  • "We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Whilst elements of the dinner were outstanding - the service was wonderful, and the majority of the food was delicious, unfortunately my dry-aged sirloin steak was burnt to a crisp. The kitchen tried to hide this by turning the steak so that the least burnt side was showing. In only wanting a medium, this was a disappointing outcome, especially considering their reputation as a preeminent Houston steak-house. Being English, I was, of course, far too polite to demand a new one, especially considering the time it took for it to be originally cooked and the fact that my fellow guests were tucking into their dinners with gusto and vigor. This was SUCH a shame - it spoiled the evening for me."

  • "To be fair in this review I should point out this was stop 6 in an epic journey of the best steakhouses in this area of Houston with a client over a long period of days. If I would have started here I may have given them a better review. Having said that the total bill was up there with my top pick, Del Frisco's, so I would expect them to be as good. They were not. I got the three filet with three toppings plate, I asked for medium but what came out was medium well. Since each steak came with a large amount of toppings/seasonings I let it go, I knew I wouldn't really be able to tell the difference. My cohort in steaking asked for medium rare and his came out more medium, know this. Overall the cajun was overpowering, but the Gorgonzola A+"

  • "First of all our server was outstanding. Not too chatty, not overly attentive and definitely more refined then the server I had that evening at another restaurant! Young and very aware of the nature of our meal. Business interview. If I could I would have hired her. My crabcake was wonderful (would have preferred 2 for the price though) fresh crab and not a lot of fillers. The salmon that both of my guests had was dry and our server graciously took one of them back brought out a fresh one and new veggies as well-since the rest of us finished the asparagus and the spinach!"

  • "It was weird...no hostess to greet us for a few minutes. Was finally greeted by a waiter then instructed us to go up stairs to the second hostess desk. Still no one around. I think they were short on staff so they seem to struggle a bit. Food was good though. Our waiter was nice."

Due to the holiday weekend the city was I crowded and so was the restaurant. As such it was quiet AND the wait staff was very attentive. This made the wonderful food that much better. Great time had by all!!!"

  • "What a wonderful time we had celebrating Mother's Day for three mothers and birthdays for two others in our party. S&W staff are extremely professional and courteous. The starters, sides, and entrees were delicious, some being crafty spins on old favorites (like the truffled mac and cheese). A little pricey but, you get what you pay for. An all-around fabulous evening for my family."

  • "We have been several times but we asked to be seated outside to enjoy the evening. The server didn't introduce himself and seemed annoyed when we wanted the full menu and not just bar menu. We ordered a full three courses and drinks. Still rude and could not care any less we were there. Even after mentioning since it was my birthday, I wanted cake to go, he didn't even care to say anything but an obligatory 'thanks for coming in.'. For the money we spent and would have tipped - he should have at least attempted to be nice. My steak was amazing as usual. So was the cake. But server dude ruined it. "

  • "I was looking for a quick lunch for three of us. I asked specifically to be served quickly. We had to ask again to get order taken as this did not happen. Main course seeved finally 35 minutes after we arrived making a very rushed meal. Menu us expensive and quality was absolutely not in line with cost. Two steaks ordered - one medium and other medium rare - came both overbooked. Other plate was mediocre at best. "

  • "Excellent food quality and great presentations but the service (at least our server) was terrible. My wife and I went there for a late lunch after some serious shopping and we ordered our food and two half bottles of wine. We kept reminding our server that we would like to have our wine before we finish our meal. Needless to say that the two bottles finally showed up after we finished. Very disappointing."

The tables in the upstairs dining room are nicely spaced--no elbow bumping here. It is quiet so private conversations can be had without shouting or sharing with the next table."

  • "The Marinated Cajun Rib Eye was moist and tender; however, I am not sure where the Cajun flavor was. You must take home a bottle of the Wollensky steak sauce. The stuffed jumbo shrimp with lump crab meat and garlic butter should be renamed. The shrimp was huge in size but bland in flavor. I missed the stuffing and it tasted like cocktail shrimp sprinkled lightly with crab meat. The Creamed Spinach and Grilled Asparagus portion size are indeed for a healthy appetite and scrumptious. The bacon lardons in the salad reminded me of my days living in a rural Texas area having a slab of bacon from the smokehouse cooked to perfection. I can still savor the tasty slice of cheesecake."

  • "Our last visit was for a birthday celebration with a large party, but we visit often as a family (with a young child), extended family or a couple of friends for cocktails. The staff is so accommodating and professional, we are always pleased with the service and experience. The menu is always the same, but every food offering is quality. The cocktail list is extensive, as are the wine choices (although the list is packed with common, name brands). It's a bit of a splurge relative to so many other great restaurants in Houston, but I stand beside its five stars since it always delivers what is expected. It's definitely a place where memories are made."

  • "My Fiance and I really enjoy eating here. We have a special booth that we sit at every time. We have celebrated our 2 years anniversary there. The service and food here is excellent! I really love their bone in rib-eye and Wollensky Salad. The creamed spinach is the best I have ever had and of course don't let me forget the Rosemary/Sea Salt Buttered Rolls..... to die for."

  • "We ate in the main dining room upstairs, which is a large brightly lit space, however , despite the tablecloths, the ambiance is more of a cafeteria than why one would think of as a traditional steakhouse. Drink service was slow, appetizer brought to the table before the drinks. For the price, I would go somewhere with more atmosphere and more elegant service. However, I can attest that the bar was lively, and in the past they have offered some great happy hour specials."

  • "My wife and I attended this location to celebrate her graduating college and getting her first job post-graduation. The prices at this type of location is on the high side for us and some place that we would treat as a special occasion. My wife had the crab cake for her entrée and it was great. I had the 24oz. bone-in rib eye and it was par at best (not worth $50) but decent. The biggest upset came with the sides. Creamed spinach had no flavor and you could tell by its appearance that it wouldn't be all that good and the hashed brown potatoes were just a big pile of potatoes crisped on top in the oven, no seasoning or flavor. I doubt I will be a repeat visitor. Vic & Anthony's from here on out. Side note - the staff was excellent."

  • "My husband and I enjoy this place for special occasions and sometimes a business dinner. We were celebrating my husband's birthday this day. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a family with two young children, and the parents did very little to minimize their frequent and loud outbursts which led us to have a much less enjoyable time. They watched cartoons on an iPad at the table! I fault the person who seated us, or them. We should have been in a different locations. We asked to move an outdoor table to finish our wine and have dessert. We were told we would be compensated for our displeasure, but only our dessert was paid for. And usually restaurants will do that anyway for a birthday. Left unimpressed."

  • "Have been a regular for S&W's Wine Week. Nuri has served us before and is extremely personable, knowledgeable about the wines being served, and an asset to the restaurant. We enjoyed a long leisurely lunch, and they had no problem with is staying nearly 4 hours. Love the Wine Week. Wish is was 4 times a year instead of just twice!"

  • "Went for a special promotion but when we arrived, there was nothing fun (signs, hosts) promoting the special. The waiter brought us regular menus and I had to ask for the pre-set menu even though I noted on the comments "celebrating Steak and BJ Day" when I made the reservation on-line. Our waiter was courteous but not very friendly or attentive, rarely smiled until we asked another staff for steak sauce. After our meal, we walked into the bar and lots of people were having fun. Unfortunately after working all day, I was tired and couldn't stay to enjoy the live music. It was a little overpriced when I think of the snooty waiter but worth every penny to see the smile on my husband's face when he realized what we were celebrating."

We realize that it may be challenging to accommodate a group of our size, but staffing issues should have been worked out beforehand considering our reservation was confirmed weeks in advance."
