Diner Reviews
  • "This was expensive for the level of service offered and the restaurant was not crowded. The wait staff was inattentive and acted put out to have to bus tables or take your order. Stay home and don't waste your time or money."

  • "We have been to Searsucker a few times and each time it lives up to our lofty expectations. Food is great and the drinks are great (if a little light on the alcohol) and the service has always been outstanding. We highly recommend it!"

  • "Food, service and timing was all spot on. A great team and food was hot and fresh. Not to much and not to little to pick from. Definite date night material."

  • "My husband & I invited another couple for dinner because we had such a good experience the first time we ate dinner at Searsucker. Unfortunately, this time was a huge disappointment. My husband requested his Hanger Butcher Steak be cooked Medium Rare; it arrived Well Done, too tough to eat. He had to send the entire dinner back & he did not have an entrée. The waiter took his Steak away with hardly an apology. The husband of the other couple ordered the Summer Risotto & the rice was hard & not delicious. My husband had also ordered a second Manhattan drink to arrive with dinner & the waiter brought it after we were all finished with dinner. The Steak was taken off the check but my husband had to ask that the second Manhattan be removed."

  • "This was our last super celebration with our kids aka our last fun night before going back to school . We all really enjoyed it the service was great and food was fab!!"

  • "Started off with cocktails for our party of 3 - all of them delicious and refreshing. After learning 3 of the specific menu items we came to try weren't available, we ordered the artichoke small to start which was incredible. For entrees we had snapper, scallops and duck. Beautiful presentation and prepared to perfection. Delish. Small complaint about duck - the breast portion could have been cooked a little more, it was just a touch " flabby" to taste. While the food was great the ambiance wasn't. It is a giant space and a total of 4 tables being served. So we felt like we were in a empty warehouse for dinner. Also, the lighting was fairly bright. Service was good but not great. I will go back for the food."

  • "We had a fantastic brunch, great food, drinks and service, except for one thing...dust from the ropes above kept dropping down into our drinks and food. I get its part of the motif but it seems like if you aren't going to clean them regularly you should probably take them down. We will definitely be back and this time just asked to be seated away from those dusty details."

  • "There were a few children at the restaraunt, but this is definitely not a place for children! Parents, please be considerate of the rest of us who either paid for a babysitter or have already raised our children and want to enjoy an evening and an enjoyable dining experience. The food was delicious as always, and the management and staff were awesome-so fun and such good sports!!"

  • "I had the NY Strip and it was quite amazing. The seared spices on the outside were okay, but overall the steak was amazing. The Jalapeno tequila drink was delicious."

  • "While the service was quite good and friendly, the food really disappointed. I do not recommend it and do not plan on going back. We eat out a lot and try many different eateries in the CBD (where we live) as well as surrounding areas. This venture was disappointing."

  • "Not to mention the setting and surroundings. Just wow! Highly recommend the Brussel sprouts appetizer and the Effen Fresh cocktail. The food tastes as clever as the names of the cocktails. What Austinite wouldn't love a place with a drink called 'Alright, alright, alright'?"

  • "After eyeing this place since it's opened, we FINALLY made it to Sunday brunch. The food was fantastic, and you can't beat the brunch drinks! (I can't say I have had a better tasting chicken fried steak in this lifetime). We ate early into the brunch, and the DJ was perfect. Nice mix for a fun boost, but not too loud. Admittedly we circled back for more mimosas after our meal, and it was an entirely different place. I felt like we were in Vegas - quite happening for the young and beautiful crowd!"

  • "My husband and I love this place. We bring all of our out-of-town guests here. The food is amazing and the drinks are fresh and fun."

  • "The food was amazing, our server was amazing - the only thing I wasn't impressed with was one tiny touch. When I made the reservations, I noted that it was my husband's 40th birthday. No one acknowledged my husband's birthday at all. It was a little disappointing."

  • "If you are looking for the most complete restaurant experience - look no further. Searsucker is the best farm to table prepared restaurant on the planet. The service is simply the best also. The best !!!"

  • "I think it was a bit pricey for what you recieved. The lunchbox was a good deal, but tomatoe soup was very ketchup like. I got the bowl of soup of the day which was smaller than the soup served with the lunch box. It was medium at best, but the atmosphere and the service made up for it. We got three glasses of wine at 14 a glass, but was good wine. 96.00 was a bit much for an hour lunch, but was with my best friend and had a good time, but will warn others to be ready to dig deep in their pockets."

  • "My partner and I came in for a late dinner on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant had a decent crowd for the day and time. We were promptly seated and provided water and some really tasty mini-biscuits. We had some really delicious crab hushpuppies for a starter. I ordered a steak (perfectly cooked, although the bottom was quite charred) and my partner had sea bass and we shared a side of brussels sprouts. Both meals were excellent. We really enjoyed the food. And on top of that, the cocktails were absolutely delicious. The only negative was that the service was just average. It was ok on a late night Wednesday shift, but I would be wary of a busier time."

  • "This was my first time in Searsucker, and a friend and I went for lunch. The food and service were very good with the Brussels sprouts appetizer being my favorite. The noise level was quiet and made it easy to talk. I will return and will recommend it to friends."

