    From either stop, walk two blocks up 3rd street to Serpentine. We are on the corner of 3rd and 22nd streets.

  • "Was really impressed with this neighbourhood gem. Noted on the reservation that it was a birthday dinner and they saved a nice table for us. The cocktails were delicious and expertly prepared -- some of the best I've have in SF so far. Dinner was also excellent, with well sized (not enormous but not skimpy) portions of deliciousness. Reservations are a must, but well worth the planning."

  • "My boyfriend was late and lost. He doesn't know the City and went to two other locations before finding Serpentine. The waitress knew I was stressed and definitely knew he was stress. She calmed him down immediately with a ready drink, and then fabulous food. I think they were already closed for service, but opened for him and his entree was delicious. If it wasn't for our waitress our night would have been ruined. My girlfriend and I started with the fennel salad, which was light and delicious. We both had the perfectly cooked swordfish. My boyfriend had the juicy thick, house burger with crispy fries. So with fantastic service and great food - we'll be back."

This time I had the chicory/asparagus salad with additional chicken breast.Wonderful! I ate it all. service is wonderful. Have not yet been disappointed with service. They are attentive but not "hovering". Would highly recommend coming here if you're a foodie."

  • "I really enjoyed my scallop appetizer and swordfish entrée. Serpentine has good basic food. The service was friendly. We enjoyed cocktails with our dinner. It is a good casual spot for a nice meal."

  • "The pluses were some very imaginative dishes and tasty cocktails. I would rate the food higher but my roasted chicken dish, for example, sounded great on paper but the flavors were a bit too subtle. Chicken breast whole does not allow a lot of places for sauce to settle, so a more vibrant or intense sauce would have helped energize the dish. Overall the food was quite good and we all enjoyed our dinners. The fried brussel sprouts were great, with a piquancy from the mustard that perfectly complimented the earthy brussels. The main negative was the noise. We almost had to shout across the small table to be heard. Service was good, and attentiveness to food issues like dairy allergies was excellent."

  • "Celebrated a friend's birthday. Food was good but the service was off. The server was not in sync with our table. 2 misses in serving us; 1) Failing to realize we wanted to share the Brussels sprouts during our first course as we told her when ordering both French Fries and Brussels Sprouts to share and 2) Giving a shared dessert ordered by another friend and I to the birthday person with a candle on ot without telling us. We had to ask her what happened to our dessert. You would think a restaurant like this could have given the birthday person a little ice cream or something instead of our dessert for him to blow out a candle."

However, this is the second time I had the hanger steak and both times it was super tender mouth watering flavorful steak with each bite. I have found my new favorite place.   • "We had a great dinner here last weekend. The place is small but the four of us were able to be in a secluded nook at the end of the bar area that was quite private. The place was energetic and staff very helpful. Our group loved the freshness of the salads, the root vegetable salad was a particular hit. The scallops can be a main dish, as well as an appetizer portion, and they are really good. Everyone loved the swordfish as well. Great place in an evolving area."

  • "While I've been here before, it's not a place I think of much, and this visit confirmed why-- it's fine, but nothing special. Had to take an early reservation, right when they opened, as for some reason even early in the week they were booked. We were seated in a dark corner when there was no one else in the place (though it quickly filled up and felt that we were squished next to the folks at another table). The chickpea calamari was wonderful, but the chicken dish was uninteresting-- just not a lot of flavor. The entrees arrived before our app plates were cleared, and while our main server was personable, the person who delivered the food was flustered and unapologetic. If I end up here again, I'd go for drinks and a burger. . ."

  • "We are from Chicago which is a pretty foodie town and really enjoyed this restaurant. Located in "dogpatch," found it impossible to get a cab/uber back to our hotel. Hmmmm, transitional neighborhood? However, our hostess directed us to convenient public transit . It looked like there were several other bars/restaurants open so this may eventually become a dining destination but for now recognize the neighborhood is a bit sketchy. We dined on valentines with a fixed prix menu and decided to go with the wine pairings. Loved everything except the scallops. They were cooked perfectly but were placed on a bed of something that reminded me of crunchy cardboard. Filet, soup, dessert and dessert port all amazing. Reasonable prices. Friendly staff"

The food was excellent, the pre fix menu items were a good mix. I enjoyed the Amuse course of a oyster caviar soup and the salads were outstanding with both dressings having the own identities. My main course of sea scallops were perfect and was sweet and salty. Dessert, a warm chocolate cake and ice cream was a perfect end to a romantic evening....will need to try brunch, heard was great."

Cocktails are creatively concocted, yet way too easy to drink! Serpentine is only a couple of blocks from where I live, but I'd drive for miles if I had to!"

  • "Since it was my bday I got to choose the restaurant and knew it would be good (I had been there before). My foodie friends had never eaten here, and were very impressed with all of the dishes that we chose. We decided to pick a bunch of appetizers to share, and then each chose an entree and tasted each others. Everything was awesome from the Meat board, to the vegetable salad, chicken Liver, Steak and Chestnut Pasta. Service was excellent (Thank you Kyle!). Highly recommended!"

  • "If I had to rate Serpentine for food alone, this place would get 4-5 stars. Went for dinner with a friend and had oysters and the fried brussel sprouts for appetizers, she had the potato gnocchi and I the lamb shank. The food overall was terrific. The oysters were fresh and delicious. The gnocchi was very tasty and my lamb shank was tender and flavorful. Cocktails from the bar were unique and not too strong. We also enjoyed a few glasses of Pinot Noir which was also solid. The noise level was a bit annoying. We just happened to get a large group seated next to us who were all loud and obnoxious. I mean, I couldn't even have a conversation with my date because they were so loud. Service also lapses when it's very busy."

  • "I like Serpentine, and have dined there frequently. But on my latest visit was given a table you wouldn't have your least favorite person in the world sit at. No view of the rest of the restaurant. Tucked behind a wall at the entry, our table for two had us rubbing our shoulders on the wall on one side and virtually part of the noisy party for 6, only 6" away on the other side. When these noisy peeps finally departed, they practically pushed us further into the wall. VERY uncomfortable. This table defines Siberia."

Brunch was yummy, the server brought the wrong drink, but it was tasty enough to be amusing, so we did not advise him of the error. Portions not so very big, the couple next to us ordered a table full of dishes so they knew best. Fun, hip, not transcenantly wonderful, which is just fine. It is only food people."

  • "Table was waiting for us even though the restaurant was quite busy. Menu had great variety and unique dishes. We chose the Dungeness Crab Eggs Benedict and Red flannel Hash. Both dishes were outstanding. Garnishes of fried thinly sliced lemons on the Benedict were so tasty and the beets in the Hash were perfect. Fresh Arugula was part of both dishes and it was quite fresh and tasty. Service was also quite good. Will go again"
