Diner Reviews
  • "We drove up from Boulder for a get away. It exceeded expectations on every level. Had a great time "

  • " My husband and I look forward to dining as often as we can at the Ski Tip Lodge in Keystone and enjoy our evenings there. However, our latest experience will make it our last. As usual, the ambience, wine list and service were all excellent. My husband had ordered the Angus tenderloin and I the venison as the Ski Tip does meat so well. But the next morning I awoke with intestinal problems that were attributed to the prior evenings meal at the Ski Tip Lodge. Not what one is to expect from this caliber a restaurant. Hence I experienced an uncomfortable day after our evening and was very surprised and disappointed with the Ski Tip Lodge. "

  • "Had company in town and brought them there. They were so impressed as we always are. They know they're food and they're wines. Very attentive and friendly wait staff. We'll be back."

  • "We enjoyed everything from the excellent gourmet food to the ambiance. We tried the Grouper and the Venison. Both were delicious. Desserts served in a separate room by the fireplace were to die for too. Couldn't have improved anything."

  • "Great concentration was made on presentation but food was only fair. Very disappointing. Won't recommend to anyone."

  • "The restaurant is in a beautiful log cabin (that is also a B&B!) with plenty of character and charm in an intimate and quiet environment. You start in the dining area and finish with desert in one of the sitting rooms next to beautiful fireplaces, wood beams and great views. Service is friendly, professional, and overall first rate. Food, oh the food...We regularly sample the latest and 'best' restaurants in our area and seek out the most recommended offerings when traveling, and I can tell you without hesitation that Ski Tip Lodge is an incredible, can't miss experience. There is a demonstration of culinary genius here that is rare to find. We can't wait to come back and will dreaming of our next dinner here at the Ski Tip Lodge!"

  • "This is my 3rd time having dinner at the Ski Tip, and my 3rd time leaving not only totally satisfied, but absolutely impressed! The staff is incredible, and food is always unique and captivating, and I would highly recommend having their awesome Sommelier pair great wines perfectly with each course for you. Finish with dessert by the fireplace! I cant wait until I have the opportunity to join them again!"

  • "Dinner at the Ski Tip Lodge has been a valued "family tradition" for many years. In the past two years, there have been some disappointments in both food quality and quality of service. I don't mind paying "top dollar", but I expect "top value". For example, I don't like to be rushed between courses, but the delays were way too long -- and there was no follow-up between courses (e.g., to pour wine). The duck was over cooked, over garnished, and over seasoned. Your couldn't ask more ambiance, but there need to be more of a focus on food and services -- especially for those prices."

  • "If you are anywhere in the Keystone area - you MUST visit this unique spot. It is tucked away in a beautiful setting and you feel as though you are dining in your own cabin with a roaring fire and 5 star quality food. The service is outstanding complete with a sommelier who will guide you to exactly what you need to put the meal over the top. I loved every minute of my experience and it had the perfect conclusion with coffee and dessert fireside on a comfy couch."

  • "Dining at the Ski Tip Lodge can be summed up in one word: EXCEPTIONAL. Living in the NYC area, we are are a bit spoiled when it comes to restaurants. When we ski in Colorado, we have come the expect mediocre meals as the norm. The Ski Tips Lodge is the exception. We have dined there two times in two months. The food, the service, the ambiance... everything was perfect both times. Highly recommend the Ski Tips Lodge as a dining experience. The only caveat is: it's all down hill from there! (small joke for anyone who has been there)."

  • "Ski Top's daily-changing, four-course, multi-selection menu must not be missed. The setting, outside and inside, is perfect for the surroundings . When visiting, try to sit with Todd; and be sure to engage Meagan, the restaurant's personable wine steward. This is a world-class establishment."

  • "Ski Tip is a classic work of Art in Keystone. Food and drinks are first rate and the service is timed very well - you won't feel rushed at all. Gary D."

