El objetivo del Barbareño es modelar y definir la gastronomía de la Costa Central. Se inspira en las tradiciones y especialidades de la zona, los manjares exclusivos de la región y los numerosos y notables proveedores con los que trabaja. Se esfuerza en capturar la esencia de un lugar o un sabor concreto, abarcando los matices que hacen de su comida y su bebida algo único y propio. Las reservaciones online están limitadas debido al espacio del salón.                                         The staff made our dinner a special event, especially our waiter who made excellent suggestions on the food and drink. We ate on the patio, which was quiet and comfortable. The plates were creative and delicious! All around wonderful time!

                                        Lovely anniversary dinner on the patio. Barbareno welcomed us w a nice sparkling Austrian rose Pinot noir. Attentive and friendly service and we loved they allow you to do a half platter of the market fish and still be able to get 1 or 2 other choices in.

                                        We ate outside and it was a bit noisly from traffic. To be fair there is inside seating, but we did not want to dine next to a family with small children so outside it was. Service is attentive, but careful on the upsell. We were told we could order as many as 6 dishes for the 2 of us. We finally settled on 3, which was enough, plus a shared dessert. The beet salad very good. The gnocchi flavorful, but drenched in sauce; I prefer my gnocci crispy. We ordered the fish for $75 for 2 people. It arrived raw. The romescu sauce on the fish is ok, but IMO if you grill the fish why not take advantage of the grill flavor and keep the sauce simple? They graciously apologized for the raw fish and comped us some bread. Their take on baked Alaska for dessert was the definite highlight. Very good. Overall, some tasty offerings, but if we return it's likely just to order a couple of salads, bread, and dessert. Not sure this place will make our regular rotation of SB restaurants.

                                        Work dinner with vendors. Had a lovely time sitting outside. It’s shared plates so we all got to pick something we wanted. Would highly recommend for a special night out.

                                        Barbareno offers a unique and innovative menu which celebrates the local bounty and reminds me why I love to live here. Our outside table was charming and a good choice for good weather. We enjoyed a variety of delicious bites: Ranchero Scotch Eggs, Cherry Burrata salad, Grilled Avocado, Garlic Scape Gnocchi and more. Excellent beer and wine options (lovely Stolpman red blend) --again highlighting the local offerings. Service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable -- really they make it look easy. This is my third time here and I will definitely be back. Thanks Barbareno!

                                        I had very high hopes after hearing this was highly recommended in Santa Barbara for fine dining but was left pretty disappointed. We came in on a Friday night and it wasn’t particularly busy - so we were surprised by how long everything took. Our server was personable and chatty, but after taking our wine request and first dish order, we waited 30–40 minutes without any drinks or check-ins. After noticing we were not being service and stopped him to follow-up, it became clear he had forgotten about us and even had to ask again what we ordered. Unfortunately, the attentiveness didn’t improve. I ended up asking the bussing staff for assistance instead as the night progress, even with many empty dining tables in the main room. While the server made an effort to turn things around with some light conversation, the overall service made the entire dinner an unpleasant experience. I wouldn’t recommend this spot as a fine dining option for a visit to Santa Barbara.
