A word from Schiller's Liquor Bar
Schiller’s Liquor Bar is a casual neighborhood restaurant with a continental menu.

Dishes include rotisserie chicken with roasted potatoes, steak and French fries, fresh fish of the day, a selection of pastas and sandwiches, and a market oyster bar. We offer a seasonal list of house cocktails created by our own bar staff. The wine list consists of 3 wines – CHEAP, DECENT & GOOD….CHEAP is the best! Schiller’s Liquor Bar is open daily for breakfast/brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night supper.

The owner is Keith McNally and the chef is Shane McBride, who is also the chef of Balthazar in SoHo

  • "We've eaten at Balthazar's when in New York many times. We couldn't get in this time and decided to try Schiller's. It's a different atmosphere from Balthazar's - smaller and more intimate. We had the mussels and frites which were fabulous and a stellar dessert. The waiter gave us good guidance on the wine/beer list. The food was good and the service was outstanding! So attentive and good humored! We felt as welcomed as locals might be dropping by for a nice meal. Schiller's has a young and cool vibe but it's not just for the young and cool. It was a fun place to dine and their attitude was a big part of that equation. A thoroughly enjoyable evening and a hearty thanks to the outstanding staff! at Schiller's!"

  • "i was there with two friends and a booth was requested, but was told that it is best for parties of 5 or more, but then 20 minutes later after being seated, the same booth that was requested seated three other patrons. What makes that group more special than the group I was with? keep the treatment fair and if there are no other reservations on the books and a booth is requested, I dont think it would hurt to provide it to those who ask."

  • "We visited this restaurant and the name is a little misleading, they do have liquor but they have great food also. The fries are overflowing! The tables were a little uneven which was a little troublesome but definitely wouldn't deter me from going back. This was my first time in New York City and this place definitely contributed to an overall positive experience!"

  • "There was a time when Schillers was one of the hopping brasserie scenes to rival Pastis and Balthazar. And brasserie food has never been hotter in NYC. Which makes it very disappointing to find that Schillers has rested on its subway-tiled laurels for far too long and there are plenty of better spots to have good steak frites and oysters or a decent salad. The fish and chips was simply horrid (although recommended by our server) and the kale salad was tough and tasteless. Wont be going back any time soon. Shame."

  • "I had friends in town from philly and we went here on a Saturday night at 7. It was the right amount of crowded with a happening vibe. the food came out quick and was delish! Especially the garlic shrimp. the price was right as well... we knew we were going to hop around to a bunch more places and so we didn't want to spend all our dough on dinner. for a cool spot with a notable owner it was a great way to start the evening."

  • "As with any Keith McNally restaurant, the ambiance is great. Despite being packed with several large groups, the service was really good and our appetizers and main courses were very delicious. However, if you are over 30, be warned that this place is exceptionally loud. At some point, we gave up trying to have a conversation and just people watched....I am not sure how the tables with 10 people were able to hear each other (young ears, maybe?). Every surface in the place is tiled & hard...and the noise just echoes off of itself. When we left, our ears were ringing. So if you go, and you aren't into a super loud scene, go early (pre 7:30)."

  • "I came to the restaurant this past Saturday for Brunch. I was extremly disappointed with the service and was not sure why it seemed the restaurant was short staffed for a Saturday Brunch. Between the hostess and waitress I wasnt sure if they had apersonality and should really be in a service industry capacity. I will say food was good but not sure if one could really mess up pancakes. Very disappointed."

  • "Had a long flight layover in New York and decided to make the most of it by heading to Manhattan for a late dinner. Made a reservation at Schiller's and so glad we did. Waitress took our big bags and stored them away so we could concentrate fully on enjoying the evening and not worry about another long flight! Food was decent, wine flowed and atmosphere was lively but relaxed. Ideal."

It seems like they've recognized that they're a popular place, as a result realized they can price their food for slightly more then it's worth. If you're in the area and you and some friends want to grab something to eat and have no time to look around or make reservations somewhere else, you could easily go here, just don't expect to be blown away."

  • "We had a dinner on Sat night at 7 pm. Two of them ordered chicken pot pie and Cuban sandwiches. They said they were good. However, my order - fish and chips wasn't as good as I expected. I felt like just eating the batter and oil than the fish. The batter was too thick. I couldn't enjoy the fish. The chips were a little bit salty. However, the garlic shrimps that my bf ordered was very good. The service was a regular one - good - the server kept checking in to make sure we were okay. One thing I didn't like this restaurant was the noise level. They turned on the music TOO loud that I hardly could make a normal conversations with my friends. I don't recommend it if you want to have a good conversations or a relaxing dinner experience."

The food is delish, great service, nice servers, great interior, cool bar, great vibe. We tried several things and they were all prepared well, brought out in a timely manner. We found that the place had really good energy. The other diners, staff, hostess all seemed to be in good spirits and it reflected in an awesome dining experience. Highly recommend! Cheers!"

  • "There were six of us and we all loved to be here. uncomplicated, simple food but very good. Noise level was to the max, space to the minimum... it was good we were sitting so close, that we could hear one another. service was friendly and efficient. some of us were running the marathon the next day, so we had a few special wishes which were fulfilled without a problem. we'll be back for sure!"

  • "the scene was loud and relaxing at the same time. I tried the recommended garlic shrimp was very tasty but small. the devil eggs were also very good. Reminded me of having them at my grandma's during the holidays. Have added devil eggs to this year's thanksgiving appetizer list. The best of all was the bridesmaid drink. very tasty interesting with cucumber slices and flavor. very cool. had three of them. don't tell. lol."

  • "This is a very cool place to go and have dinner to. The lights are dimmed a bit (it's a liquor bar), and the interior shows some 'nonchalance sophistiquée ésthetique' that I really enjoyed. As a Belgian, visiting the US, I had to try a burger. So I tried the salmon-burger and it was a really good gourmet-style burger. Although the wine selection is quite good, my advise to try a cocktail, you won't find them that original that easy in Europe."

  • "Buzzing venue with diners and drinkers sharing space. Quick turnover but not rushed in any way. Good staff across the board. Menu was broad and interesting. Food was very good. Would highly recommend the sliders to get you start. Everything around us looked as good as ours tasted and a seriously easy to you wine menu that leaves a relaxed vibe to an upbeat place. Worth a visit."
