About this restaurant

Find the best ingredients, and don’t mess them up! Our philosophy since we opened our doors back in December 2010. Our commitment to responsibly sourcing our products shines through the daily offerings from our local farmers and constantly evolving chef’s pre-fixed daily menu.
Welcome to our home, come on in, sit down and enjoy the food our talented kitchen creates for you. Would you like a beer or wine pairing to go with your chef’s menu? We have crafted the best pairing for each so sit back and relax, we got you covered. Would you like to pick a unique bottle of beer or wine for your party? Perfect, we have that too.
Headed by Chef Bryce Gilmore, our chefs are committed to the relationships they have with our farmer friends and sharing their bounty on every plate carefully put together for our guests to enjoy.
We now take mostly reservations but walk ins are always more than welcome.

This was my second time at Barley Swine and I am so thrilled that everything was as great (or better!) than the first time. We enjoyed 14 delicious, beautiful and creative courses topped off with wonderful wine and beer pairings. Every course was a delight!

If you are even thinking about going here, do not heasitate. This is a unique experience and is not to be missed. You will not find this experience many other places. I would fly back to Austin just to eat at Barley Swine, and probably will.

We had their late spring menu which our server said was deemed one of the best they've ever created. I am a Chef, and every time I eat at this gem I learn something new. The food is both tasty and beautiful. Absolutely worth the $.

On my list of best ever! No complaints. It's a smaller place and it's difficult to get in, but with a little advance planning it's perfect.

I first ate at here several months ago and was so blown away by both the service and food I couldn't wait to return the next time we were in Austin. This time they've changed the format to a fixed price menu so not only was I forced to eat what they wanted me to, I didn't have a choice over how much I ate or what I was going to spend. There were a couple dishes that I didn't care for and wouldn't have ordered them had they still had the ala carte menu. I still think the food is some of the most innovative dishes out there, but I don't see us returning as long as they keep the fixed price "you're forced to eat 14 courses and pay for it" menu.

I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally dine at Barley Swine. It truly is an amazing experience. All the dishes were beautifully presented and absolutely delectable. It's going to be one of my go-to restaurants for celebrations and to impress out of town foodie friends.

Really great restaurant. We had the wine/beer pairing with our 13 course set menu and it is the way to go! The food was unbelievable and our waiter was so friendly, the entire experience was outstanding! Can't wait to try their sister restaurant Odd Duck:)

I have had the opportunity to have tasting menu at many fine restaurants over the years and this one rates as one of the best! Sat at the "captain's station" and watched the plates come out all night long. 13 courses on the night we dined at at $70 per person was a bargain for the quality, creativity, and taste of the dishes served. A bonus is that if you are wine lover, they will let you bring your own for a $20 corkage fee. For people like me that have a collection at home, this is a real plus. Every person who works there is energized and knowledgeable and wants you to have the best experience possible. I will definately go back next time I am in Austin!

70 dollars for a fixed 13 courses.,great value for the quality of the foid. My son had multiple food allergies but the ched was able to accomadate him on short notice..bravo!! His favorite was the lamb as well as the crispy rabbit...mine was the uni, pasta and fish course...well worth the trip. I told the chef he reminded me of Daniel Humm and Daniel Patterson creativity and attention to detail.