  • "After hearing about this restaurant for years, & reading fantastic diner review after review, I was worried I might be a little disappointed or have an expectation that's too high. Not to worry--all was fantastic. Food, setting, service & ambience is just about as good as it gets. Wine list is great, with plenty of help to make selections to go with dinner. This restaurant equals my favorites in NYC, Chicago, San Francisco & Dallas. A 'must' visit if you're in the area."

  • "Went with another couple for a vacation dinner. Flew 2000 miles just to go back to this restaurant and ski one day. Worth the trip"

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed a romantic anniversary dinner and will return again and again. From the time we entered and were greeted to the time we were done but not wanting to leave. The dining room is small, quaint and quiet. The service was impeccable as well as the wine list (and help in selecting). The four course meal was amazing and then we found out the regular chef was off that night and the young (21 year old) "chef in training" prepared a masterful presentation."

  • "The menu changes regularly, so no going back for favorites, but the food was wonderful as on previous occasions. We did the wine pairing, which allowed everyone to have unique and appropriate wines with each course, and Megan does an great job of choosing and explaining each wine. The pepper crusted venison and the carignane was great together. My only negative would be that most of the desserts were a little to complicated for my tastes (too many flavors in one dessert) but the Meyer Lemon Cheesecake was very good."

  • "As always, Ski Tip Lodge did not let me down. Delicious food, a quaint and romantic space, and sincerely friendly Colorado service makes this place my favorite restaurant in the world. The only negative I could think of isn't really much of a negative because our deserts were delicious, but rather a note to Ski Tip. Bring back the cobbler!"

  • "Ski Tip Lodge is the best restaurant in Summit County. It's expensive, but the food is excellent, the service is the best, and the ambience is unique. It is a log cabin lodge that once served as a former stage coach house back in the day before roads existed over the pass. Then it was the home of Edna and Max Dercum, who founded Keystone. Today, it is a romantic B&B and excellent restaurant."

  • "We keep coming back to the Ski Tip Lodge to stay & dine. Food, Service, Ambiance, are all SUPERB! Go back in time & Stop Time for awhile while you soak in nature's healing & gracious treatment. The very best in gourmet dining, top wine selections, rustic charm, staff that treat you like royalty & work together better than any family."

  • "It was a picture perfect night from the moment we arrived. The staff was attentive, very knowledgeable, and professional. As each course arrived, our server explained each dish. This shows such pride in their work. The sommelier asked detailed questions before recommending the wine pairing. The dining room was cozy and quite small. Dessert was served in the lounge area with a fire in the fireplace and it contained several comfortable seating areas. Through the large picture window we could see the snow gently falling. It was almost like a movie set! It was expensive but SO worth it. Highly recommended and we will be back!"

  • "Absolutely an outstanding restaurant and always a wonderful meal. Plus it threads together some of the history of Colorado and the ski industry. My wife and I have dined there since the 1980s and are always excited to return when we are in Colorado. The Ski Tip is easily one of the best restaurants in Colorado, and I would place in the top 2 or 3. The food and service are among the best in the world. Michelin should discover it: worth a one or two start rating."

  • "This is actually a B&B, but I think they are better known for their dinner. The building is an old stage stop. It is a log cabin with low doorways -- tall people must duck! The ambiance is very cool, and not noisy. Dinner is a prix fixe four-course meal, at around $75/person ++. The menu changes. You select each course from a list of 2-5 options. When I was there, they didn't have any main course vegetarian options, so I would call ahead, if that is your need. The preparations were unusual, delightful, and tasted excellent! I strongly consider branching out of your comfort zone and trying something new. Dessert is ordered in a sitting room, complete with fireplace. Brilliant! No worries about vacating a table so others can dine."

  • "An old lodge with very miss able signage. Failed by GPS again. Dinner is a well composed for course meal. Soup and salad/appetizer courses come with two choices each. We had a New England clam chowder less rich than some, but packed with multiple layers of flavor. My wife enjoyed a 7 ingredient blue cheese salad with 3 types of lettuce. My appetizer with poached shrimp, chicken, Brussels sprouts had good flavor but the proteins were a bit over cooked. Main courses, a choice of 5, were very good. My wife had the peppered venison, I had an excellent lamp chops with a honey/basil sauce I will be making at home. Desserts have a wide selection. Service is top notch. Atmosphere is charming. We will definitely return."

