food and great wine and excellent service it will be worth it. I would travel to Boise just to have a meal at State & Lemp."

  • "Best dinner experience ever! Yes it is pricy, but worth it. I tried food I would never order because it is a prix fixe menu and it was decadent! Such a great "experience" from every angle, I just loved it."

  • "Absolutely an outstanding restaurant! My husband and I have had similar experiences in much bigger cities - but never in Boise. The food, the wine, the service and the attention to detail were amazing. I have extensive dietary restrictions and every one was met. We will definitely go back and recommend it to all of our friends and visitors to Boise."

  • "The food was beautiful tasting and looking. Service was exceptional. There were a few things i noticed which caused the food score from my review to be reduced.1. The serving size appeared appropriate but i have never gone to a dinner that costed so much and left hungry. Even the party sitting next to me agreed, even one roll of bread would have satisfied our hunger sufficiently. The party next to me even verbalized that we wanted rolls, no acknowledgement or offer of rolls or bread was made. 2. I was charged for 5 drinks the same as the group next to me but both of them drank the wine, where only one drank from my party. But, i was charged the same amount. I have never been to a place where they give sample sizes of wine with meal"

  • "I have been in the restaurant business as a manger and a owner my whole life and I eat out like its my job. living in San Francisco and being in the industry I have been to more than my fair share of Michelin restaurants. I just ate at Beast in Portland the weekend before and Saison the previous weekend. Needles to say I had high expectations for the place considering the price for Boise. They knocked it ouf of the park.I was blown away with what they did with the building and decor. Everything from being greeted by the staff with a glass of Prosecco to the parting gift are perfectly executed. The space is amazing. the staff is wonderful and the food is unforgettable. Unmatched attention to detail. Perfect!"

  • "The menu we enjoyed was wonderful. The staff was attentive and our server was perfect. It is a very small space but didn't feel too cramped, however I would be a but nervous to go there during a full dining service as there are no separate tables and my husband and I like our privacy. Overall we had a great time together tasting incredible food."

  • "An outstanding addition to the Treasure Valley. Well worth every penny. Great match of wines to food. Five to Seven Courses, five to ten bites each - perfect bliss. Not too much of any one thing - just right. Great service."

  • "The family at State & Lemp have found the perfect combination of atmosphere, food and service- you feel like you are at an intimate dinner party. We have been here twice and have loved it each time. We're looking forward to seeing what these talented chefs do as the seasons change."

  • "State & Lemp is an outstanding experience; the meal was secondary. I mean that from the perspective that you really should not go there to eat, per se. For us, it was to savor and enjoy the considerable attention to detail and unique (at least to our palets) blending of flavors orchestrating into a rapasody. We are certainly not foodies however, we have dined at top-level eateries in Napa & Sonoma counties as well as San Francisco. We were impressed. All aspects of our dining adventure was exceptional. The food being the allure; and the decor electic and a modern bent. The real deal are the owners, chefs and ALL of the staff. A passion and genuine enjoyment for what they do is evident and contagageous. Impecable service, really."

  • "From the cut communal table, designed by co-founder Remey's dad, from one piece of wood to the delicious five course dinner, State and Lemp is the only fine dining place worth accolades in Boise. My wife and I spent our two year wedding anniversary with a room full of strangers, for the most part, and it was a wonderful experience. It feels like a dinner party that you are privileged to be invited to, only they make you feel like you are the special guest. Service was off the charts amazing, and the food was incredible. The rabbit course was outlandish!! So amazingly good and tender. Some may die to taste the rabbit con fit just once again! It is pricey, but the juice is worth the squeeze. Go...Just GO."

  • "the fixed menu offering is exquisite in its plannning and execution, presentation and delivery. each dish is a unique and artistic, with an unexpected combination of tastes, flavors and textures. Attention to detail is primo. Wines to accompany each course are thoughtfully selected and appropriate. Attitude of staff and service in general is five star. The owners have done wonders in adapting a relatively small and condensed space into an artfully orgainzed venue for dinner. You have to experience this. One of a kind in Boise and would make waves in any city...yes, any city."

  • "If your wanting to take your significant other to a very romantic restaurant this is the place. The owners Remi & Jay have made it their goal to have you and yours in mind while having the best dinning experience. The staff is top shelf without a doubt, informing you as the different courses are served. The food is exceptional, local fresh and exquisite. This is a must for a one of a kind dinning experience."

  • "It is clear that these restaurateurs are passionate about food. There was such attention to detail--from the decor to the table settings and especially the dishes. The courses were beautifully prepared and artfully arranged. The flavors were harmonious and perfectly seasoned. Our servers were knowledgeable and friendly--they didn't hesitate to linger when we had questions about the preparation. This small venue is a big city experience and not to be missed!"

  • "The food, the service, and the space were all fantastic! I will go back there in a New York minute. I even scheduled our office Christmas party for this reataurant only halfway through the meal on my first visit to the restaurant. One significant criticism, though: it is too loud for good conversation across the table. It is a small, confined, so the house music (which was tasteful and fun) needs to be turned down."
