Diner Reviews
  • "Good dining experience. Arrived early and had appetizers in bar. Checked in with Hostess who said she would come and get us at our reservation time. I had to remind her fifteen minutes after our scheduled reservation. Being forgotten by one preoccupied hostess was only negative in an excellent seafood and table service experience."

  • "The menu, food and service were very good. Lots of attentive attention from the waiter and other's who kept our glasses filled at all times. Food was delicious. Had the filet and lobster and the steak was so tender it was like butter! On the more expensive side so be careful with appetizers and salads, but the dinner meals are filling so didn't really need apps or salad. Will definitely be back for more"

  • "Three of us dined for celebratory lunch; all three loved their respective dishes---prawns cooked to perfection, lettuce ahi wraps and spicy crab soup, snapper tacos. In every case, the seafood was cooked to perfection, and the flavors/seasonings were just right. We will definitly return for more !"

  • "I enjoy this eatery. I was invited to the Mother's Day brunch. YUM! It was exceptional. My first trip was probably 1995. Never disapointed."

  • "Scott's did not disappoint. The food was excellent. I had the Ahi and my wife had the halibut. The service was spot on. We informed the waitperson it was our anniversary and the restaurant comped our dessert."

  • "Good (tasting) food and excellent (friendly) service. It's a little pricey since everything (including salad) are ALL alacarte. Would not have been able to go if not for Groupon. We went to celebrate our anniversary and it was nice."

  • "Salmon had to be sent back TWICE to be cooked all the way through. Manager came over, but offered excuses instead of apologies. This was a birthday dinner that turned out disastrously. We've eaten at Scoma's, Fisherman Grotto #9 and even Scott's in Walnut Creek, and never had to send the salmon back even ONCE in at least 50 servings. If the manager had acted as if she gave a care, I still would have been OK. Mistakes do happen. But callousness should not -- especially when it comes to customer service."

  • "Everything was good. The waitress was a little off with her humor, but okay. When I was ready to pay, she made some weird comment, nothing that I'll remember. Took a little long to take my Visa. You know, when your ready to go - you want to go. Come cash me out. Food was really good. I ordered the special, Seabass. I didn't think much about it other than it was very tasty. But knowing the texture of seabass, I came to believe it may have been halibut. Seabass is a softer meat, but maybe I think too much. Anyway I was hungry and it was served over rice and I ate it all. It was great. The food has always been good so I'll be back and get the seabass again and see if I'm crazy."

  • "We go every year for our anniversary, and always enjoy the food/service. Our wish is that they expand their creative culinary pallet, as we've now tried most of the dishes we'd like to try, and would like the chef to get more creative. For example, the 1st time we went they had a fish that was covered with carnitas and a salsa, was outstanding. That was one of 3 specials that night. Unfortunately, on the most recent visit, the only special offered was a barley soup. They've got great quality...just hope they mix it up a bit more."

  • "Always good food and service. My wife had the swordfish and I had a burger and a beer for a change. Michelle was our waitress and did a great job."

  • "My wife and I usually have a great time but this date night at Scotts wasn't all that. The bread and drinks took over 15 min to arrive. My wife ordered the fish special and when they brought out her plate they totally forgot to put the fish on the plate and had to bring it back. I usually order the seafood tower, but this time had realized that it is not worth $35. The one good thing to this trip was that our waitress did buy desserts because she was embarrassed on how are night had gone. Overall this was not one of our greatest experiences with Scott's seafood. Definitely not worth $150 night."

  • "We liked everything about this restaurant. Food/servers/ambiance. Since we live in Roseville it does take a bit of travelling but its definitely worth it. Our party consisted of three people who had never been to the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised. I am never aftraid to recommend it. Consistency and high quality of the food is paramount. Nice vibe."

  • "Took my husband for his birthday and went early before our reservation to have some drinks in the bar. The bar experience was frustrating. Lots of regulars and the bartenders were more attentive to their needs. Three bartenders all huddled in a corner and not paying attention to what the needs of the NEW customers."

