  • Catering: Serafina can cater in any format or venue – in your home, on a beach or at a park. Your guests will be transported to Italy when they taste the dishes recreated from meals enjoyed in friends' homes throughout Italy by owner Susan Kaufman and Chef Josh Green. Or, choose the Mediterranean cuisine offered at sister restaurant, Cicchetti. Buffet, plated, cocktail party – whatever the style, we will custom-tailor menus and hand-select wine and cocktails. Our catering manager, Maxine Holtzman, can help with arrangements for rentals, decorations, musicians, florists and photographers.
  • Entertainment: Serafina offers live music every Tuesday Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings as well as Sunday brunch and the "First Wednesday" of every month. Our musicians mostly perform jazz, but music also ranges from blues to bossa nova. The stage is at the heart of the dining room, with many tables enjoying a direct view of the musicians. There is no cover charge to enjoy music, however the dining room is reserved for dinner only until our waitlist is entirely seated. At that point, typically around 10pm on weekends, we are happy to seat guests for drinks and dessert who'd like to enjoy the jazz from the dining room.

A word from Serafina
Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its ochre walls, reminiscent of the Tuscan landscape, its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home.
The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

  • "Heard of this place years ago, and finally had a chance to visit with a friend :) The food is great and fits my preference, and the design is very energetic too! Years ago, a brilliant violin artist told me about this place and that he play there on Sundays, but the restaurant week is Thursday so didn't have a chance to see if he's still playing there. Like the bread with olive oil+garlic: the taste is very refreshing! The space was a little bit crowded and a little low-on-staff that day though, perhaps the last day of the restaurant week brought in too much people at the same time xD Conclusion: Great place for casual/semi-formal gathering with friends. Lots of great food and interesting displays!"

  • "Came here for restaurant week, the group was very pleasantly surprised by the back patio. Perfect little patio for outdoor dining on a sunny day. Service was relatively fast until it came to the dessert which took longer than expected. Was charged for bread which was a surprise, but it was delicious and worth it."

  • "We did the 3 course Dine Out menu - our main dishes were great! I had the halibut and the hubs had the pork. Both were amazing! The starter salad was good, but the hubs thought it lacked a cohesive element. Maybe a bit of parm or goat cheese could have tied it together more. Still...very good! The corn cakes for dessert weren't my favorite, but I don't think it's because of how they were done, I think it's just that they weren't for me. The wine list was amazing and the atmosphere was fun. I would definitely go back and try some other things."

  • "Although we dine there regularly, we had never had brunch there before. It was very busy and staff were accommodating but taxed. The offerings leaned toward heavy and eggs were predominant ... not a fan of eggs so the choices were very limited. The music was so loud we had to lean across the table so we could hear each other. We won't go back for brunch but will return for lunch and dinner ... they each would receive considerably higher ratings."

  • "Took a friend for a birthday lunch and we were not disappointed! Had the Potato/leek soup with black truffle oil and it was velvety and lovely. She had the charbroiled octopus salad---yum! Everything was beautifully presented and delicious! We both had the pan roasted halibut with a rhubarb reduction sauce over grilled asparagus and man was it good! My only quibble would be that the portion of halibut was quite "petite" but it was perfectly cooked and the sauce complimented and did not overwhelm. It is always a treat to dine at Sarafina!"

  • "We booked reservations; "lunch" during restaurant week, but on arrival, learned the “deal” did not begin until Sunday night. Oh well.. let’s spend the $22. each and eat. It included 2 courses; My #1 was pork belly with granny smith apples & almonds. Amazing! I can’t say more than that except that all the flavors of these ingredients were heaven when taken all in one bite. My #2 course was a type of home made rustic type of noodle (can’t remember the name) stuffed with pork and cabbage. I could not detect the cabbage at all, and although really too rich for my stomach, it also had very good flavor. Husband had a pork cut of meat (nice size) on a bed of polenta I think. Every bite he took, he would say..”mmmmm”. His was the better choice."

  • "My wife and I took some colleague for dinner at Serafina -- a repeat visit for us but a first for them. As always, the food was outstanding. The winter green salad with the cider-thyme vinaigrette was light and had just the right amount of flavors to make it delightful. The pappardelle with short ribs was one of the best I've had and the balsamic pork chop was generous and flavorful, not drenched in balsamic. This was a great treat for a Monday night. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and her suggestions where very helpful in guiding us through the winter menu. All in all, she complemented our experience beautifully."

The staff were all over solving an unfortunate mishap by the bus boy who knocked my wife's wine over and onto her- things like this do happen and everybody went the extra mile to help us. As this was a special occasion I'd looked at several restaurants, I'm quite happy we dined at Serafina!"

  • "Serafina is our " Go To "spot for celebratory occasions as well as an Anniversar.y and Birthday spot -the food is tasty and well presented without being too trendy and the service attentive but not intrusive... The Bar is small and crowded but worth the aggravation. A warning - the noise level was HIGH on the Saturday night we were last there,but everyone was having such a good time that it hardly mattered. By all means give her a try and I'll bet Serafina will become one of your favourites too."

Great energetic atmosphere with guests just really enjoying themselves. The service was prompt and polite with great recommendations. The food itself was great - full of new flavors we all really enjoyed. I'll definitely recommend this to a friend.   • "We couldn't get reservations for Valentine's Day so went the night before. We arrived and were asked to wait as our table was not yet ready. So we enjoyed an appetizer in the bar with delicious martinis. But then they seemed to forget us so we finally reminded the host. It took 10 minutes more to be seated. Once done all was fine. The meal (braised pork) was delicious. Although it was very busy the sommelier came and worked with us. He was terrific and generous with shared pours. Dessert was OK- the coffee layer in the tarimisu was watery but the accompanying port was excellent. All in all we had a very nice evening and will return on a less hectic night. I'm glad we didn't come on Valentine's Day. It would have been too crazy!"