  • "Evreything thing was just OK. We had a reservation but still had to wait over 10 minutes to be seated. From there, the service and ambiance was fine, but the food was lacking. We ordered 4 things and none were stellar, or even really good. The menu made sense but then the flavors we were expecting just wasn't there. Seems to be a lack of execution in the kitchen."

  • "The appetizers were just incredible! My husband and I ordered 3 "smalls" and it was plenty for dinner. Each appetizer was a unique combination of ingredients that I had never tried before, but was just incredible!"

  • "I love pork, so the bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin sounded right up my alley. It was even better than I imagined! The tenderloin was perfectly cooked - nice and juicy - and it came with this crisp corn salad and grits that were also delicious. The lamb chop appetizer is good too. I already recommended this restaurant to several people!"

  • "Good and service is always great at Searsucker. One if my favorites in Austin!"

  • "Where do I begin. Lobster Mac n' Cheese "to die for". Shrimp and Grits "great flavor". The Pork Chop was the best I've had in a long time. Oh I almost forgot my new favorite drink, a variation on a Cucumber Martini. Our party of eight had a great time. Service was helpful in deciding what to try. You will not be disappointed."

  • "the service , the food , the atmosphere - its all here over the top service without being intrusive, our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and how the dishes were prepared and was able to offer spot on suggestions. The portions served based on the price points are an excellent value for the dollars spent We will be back"

  • "We stumbled onto Searsucker in our attempt to try a restaurant we had not been to. Searsucker has been recommended to us by two friends and we were not disappointed. The ambiance was lively and the food was phenomenal. Our server was very knowledgeable about wine and helped us pair our dishes. My mixed drink, the skinny jenny, was like summer in a glass. I will definitely be back!"

  • "We ate at Seersucker with friends while on vacation. The food is very good, but the atmosphere is loud and chaotic (disclaimer: The group was in their 50s and 60s). We started by sharing the Tartare and Artichoke Hearts. Both dishes were excellent and well-presented. Our entrées included Black & Bleu fish, Yellowfin tuna, duck, and filet. All were very good, with the Yellowfin being outstanding. Food was fresh, delicious, and well-presented. Our server was very good, even though we ate on a busy Friday. Service was attentive, despite the crowd. Our table was visted by a manager twice. We were told they were trying for a mix of fine dining with casual atmosphere; a success. Wine list is short, but we found a white and red which were good."

  • "We arrived during happy hour and really enjoyed the small plate options and the house infused liquor drinks for $5. Big bar area w/ couches to lounge on. The cocktail Snake in the grass was so refreshing! There take on calamari, their small plate squid was really good. We also tried other food items not on the happy hour menu. Recommend the lobster Mac & cheese, big enough to share. Do not recommend the watermelon salad, needs more watermelon less leafy greens, I don't remember cucumber as it was described? Definitely will be back to try more items, the menu looks great and has me intrigued for more. Overall I give it a 4 1/2."

  • "All of the food and drink we had was excellent. My girl and I went there for our anniversary. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. Our waiter knew everything about all of the menu items off the top of his head and was able to make some great recommendations for food and drink. We stuck with mixed drinks all night, the Leopard's Tail was probably the best one off the menu. The bartender made a custom drink for my girl (at her request) and it was phenomenal. For food we had the tomato soup, lobster mac and cheese, and short rib off of the small plates. All were excellent, the grilled cheese that comes with the tomato soup was amazing. We finished off with the Filet and Duck. Great experience."

  • "One of my favorite places to visit in Austin! Great food, wine, and drinks. Try the fried brussel sprouts! Everything on the menu is delicious. You will love this place! Every time I travel to Austin we eat here. I think I've been about 5 times this year. I have never been disappointed. Love the ambiance. The wait staff is great too!"

  • "I probably have 3 meals a year as good as the one we had last weekend in Austin at Searsucker. Being with another couple allow us each to share the awesome starters (Poke, artichokes with cheese, pork belly and egg, and shrimp and grits). Each couple shared a different fish dish and both were over the top. Great service and a fun atmosphere. The more you share, the more you will enjoy Searsucker. We will be back on our next trip to Austin!!"

  • "The music was way too loud, could not have a pleasant conversation without raising the tone of voice. The buser for the table made us feel rushed by clearing our plates without asking if we were through with our meal. Cleared plates before everyone was done."

  • "We needed to stay close to ACL and found this gem via Open Table reviews. We sat at the bar and drank Snake in the Grass which was the best gin drink we have ever experienced. When we sat to eat we had to try the brussel sprouts in addition to the fried chicken and hangar steak and we enjoyed everything! Don't forget to leave room for the apple crisp!"

  • "The only reason this place gets two stars from me is because it was reasonably proved for lunch and he service was decent. Otherwise, the food was worse than what you could get at Applebee's or Fridays. Flavorless, boring, and uninspired. I truly don't know how it has gotten so many good reviews."

  • "A Great Austin Space! The decor is eclectic and comfortable. We choose to have small plates and they were wonderful. Be sure to try the Roasted Brussell Sprouts with Walnuts and the Shrooms are amazing. This would be a great place to go with a large group or 2-3 couples. They have huge, comfy, leather booths that line the walls and they are perfect for a fun night out with friends. Easy parking around the corner for $5.00 or you can Valet. We will be back for sure!"