  • "After years of dining here..and then away for six years...we worried that things might have changed but once again we enjoyed a wonderful meal served by an excellent waitstaff. Our party had some challenging allergy issues that the chef and waiter handled easily without a loss of any food quality. As always it was a great evening."

  • "The ambiance of the Ski Tip is incredible. Moving in front of the fire after dinner is something that I have never experienced before. The food is delicious throughout every course combining presentation with flavors that pop. The service could be improved by ensuring people's glasses, both water and drinks are full at all times. We had to wait for drink refills and saw some diners waiting on their table waiting on pre-dinner drinks - even to the point they had to go find a server. The service for food, clearing plates, taking orders, and meeting other needs was excellent."

  • "Always the superior restaurant in Summit County. Excellent on all counts. Christina is the best waitress and Megen knows her wines . Over the years this is the most consistent and unique restaurant skiing visitors and locals alike can depend on for a perfect dinner. Leave room for the deserts."

  • "We arrived 20 minutes early and we directed to the lower level sitting room. We were seated within 10 minutes. We ordered selections from the prix fixe menu. My wife had the lamb chop, I enjoyed the beef tenderloin. The selections and the accompanying items were excellent and served right on the correct tempo. After dinner, we were invited to return to the sitting room to enjoy desert in front of the fire, a nice touch considering the temperature outside was below zero. From an ambience standpoint, I especially enjoy the pre and post dinner seating in one of the two fireplace rooms. Very cool."

  • "our meal was greatly enhanced by the wines selected for each dish. We each had different menu selections, so one bottle couldn't have complimented each flavor profile. The price was quite reasonable and we would reccomend this approach to a couple dining at always wonderful Ski Tip Lodge."

  • "Probably the best service, best food - and most importantly - the best overall experience in the mountains! We've been coming one to two times per year for about 6 or 7 years now. The menu is always a four course - 4 or 5 choices of entree - fixed price meal. Very small, intimate dining room - great for couples or small groups looking to celebrate a special occasion. Megan rocks with her in depth knowledge of every bottle of wine in their cellar! The meal is always incredible. Desert is served in one of the fireplace rooms adjacent to the dining room. You'll definitely love this place!"

  • "You have to go with 4 courses and there are at least 2 choices for each, more for entrees and desserts. Everything we had was outstanding. Very interesting wine list as well. A splurge but very nice."

  • "This is our second visit to the lodge and they do not disappoint. The menu changes every night and that keeps the experience fresh while never dropping from excellent! The wait staff and sommelier know their business and make you fell very welcome and informed. If you come through this area, you have to stop here. They are one of the few in the mountains that are on open table and that makes it easier to get in!"

  • "I have dined at Ski Tip lodge several times and always have a great meal at a reasonable price. It comparis with some of the best restaraunts from my home town of Chicago. Recommend the wine pairing with dinner, it adds some fun and adventure to try different wines. Megan provides an interesting background on each of the wines selected."

  • "We have dined here numerous times and have had nothing short of wonderful meals and great service. We brought friends along this last visit and once again every bite, taste and moment were perfect. We chose the wine pairing option for the table and were just amazed at how beautifully matched the selections were."

  • "She said to him...when he wondered why they were waiting in the wonderful lodge room for their table. This is a "romantical evening"...no hurries, no worries. Its part of the experience of dining at the Ski Tip Lodge. Todd, our server, was knowledgeable, attentive, always there, yet not obtrusive and never interrupted the flow of conversation - the sign of great service! The food is excellent and the wine pairings superb. Retiring back to the lodge for dessert and after dinner drinks, we met a fabulous couple and chatted for over an hour. Wonderful. When we were returning home to Maryland and asked each other, "what was the highlight of the trip"....he answered "our romantical evening at the Ski Tip Lodge"."
