When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.

She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food.

    This was a lovely experience. Though I have been to Graces many times, they sat us in a separate bar/table area just to the left of the reception podium. I never even knew it existed. I am now spoiled as I will be disappointed if I am not able to get seated there in the future. It had a wondeful ambiancve. The servers was first rate. They tended to us mindfully without being intrusive. The pork pot roast I had and the fried chicken my date had were great. She especially raived about the brussel sprouts. They were delicious. We did not mean to shut the place down as when we left all the tables in main dining area had been stacked. This was a bit embarrassing, but overall it was about as nice a dining experience as you could get. Nicely done.

    I loved being able to sit outside with quick friendly service. The Strawberry pancakes were delicious. Easy parking, short walk.

    We really enjoyed our lunch. It had been a long time since we visited Graces’s but we intend to visit more often. The beef stroganoff and chicken pot pie were absolutely delicious, the chicken and sausage spinach dish was good but I wouldn’t order it again. The banana pudding was amazing. The wine list was very good and well priced. Our waiter Justin was exceptional, attentive, knowledgeable kind, thank you Justin.

    We had a great time celebrating my Mom’s 75th Birthday. Our server was great. We had a small discrepancy on our bill we realized the next day. I called Grace’s and the manager Todd rectified the issues and apologized for the inconvenience. Definitely recommend!

    The food is delicious and came out FAST! If you can afford it, I highly recommend it. I had the smothered chicken fried chicken, my wife had the creole stuffed chicken.

    For some reason, this restaurant caught our eye on a recent trip to Houston, so we decided to eat there. To say that we were awed by the experience would be an understatement. The food was absolutely marvelous--the fried green tomatoes were so amazing I wish I had them in front of me right now. Spectacular service, and overall simply delightful experience.
