The evening was a pleasant experience, as the food and service were of the highest quality. The noise level is too much, however, as we could barely hear one another across the table. It is our go to place for special occasion dining. The fish is always excellent and very fresh. My husband loves the lamb and this time was no exception. It was cooked to perfection. Our appetizer of crab cake was moist with chunks of crab throughout. Dessert was chocolate souffle which you have to order early as it takes 20minutes to prepare. Always hot and delicious. The chicken friend oysters are their trademark appetizer and they do not disappoint. As for entrees this time I had the 5 spice duck which as cooked to perfection and incredible. My wife had the cider braised pork shank which was fall off the bone tender and delicious as well....The salads were crisp and fresh and the walnut vinaigrette was tasty but not overwhelming.
Overall a spectacular meal to be sure. The service matched the meal....knowledgeable staff with helpful suggestions...very attentive but not hovering.... The front door to the restaurant was a little tricky to find (it's at the back of the restaurant), however we were very pleased once we got inside the restaurant. Dimly lit, with a romantic yet modern decor, we very much enjoyed our meal. We ordered two appetizer specials (soft shelled crab, and the foie gras), two entrees(fish and pork) and finished off with dessert (coconut pie). Everything was wonderful. The food was excellent as always. I had the Jumbo Crab Cake and Shrimp, and my friend had the lamb special. Both of us were happy with our choices. Cocktails and wine were good, also. This time the service was excellent--very attentive.( Both evenings and one brunch exhibited good service--only the one lunch I went to was unacceptable--a very snappish, inattentive waitress, although the restaurant was almost empty. I had to call her from across the floor to ask a question--something I've never had to do anywhere except in Mexico!) Service was attentive as soon as we got there. Waitress right away wished us well on our anniversary without us telling her. I had noted it in the comments section when reserving with OpenTable online, and she offered us compimentary champagne glass. My husband took a Jack and Coke instead and was pleased with the good amount of Jack. Haha. The ambience was really nice. My husband and I both liked the food. I liked the caprese salad along with my chicken fried oysters, while husband liked his lamb. We split a chocolate mousse for dessert. It was all presented well and fancy. They weren't huge portions, but it all hit the spot. From the valet parking to the table and out again, every staff member was attentive and pleasant. The salads were crisp and pretty, the entrees great, and the wine list had some very nice selections. All in all, a wonderful meal and an enjoyable night. But why? the food is always fabulous and attractive. Why should I ever need to talk about something as silly as noise levels? I liked everything, and asked that it be brought out leisurely so I could savor everything. The ambiance was very nice and relaxing, I enjoyed the view very much. My waiter was extremely helpful and when I expressed an interest in their oysters but was unsure, he brought me a small taster, which was very thoughtful. The portions i was surprised to see were quite generous. My only complaint was the dessert. I like to sit back after a rich meal with some tea and savor a something sweet. It was called dark chocolate mousse, it was actually a dark chocolate mess.
