---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

    It had been several years since we’ve been up to the Berghoff. Food was delicious and service attentive. It was a lovely touch that they gave on the house - a delectable slice of Black Forest cake for my wife’s birthday.

    We really enjoyed the food and 2 goats ale. Ended up taking home two cans of 2 goats back home with us. We will be back!!

    Highly recommend, we go here often when in the city. Excellent food and service, noise level on the low side so good place to bring people you want to talk with. Last night I had Spatzleknödle (sp?) Delicious! Not a heavy entree, which is what I wanted. Good atmosphere, reasonably priced.

    A wonderful meal was had by all of us. Although, I never had chicken schnitzel with marinara sauce it was delicious. Such history in this place. Would definitely recommend.

    Just had a salad and sandwich between us. Sandwich was good as was the salad, but not outstanding by any stretch. Nice quiet atmosphere for visiting with a long-time friend.

    I had the seared whitefish for lunch and it was delicious; our entrees came out promptly with very little wait time. Our waitress served our ice cream dessert with two spoons for us to share. I've been to the Berghoff many times and am always pleased with the food and service.

    Food and vibes were immaculate. The chicken schnitzel and creamed spinach was a highlight, as was the Black Forest cake!

    Just amazing experience: phenomenal beers, great chicken schnitzel, delicious spaetzel, tasty creamed spinach, and wonderful potato pancakes. What more could one ask for? Oh, and the old world setting.