  • "The bar noise level in the restaurant was too loud because of the bar. It was distracting to hear burst of noise. I would have given 5 stars if it was not for the noise. A glass separation up to the ceiling might cut down the noise between the bar and restaurant. The service was exceptional."

  • "Special ordered "Fried" Oysters; absolutely some of the best we have had. A bit noisy ; especially for us that are hard of hearing.."

  • "My wife and I would dine at Scott's Restaurant and Bar in Costa Mesa before performances at Segerstrom Center for the Arts. We always enjoyed our meals there. I booked dinner for my wife's birthday at Scott's Seafood in Folsom, thinking it was a branch of that Scott's. A glance at the dinner menu that this wasn't so; it was devoid of the Asian touches that graced the menu at Scott's Costa Mesa. Whoever prepared my wife's spicy crab bisque must have forgotten that they had already spiced it once; you could taste nothing but the spice. Her wild Pacific king salmon with basil pesto was also aggressively seasoned. My macadamia-encrusted Alaskan halibut, while perfectly cooked, verged on being bland. I traded my dish for hers."

  • "My husband and I stopped here for our anniversary. The food was delicious and the server was very accommodating for special dietary needs. Since it was the middle of the week it wasn't crowded or noisy and was a very romantic place. All of the employees were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely time!"

  • "The noise was so loud that we will not return. While we enjoyed the food, appetizer, entrees & dessert, normal conversation was not possible - due to the bar noise - sorry as this was an occasion of celebration. Good service!"

  • "When we sat down for dinner, it took around 10 minutes for our waiter to come over and introduce himself. Food was great as always but it seemed like the waiter was focused on a bigger party. The bus boy was great making sure we were taken care of. If he became our waiter, it would have been much better. "

  • "I have no bad comments for this place. Food, service, and atmosphere was excellent. I usually get one or the other with restaraunts, but this place had it all- even on one of the busiest days of the year, Mother's Day."

  • "Good seafood selection. They had smoke salmon and sturgeon, muscles, shrimp, and poke. All were great tasting. They also offer other breakfast foods, cheeses, and salad. The desserts were very tasty. There was also a ice cream Bar. Bottomless mimosas are a added bonus. It's a popular brunch, offered only on Mother's Day, Father's Day, and Easter, which we have eaten there on all these occasions and have never been disappointed."

  • "We had reservations for 6:45 but weren't seated until 7. Compared to the rest of the evening, that was fast, fast, fast. Although our waitress was pleasant, the service was slow. She disappeared for long periods - we thought about calling search and rescue. All in all, dinner took 3 hours! The waitress told us she had never de-canted wine before and her "assistant" commented that this was the first time she had served coffee. (That might explain why the cups were only half full.) The food was okay but not worth the wait."

  • "This is a Hard place to get a table unless you have a reservation. The food was awesome, we started with the calamari and it was very light and not at all greasy. Three of the 5 guests went for the macadamian nut crusted halibut and it was the best halibut I have ever tasted. Very moist and cooked to perfection, the rice pilaf and veggies were also perfect. Another guest had the seafood fettuccini and it was also incredible. Very flavorful. We skipped dessert because we had a cake waiting at home to celebrate my husbands 60th.. It was also awesome! Overall a great night with excellent food, the service was spot on and the wine list was a good selection. We can't wait to go back."

  • "Christina, the attendant, was wonderful, smart and friendly. Fries for the fish and chips were no better than a fast food joint...but who cares about fries. The rib eye was wonderful. the filet min was very nice. The sour dough is worth mentioning....totally awesome."

  • "We had a good time, although the room was very loud and it was distracting. The table next to us was a large group of people. I think that it would be much better if we were seated with tables of two people and the larger groups of people seated in another location to insure that the more private conversations could be heard at the smaller tables. The food and service was great. "

  • "I have been here many times for business dinners but this was the first time I took my wife. She loves fish dishes and had the pacific snapper -not blackened. She thought is was one of the most creative fish dishes she has had in some time. She really enjoyed it. I had the Mai Mai special that was grat. The berry dessert was agrarian light finish. "
