About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Innovative
  • Great for scenic views
Amuse is a seasonal, farm to table driven restaurant, located on the third floor of the museum. Whether you are dining in our main dining room, full-service bar, or our private dining room, you will be able to take in sweeping views of the Robins Sculpture Garden and the museum’s Cochrane Atrium. Our team works diligently to provide a menu that is directly inspired by the art-filled surroundings, current exhibitions, and seasonality while also carefully selecting only the finest ingredients from local vendors, artisans, and farmers. Just a friendly reminder that the museum does not allow balloons, confetti, glitter, plants potted with soil, and candles with open flames. If a date and time you seek for a reservation appears to be full, please give us a call so we can see what other times might be available.

I ordered the scallops and they were so salty that they puckered my mouth and I could not eat them. You could see the incrusted salt all over the scallops plus they were over cooked. I re-ordered the Bronzino and it was excellent.

Food and server were outstanding. Menu was creative. Rating for service would have been a five except for the outrageous service by the hostess. We had 6:30 reservation. We arrived at 6:15 after spending 1 1/2 hours in the museum. We were the only people at the entrance, nobody else was waiting to be seated and at least 1/3 of the tables in the restaurant appeared to be empty. The hostess - with an incredibly negative attitude - told us we were early, that our reservation was at 6:30, and that we should come back at the time we reserved. Really? Astonishing. The exchange put a negative pall on an otherwise really good experience.

Amuse is a knock-it-out-the-park venue! Beautiful atmosphere, creative cocktails plus a divine menu with top-notch prepared foods. (I especially appreciate that there is more than one way to get a superb, innovative vegetarian dish complemented with vegetarian sides.) All that and and EXCELLENT service, too. We had a great evening out with our two friends.

Amuse, for some time, has presented menus designed around the special exhibitions presented at the museum. They are always interesting and enlightening and enjoyable. The special menu for Freida Kahlo, though, is the best yet. The choice among entrees, appetizers and desserts was very difficult. The chef, Will Burgess, has outdone himself in creativity, presentation, and quality. Every bite of our lunch was swoonworthy. We can't wait to return.

As usual everything was spot on. My partner's shrimp was served over a blue corn polenta and my scallops were served over a Carolina and peanut mix. We love that the menu is changed often to highlight the current exhibit. Keep those tasty and unusual dishes coming kitchen! And don't forget the sunset view over the back lawn of the museum

The service was wonderful and the food was amazing. A little disappointed that they closed all the blinds and curtains. I understand they did it because other customers were complaining but it killed the ambiance for the rest of us
