About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
Amuse is a seasonal, farm to table driven restaurant, located on the third floor of the museum. Whether you are dining in our main dining room, full-service bar, or our private dining room, you will be able to take in sweeping views of the Robins Sculpture Garden and the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. Our team works diligently to provide a menu that is directly inspired by the art-filled surroundings, current exhibitions, and seasonality while also carefully selecting only the finest ingredients from local vendors, artisans, and farmers. Just a friendly reminder that the museum does not allow balloons, confetti, glitter, plants potted with soil, and candles with open flames. If a date and time you seek for a reservation appears to be full, please give us a call so we can see what other times might be available.

Excellent food and our server, Brian was simply wonderful! We cannot wait to come back for dinner and try the Wagu steak with this marvelous Mexican inspired potato dish! 😊

We have enjoyed dining at Amuse a number of times with pleasure. This recent experience was disappointing at best. On the positive side, the hostess was very helpful and willing to seat us outside the noisy and over-crowded dining room. We had a reservation, but felt like walk-ins at a chain eatery. Our server was rushed and prone to pass over information about the wine and entrees. He thought that substituting a glass of Muscadet with a glass of Prosecco would be ok. My husband's crab cakes were overcooked, Serving a dry crab cake in the South is unforgivable. The greens on both our entrees were wilted and a lifeless garnish to what could have been a great start to wonderful entrees. Our hope is that we can return to Amuse soon and find that the attention to detail and dining excellence is restored.

Dining at Amuse is always a pleasurable experience. My son & i dined there to celebrate his birthday & the service was exceptional. The food & cocktails were delicious. I absolutely loved the Frida Kahlo focus. They provided us with menus acknowledging his birthday & provided a free birthday sorbet dessert that made him feel extra special. The fact that our server remembered me from dining there frequently just added to the specialness of our dining experience. I absolutely love dining at Amuse. It will always be one of my favorite places to dine in RVA.

All was excellent except it was a bit noisy where we were seated- lively conversation at the bar across from our table. Still a very pleasant lunch,

As always, everything was perfect. It was a bit on the loud side, but that's to be expected on a Wednesday evening with Jazz playing on the first floor. Our service was impeccable, and the food was plated beautifully, delivered timely, and beyond delicious. One of my favorites for celebrations, I'll be back soon!

We came for the Frida exhibit but stayed for a toasty cheese platter and wine. Delightful.

They were excellent in accommodating our hearing impaired guests. Everything was perfect. We are all still miffed at the Nick and Nora glasses. Two of my friends said they would pay more for a normal size drink.

We were disappointed. We used to come to Amuse regularly but not much recently. Food was over priced, service was so so. Virginia Mary drink was worst one I have ever had. I watched her make it. 3 fingers of Worcester and 3 fingers of tomato juice on ice.. That was it. Not very good. Meal was rushed. Not coming back
