  • "Food is great and ambience is wonderful, although servers need a little training and need to be more attentive to smaller tables. Our server spent most of her time with a large party and pretty much ignored us. She also did not do the "attention to detail" type things one would expect at a restaurant in this price range and caliber (for instance pouring the wine from the bottle for the second glass; it became "serve yourself" after she put it on the table). Still, it was a nice dinner (the food was excellent) and I would go back to this restaurant."

  • "We really enjoyed our lunch last weekend at the Stable Cafe. They seated us promptly in our "stable" and our server was excellent. We were with some out of town guests and they were so impressed with the ambiance...really cool! Our meals were served quickly and they were delicious. We are season pass holders to the Biltmore and will be sure to try the Stable Cafe dinner as well."

  • "We went to The Stable Cafe on Valentine's Day as a treat. It was fun to see how they changed a stable into a lively restaurant. The food was good and it is always nice to be on the Biltmore Estate. We are season pass holders and so we also received a discount - a nice plus."

  • "The food here is a lot of estate grown or locally grown which is awesome. I had the bison burger with pimento cheese spread. Way too much cheese spread, which made it almost impossible to eat without a fork and knife. French Fries were my favorite -- absolutely delicious. Service was not rated as excellent because when they brought refill drinks, empty glasses were left on the table. Also, when I asked for another napkin it took a long time to get one (and I really needed due to messy burger). It was a nice start to our afternoon at Biltmore Estate. Wish that they would add some small bites on their menu, as these are really dinner sized meals, and I would love burger bits, or more luncheon sized meals as an option."

  • "Four of us went their for a quick lunch between Biltmore tours and it was perfect. I had the barbeque and it was outstanding along with the slaw. The service was efficient and courteous. The ambience was unique so all in all it was the perfect lunch solution!"

  • "We choose The Stable due to its convenient location and proximity to the Biltmore Estate. We had been to The Stable previously for lunch and I would recommend this restaurant for lunch, but not for dinner. Our dinner experieince was not the best. The salad was great but the vegetable dish my friends' had was overcooked. My steak was grilled correctly but it was not the best cut of meat. My friend had to send her steak back, as it was tough. Spoon bread was tasteless. The server was great and very focused on us having a great experieince. She was personable and very interested in us. She represented the Biltmore well. Our dessert was just okay .... The Stable was very convenient and again was better for lunch than for New Year's Eve dinner."

  • "Our family group of 5 made reservations for the Stable Cafe for 1.5 hours before our house tour time. The timing was perfect, as we were seated at our table on time, served in an efficient but unrushed manner, and left with time to explore the Stable shops before the house tour began. We admired the variety of menu items with different ingredients, preparations, and sides from the usual fare at other casual restaurants. Each of us enjoyed the food immensely. The stable atmosphere is fun and authentic. We recommend this restaurant. We will definitely make eating there a part of our next visit to the Biltmore House."

  • "Everything on the menu could best be described as comfort food taken up a notch. My collard greens were the best I ever had. So good we got the recipe. My husbands hand made sausages were delicious. We did have an issue with a bus boy dropping a tray of dishes on me. To their credit they cleaned it up and paid my dry cleaning bill and comped the meal. I have to say that they handled much better than many restaurants would have and therefore we will be back Had a waiter I think we've had before. Excellent service"

  • "Everything looked so good; we couldn't decide what to order. With that being said, we selected chicken salad (divine), the sampler platter - ribs, pulled pork, and chicken, brunswick stew and the bison burger. Everything was delicious and our server Kevin was fantastic."

  • "We ate in one of the "stalls" which typically go quickly. This was the barn used by the Vanderbilt family for housing its horses, and it is massive. Server was delightful. Food was expensive (3-courses included) but quality was good. Portions were appropriate. I had the ribeye which was very good, along with garlic mashed potatoes (I substituted that for broccoli). I wanted the gnocchi but they wouldn't allow that as a side item (it was one of the main dishes). Again, it's a fun experience, not overly romantic (quite loud, actually) and the food/service was excellent."

  • "We decided to brave Biltmore on their busiest night of the year - Dec 28th - and were happy to get out of the crowds and into the relative quiet of the Stable Cafe. It is the old stable after all, so the vaulted space encourages sound - however the booth set up in one of the stalls was cozy and made conversation possible without raising one's voice. Since we were there during Xmas, the decorations added a lovely glow to the space - but I imagine it would be a nice venue throughout the year based on their attention to detail in the decorations. As for the pre-fix menu: the potato soup, salmon and warm eggnog bread pudding were fabulous - the other meal of beet/goat cheese salade and berry tart was excellent, but the steak was too grissly."

  • "My husband had never been to Biltmore Estates. I had recently visited with friends. We had dined in the Stables and I thought that the atmosphere was great. We used to own a farm and have helped to run a farm all of our 28 years as a couple. I knew that my husband would enjoy the atmosphere of this dining experience so I made reservations. He did love the workmanship that was involved in the building of the barn and he also loved the food. We had a wonderful time!"

The steaks were not prepared correctly and had to send back. The steak also was very fatty with gristle. Not worth what we paid for the meal."

  • "The bacon creamed corn was out of this world! My daughter and I don't enjoy collard greens so they honored our request for buttermilk mashed potatoes which were really yummy. We were undecided about what to eat so we had the sample plate for two all the meats were good but for the ribs, baked chicken and pulled pork , the pulled pork was the best. Great tangy BBQ sauce on the side. Can't speak to dessert as we were too stuffed with lunch to try any."

The restaurant is quite busy in the evenings, but it does present a place where you can go and get dressed up and have a delicious three course meal.   • "The Evening Dining at Stable Café is: (1) Expensive ($100 for two min.); (2) Very Historic and Interesting to inspect, gaze at, take pictures of and just simple sit in one of the stalls and have your dinner at and enjoy - and truly wonderful experience; (3) no romantic atmosphere; (4) as always with the restaurants at Biltmore, the food is excellent, (5) take a jacket or sweater because it tends to be a little chilly in there."

  • "The lunch menu had an excellent variety of hearty entrees. Our entrees were above average and we tried a little of each from our party of three. Dessert was excellent but must be shared. The Pot de Creme for dessert was " to die for". We had reservations for noon on a busy Christmas visiting day at the Biltmore and were served very quickly. From our table the chefs in the semi open kitchen were fun to watch."

  • "I do not mind paying a reasonable price for the food I eat. I am no cheap scape. Like most other people I work hard for my money. $36.00 for half a chicken or $44.00 for a steak,I don't care what cut it is, is way over priced in my opinion. We did not dine at the Stables Cafe. We excused ourselves with our waiter and left. We had no problem with our waiter. He was very polite and invited us to come back. We are planing a return trip to the BiltMore with our son and grand children next year. However after discussing the menus prices with him we do not plan to make Dinner reservations."

  • "The truth is that despite having a reservation, we were placed behind other parties of people who did not have reservations. In fact, our party of diners was told to go back outside the restaurant and pick up a pager. After waiting 15-20 minutes, our pager went off and we went to the host station where we waited another 15 minutes. Again, people who did not have reservations or pagers were walking up to the host station and promptly being seated. Hmmm... Once we were actually seated, the service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive and quite knowledgeable of the menu items. The food was very enjoyable. Would I eat at the Stable Cafe?...Yes Would I make another reservation?... recommended, but it obviously did not help"

  • "Got a reservation at 8:00 PM. We were there at 7:45 and sent to the second floor. We waited at least 10 minutes before someone acknowledged us. They had a group of 55 people before us and they were swamped. We have been brought to our table and waited another 10 minutes before we saw the server. When everything started being in place (orders, wine, conversation), it happened to be a very nice dinner. The food was very good (on the lukewarm side though), the bread unusually great, and the dessert was nicely presented. They have great coffee (their own brew). But don't make any special trip for it. It could have been much better. Every time I have been there, I ran into some problem."

  • "Interior of restaurant classy - the stable/horse theme notable. Service provider was exceptional; we were able to chat a little with our waitress which made the experience very personal. Food was pricey and limited. I opted for the prime rib, but thought it could be better - it contained a lot of fat. Wine was very good as well as the bread pudding dessert. I would recommend this restaurant."
